BMW K100 stuck starter gear: How to fix 

I've heard of people with this problem and after they have used your technique for repair, they refill the engine with diesel oil and run it for a few dozen kilometres. The detergents in the diesel oil break up the gums and gunk on the starter spraggs and this really gives the spragg fingers a great clean. Then replace with correct oil. Anyway, I enjoy watching this and this will help many K owners. Cheers.

Good video ,thanks.My k100rs has been sitting for a few years in the garage.Started it periodically but noticed oil has got gunky.Went to start it but starter just spins and won't engage.Hopefully following the video and giving it all a good clean will solve the problem.

I have the same if minus on battery is connect not good, or corroded...first check connect battery and voltage next follow film... good job!!

Sort of relevant : When the bike starts 'Self-Cranking', and you have serviced or replaced ignition-switch, renewed battery, replaced starter-relay, meticulously cleaned earthing points of wiring, and sorted the starter-motor.. Ditch the 'clutch-switch' completely, it mimmicks a shagged-battery by lowering voltage at the starter-relay, destroys that, along with the starter and sometimes the wiring etc. Dave, NZ.

I have this problem, would run starting it be a tempory fix, also having trouble removing the starter seems to be pinned in place, have removed the 2 vertical bolts at the back Regards

I need some help for kinda similiar problem , when i try to turn the bike on i can only hear the fuel pump and nothing else no starter at all

Hi mate, very nice video thanks. Times to times when i star the bike the starter motor keeps running, like the low batterie problem. IS a new battery, contacts are clean, all is overhauled, not the starter key and button. thing is that the bike sarts, and the starter keeps running, so i cannot turn it off, the only solution is to brake it all and release the clutch in 2nd or higher speed... your video, can be he cause of my problem? thanks for your help!!
