I got the ix xdrive50 a week ago. It’s possibly the best and most impressive car I’ve ever owned and driven. (I’ve owned and driven many BMWs, Mercs, Porches, Teslas…). IX has Rolls Royce Comfort, x5M performance, incredible unmatched tech. I didn’t love how it looks when I first got it, now I love it; as I guess when the look is this wildly different one tend to associate the look with the experience he/she has with the car. And the experience is amazing!
Thank you for the pleasant and informative review. View many reviews to make the right choice for our new car. I prefer the BMW IX. I do like the extravagant styling and technical innovations.
A great review Vicky as usual. The BMW may be the better car in this dual but from the looks I'll just say are divisive or Marmite for UK viewers. Under floor cable storage can be a real pain without some storage elsewhere if you've packed the boot full of stuff and need to charge. The Audi looks more mature (read old tech in this instance) but its looks much less divisive. Ideally can we have the BMW wearing the e-tron clothes? Anyway the new cost of these two is somewhat beyond what I'd consider paying for transport given what else is available so it's all a bit moot for me but I do appreciate what goes into higher end cars that ultimately may trickle down to more every day vehicles.
Another well-produced and informative review. Nice work! I'd take the e-Tron for sure. The BMW will never look good and isn't as affordable. Not as efficient yes, but the next-gen will be as will all EVs heading our way.
Hi good evening, they are not like BMW iX and Audi RS GT E-Tron for example like us VW cars also like id3 and id4 which are also favorable to win the clientele.
I just test drove both. And I found the IX to ride stiffer. Also, I didn't like how "cheap" the iX's doors sound when closing....there was also a lot of wind noise at highway speeds. The interior door handle was plastic and it also felt cheap. Most of all high frequency touch points were hard plastic and it sounded bad. By comparison, the etron felt like a "vault". Etrons are available with sound proof glass, which none of the iX ...which explains why it was quieter inside the etron than in the ix. Also, every single touch point in the etron was either leather or real metal. It felt more expensive.... In my view, I prefer a softer ride....I drive about 4k miles a month and I don't want to "feel the road" for all if that time day in and day out. I also don't want to hear outside noise. So, in my opinion, the etron is a far better vehicle based on materials used, touch areas, sound and ride smoothness
Am getting used to the nose of the iX. The eTron is aging well in looks but seems it needs a tech update. Both are good cars and either would be a joy. On balance because uniqueness and latest tech would edge towards the quirkier iX. Good balanced review.
I’m sure the BMW is the better car but at the moment, a great reason for buying one is that you can’t see the outside if you’re sitting in it! Be interesting to see if the Audi tech catches up at the refresh.
I think if there where a better range of colours on the iX not to mention if all the body parts that are black where colour matched it would probably win more people over Maybe 🤭
Great review and really interesting to see side by side comparisons. There is no doubt in my mind that the BMW is the more interesting machine. Cool construction materials that actually do have a reason to be there, as well as signature EV advantages like the front storage space and a big, flat floor cabin. It ends there though. If I could afford one of these (which I cant), neither car offers enough over existing ICEs either in capability or as a more sustainable option. The styling would also rule out the BMW - I dont find it loveably ugly say like an Enyaq - just plain ugly. But, I guess if driving around in an origami recreation of an overfed hamster is your thing, then the BMW is made for you. As for that frankly annoying steering wheel, looks like someone got way too drunk and put it in a microwave. I have never done that....never, ever.
Huh did you say that about the Peugeot steering wheel coz all is a enlarge version .Sorry from what you said the BMW has the Better ride simply coz the Audi you said is using air suspension while BMW is normal suspension and yet you said the Audi is Just a bit better Thus the BMW is actually the better of the 2 .
Yes, the iX50, which has the air suspension as standard, apparently rides even nicer than a full on luxury saloon like the Merc EQS: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ID54j4CuoX8.html
The BMW iX design is very bad, objectify. Huge bonnet very little inside compared with an ICE yet still no froot. Why? The froot , as ‘a thing’, is ideal for charging cables. The Audi is a much better design objectively, even if you personally prefer the BMW subjectly. The Audi could be better though. BMW had achieved a very good design with the i3, why have they gone backwards?
Got to be honest and say you're quite right the BMW is hideous! If I'd my choice I'd have the Audi but I will say I think despite being luxury EVs both are a hideous amount of money my only question is who's going to have the money for either of those?
As much as I'm all for EVs, these 2 leviathans simply epitomise all that is excess and unnecessary in terms of personal transport. There's nothing these bring to the market that a well-sorted, more aerodynamically-efficient saloon/ estate EV can do better - unless, of course, your whole reason for a car choice is to aggressively show off how high up the corporate ladder you are. 😠
I take your point but I am an old fart and really way past the point of wanting to show off, I have an e Tron for the good look and beautiful ride with more traditional looks. Of course there are more worthy more efficient alternatives but that's what having choice is all about
Really? do you have one? I get 180-190 on the highway in near-freezing weather with the cruise set at 75mph and auto climate control set at 70. In nicer weather that jumps up to 240 miles.
