There’s so many hater! Most of them couldn’t afford these type of cars so they sit behind the computer and read the spec and compare! Every cars are unique in its own way, you have to own it to really and truly enjoy it. I’ve many BMW M’s cars, just sold my 2019 M6 grand coupe that’s highly tuned over 700hp and bought and i8. I was skeptical about it until I test drove it then feel in love. Power are useless if it’s not lay down correctly. 50/50 power and weight balance is what you want! Both the i8 and R8 are great and unique it’s own way. Totally different in its own way, i8 is hybrid power super car and R8 is pure brute combustion power plant. Own both and you’ll respect each of it!
I just sold my tune 710hp and 690 ftlbs 2016 M6 and pick up an i8, I did intake mod, exhaust and tune. It doesn’t have much power like the m6, but hell it put all the power down when launch and nothing goes to waste. My i8 launch faster then my m6, but Ok the highway my i8 fall behind due to small displacement! But the fun is from the dog!! 😂
Me either, now we both know, lol! Is mama gunna let u mod the grocery getter? I can't recall if I mentioned, I seen the snake at the dealer down in Tomball tx video he had posted..... nice!
This poor R8 has been the benchmark for recent performance testing. First the Model 3, now the i8.. 😆 I figured this would be close due to that instant torque from the plug-in, not to mention similar power:weight (minus the “hp” figures). However, I did NOT expect it to hang that well. i8 got some 🥜 👀
Iam sorry but thats absolutly bull**it run for V10+ ! He need 10,4sec. to 101MPH (i8 dashboard) - really ? 10+sec to 100MPH ? in 550HP R8... Motosport Magazine tested 550HP 2014 R8 V10+ 0-100MPH in 7,0s flat or Auto Bild sportscars 0-125MPH (200km/h) in 11,3s. Engine in that R8 must be totally destroyed...
Depends on the r8 model year. Old ones aren’t that impressive. Like 2010-15 ish is far different than the new ones with better tech. Something was off for sure.
@@Fumbiii16 It says it’s a V10+ which I believe was introduced in 2017. 0-60 for the V10+ is 3.5 seconds. It took about 11 seconds to hit 108mph. I was also thinking something wasn’t right because the Audi has upgrades too. IMO the Audi driver either messed up when launching or wasn’t stepping on the gas all the way.
i8 they are slow i just smoked one today cocky fool tailgating me in his i8 .. on my 700whp audi s4 b9 … they are not fast cos my other buddy in his stock 2020 audi rs5 tuned gapped him left the i8 in the dust
Those first gen V10 R8 were on the slow side, single clutch trans doesn't help for sure. As an ex owner of i8 and 2017 V10 Plus, with a 2nd gen R8 V10 the result woul have been way different. I'm still surprised of the final result tho.
Yes ofc the new Gen R8 is quicker but the best comparation is this Gen R8 vs This I8 bcz both cars are from the same year. Put the V8 R8 from 2014 with 420hp it will lose very hard against this i8 with only 372hp. The V10 is a bit quicker as you can see in this video
Huh interesting. I just got my i8 and I have an R8 GT as well. I haven't driven them back to back yet but my initial impressions was that the i8 didn't feel as fast.
