Nice video! We went past you on our kayaks - I told my wife, I’m sure I just saw someone doing a car review 😃 The blue of that BMW looked amazing in the sunshine by the river.
Great review, Peter! I'm loving all the EV options we now have. Now we just need some decent charging infrastructure and some cool options that mere mortals can afford.
They will never build better infrastructure until consumer demand further grows for evs. Then the government or companies will know consumers are ready for the transition.
Thanks for the review, mines on order in the UK. 9 months waiting list. Out of interest where in Oz were you driving please, looks very pretty? Notice it’s a Victoria plate
Hi Steve - nice choice. Let us know how it goes! The BMW press cars are registered in Vic as the HQ is down there. We have a secret squirrel spot in Sydney I can’t reveal ok, its Woronora in Sydney’s south-east 😁
We got ours last week! It's wonderful and super quick. I don't feel like it's heavy at all and ride is great. One pedal driving is just the best. Takes an hour to get used to it.
That's awesome! I've still yet to drive it, but I'm looking forward to getting one booked in. Glad you're enjoying it, and thanks for the comment! - Mike Stevens
This is what my parents went with (base model i4) they are long term BMW fans. The ability to charge off home solar is a big deal for them. The back might be a squeeze for me though. Wow! that one-pedal driving is clever. I have seen that in some EVs where you can do that manually adjust the re-gen on the fly so when you get used to it you can flip it up and down.
Very into this. I prefer the M3's version of that huge new grille, but at least this one looks alright with the black frame. Overall though, a pretty compelling car I reckon!
I actually went to buy an m3 and needing up getting this… it’s faster and cheaper! And with current gas prices, I can drive it daily without thinking I’m bankrupting myself.
Great job on the review! I really like this car, BUT I think that the crap CCS charging network, where I live, will keep me enjoying my Tesla Model 3 LR (with Acceleration Boost) and the Tesla Supercharging network for at least another year.
Is BMW’s first M electric vehicle enough to get your heart racing? Comment below. Read the article here: www.whichcar.com.au/reviews/reviews/2022-bmw-i4-review-australian-first-drive
Look, it's not a bargain, I'll go with that. The iX3 is ten grand cheaper, same battery but single motor. Still not a wagon or estate, but close. I think there's only one EV wagon anywhere and that's the old MG one. Sadly nobody is buying wagons the way they should...
@@zerogeewhiz I truly wanted and want a wagon EV. No one is buying them because none of them are being built or offered. Sure everyone is buying SUV things because, monkey see, monkey do! I’m just about to get out of Golf Alltrack after 5.5 years. And I love it but it’s time to go, if there was anything close to equivalent in an EV or Hybrid I would have bought it. Instead I’m going in a RAV4 hybrid. Remember way back when VW showed us a funky Passat wagon EV!! It was as sexy as…… and now they are trying to reinvent the car with the I.D. Lineup of cars that just look wrong especially the interiors. But with prices like the BMW here it’s no wonder EV’s are slow on the uptake. Looks like ICE’s are here for a long while still.
M50 is not required, edrive40 should be enough. It is very fast for conventional driving. Around 5 sec to 100, no need for more. That would cost around 100k AUD depending on the spec. No need for a wagon actually, it is a "coupe" with the hatchback opening.
The grill looks too much like somthing on an Alfa . The old classic beans looks so much better! I would never spend that much $$ for such anm fugly front end!
