Congratulations on solving yr LED headlight problem. Hopefully yr initiative in highlighting this issue will be noted by Munich so that we all can benefit from yr experience.
Hello Per, I know you’ve moved on vehicle wise, but I got my iX1 in Oct’23 and just realised my adaptive lights simply do not work, and your videos have been an immense help to me in diagnosis and getting a fix, which hopefully will be done this week.
Great video. Happy to see they have solved the problem for a big part. Hopefully the iX1s to build have a factory calibrated camera on board so it works fine for the ones who are still awaiting their iX1.
Super that it worked out for you. I have the impression that my iX1 LED lights work better, although it is of course very difficult to compare this objectively with the video material. At least it is like night and day compared to my last 10 year old X1.
Well done Per, your perseverance has paid off. This is all such useful information. Any other hints and tips about the car not covered by earlier videos will he gratefully received.
Tanks for your good work about this problem. I will contact my dealer and let them see your your video and hopefully will they take this on a positive reception. I am looking forward for comming uppdates and calibration of the camera if my dealer take this in a serious way. Will bee interesting to hear they reaction.
This was very helpful. I have anew hybrid X1. Am not at all satisfied with adaptive leds. It does not work at alll. Seems only to have high beam or low beam. It does not say “adaptive led” on the headlight units. I think they left it altogether.
You probably only have the normal LED, not the adaptive version. If so you also not have all modules of the rear lights with light in, only the outer sections.
Hi Per, I got a ix1 5 days ago and I have watched almost all your videoes as I find them extremely informative. Thank you for that. We don’t know id out car suffers from the LED malfunction you discribe. The car was registered in 05-2023 so Im asking - what is the best way to find out ? Drive during nighttime and do you think I Will know emmidiately? I have nothing to compare with. I Can easily tell the difference in your clip, very clear to me. I just want to make sure that I find out fast so I Can react. Thank you for the great content - best regards from Denmark
Check if the lights bends in curves during night time driving. You will also notice that the power of full beam is heavily reduced if they have the problem.
Super informative, thank you, and great to see BMW taking issues seriously. I am a Brit (since Brexit only 50%!) living in Bavaria now for 33 years & have a full spec iX1 similar to yours (chrome not Shadow line but I'm older than you!) on order for summer delivery. I have never owned a car with adaptive lights and have a question which someone in your community may know the answer to: If I visit UK with adaptive lights, do I have to make any corrections for driving on the "wrong" side of the road? Previously, one always had to buy precut stickers, or make own tape cut-outs, to cover up a certain area of the headlights when on dipped beams which without them would blind oncoming traffic.
@@swede-365 Ah, great, thank you. It's been exactly 20 years since I last trod on the island, but from what I read in the press and social media, it's probably not a good idea to be out and about at night😁But I do indeed hope now to risk a trip there with the iX1.
Picked up my new ix1 last Friday and took it out tonight - pleased to say adaptive matrix headlights work ok. Strangely, yesterday the headlights decided to come on in bright sunlight for 5 minutes and then went off again. I have discovered other bugs in the software - hill descent control suddenly stopped working and not available to activate. My BMW app works intermittently.
Unfortunately the software is unreliable. From time to time I get warnings that front collision warning don’t work and next time I start the car all is ok. Also some other smaller software problems. Hopefully they will fix this in future upgrades.
Hi. any more update regarding the LED Adaptive issues? Are they still ok after all the updates and calibrations? Has BMW done any improvements or changes in their routines at their production line so all cars now should have correct headlights ?? My 2024 iX1 will be delivered to me 08Dec. and I really hope that I can see the road when driving home in the December darkness.....
if the problem is partly due to the calibration of the front camera, what happens if the camera gets dirty with mud, salt or snow? (since the X1/iX1 U11 doesn't have washer for the front camera lens?) 🤔
The camera for adaptive led etc is located at the top of the windscreen where the rear view mirror is. The one in the front is for 360 park assist and drive recorder.
I have ordered an ix1 that is expected to arrive in May and then the question of these problems with adaptive LED is solved. My question to you do you know if in any menu you can see the version of software that is installed? If yes, what version do you have now that has solved the problem. Thanks for all the great videos and keep up the good work.
This problem doesn’t exist on all iX1 so probably you won’t have it. Also they made several software updates on different control units in my car so there is no general software version and also these versions can only be seen at the workshop.
If you turn the wheel without beeing in a curve, do the lights turn too? The old adaptive LEDs turn regardless of map info and I haven't seen any clear use of curve lights in my car. Maybe I expect too much. No problems with the matrix lights apart from that though. Tried the turning lights? Slow speed and full turn. The manual says the LEDs should light up the curves even before turning the wheel.
It does that sometimes in city driving but not as good as in others cars I’ve had. Actually even now when it’s working the lights are not very good for being a modern matrix light.
Hii, First of all, thank you for your priceless contribution to the X1 community, I am appreciated it. I have a X1 U11 too and also with the same problem. I am living in Luxembourg and after my service appointment, my dealer nothing have done regarding the problem, they said that everything was working well😂 Although I sent a couple of videos, showing that the adaptive matrix function doesn't work, they didn't do anything. Do you have any recommendations? It's weird and annoying but they ask me if x1 u11 has an adaptive matrix function.😢 I just want to know whether you have short-cut advice to fix the problem.
Hello. I have a question about the paint. Is it very sensitive? Scratch? Does it look dirty very quickly? What about car washes? I don't want to have to wash by hand. Thanks
I have the exact issue on my X1 25e plug-in. Adaptive lights are not functioning. Though it was a scam first, but now going to my dealer for the fix. By the way do you have any light animation when you turn on the car?
Hi, like the video a lot, I do have the same problem with the heated seats. Can you tell me what software I should install? Or can this only be done by a car dealer? Do you have a software version number I can refer to?
my BMW X1 2.3d M Sport, 4 months old, 1,700 miles (UK) has a camera on back order, showing 3 faults, Collison fault, headlight fault and lane departure, can still drive the vehicle at present
@@swede-365 thanks for the reply, car went to BMW Tamworth (UK) last Tuesday for a day and stated the camera was faulty, but no date on the camera arriving? also they did state that when the camera arrives it needs to be calibrated and some link to the rear camera, was really pleased with the vehicle
I would say much better. How can I help make the local workshop understand what to do? From what I understand the upgrade isn't what the car can do on its own, but it's an upgrade that only the BMW workshop can do. In addition to the update, do they have to calibrate the camera? And does this update also fix the adaptive seat heating? by chance they gave you a reference code for this intervention, I can see it directly from these workshop. A thousand thanks
@@swede-365 ohh thats not good. I tought there would be a update in 2-3 Months for adaptive heating. I thought only headlights would be solved at workshop.
Hej Per.
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7TCdiXgUZM4.html seems like the problems is solved on later deliveries? Hope you have found a solution on your car (please dont pay attention to the language in the clip forwarded in the link)
Yes but it seams that it is very different on different iX1:s. The demo car at my dealer had much better light than mine even after “fix”. It was similar to Bjorns test vehicle. Maybe they use different suppliers of hardware?
@@swede-365 I was not aware that they manufacture the iX1 at different sites in Germany. One place called Dingolfing and one place closer to München, also one site closer to Leipzig. I will for sure test mine at night as soon as I receive it. Its on its way from Germany now.
I have owned both Mercedes, Audi and BMW with adaptive LED. My BMW M440i has excellent lights, probably the best I have owned, but the iX1 has the worst I have ever owned.
@@swede-365 The scattering pattern of the front light is horrible, the illuminated parts are not uniform and spotty, there is a dark band between the normal and high beam, the high beam only illuminates the middle of the traffic lane and not the edge. This is anything but premium. We own the iX1 jut 3 weeks ago (changed from X4 2016), but much much worse than the old one. X5 F15 2016 we also have, is incomparably better. The horizon of a normal light is straight, instead of the right side shining farther away, leaving the edge of the road in darkness. This is also dangerous.
