@aidaroch You do NOT need to remove OR open the transmission. The so called "quick method" works as follows: Remove final drive. LOOSEN the transmission bolts. Gently pry a little on each side of the transmission to movie it back about 1/4 inch. Use a long artists paint brush to put grease on the bristles then stick it into the transmission and "paint" grease on to the dry spline. Rotate shaft with bike in neutral to get grease on rest of spline.

As well, you can use fine lock wire to hold the detent lever aside until the cover is almost in position. No need to knock the plug out. Just release the wire and zip it out by pulling on one end.

A ball-ended allan key make starting and tightening the grub/set screw much easier.

In 2020 I road a friends 2003 BMW K1200LT and was quite impressed. Also, some people have asked about the 5mm Grub Screw and don't know that it is best to screw it back in with a Torx T-10? which is inside the 5mm Allen bolt head - 5:54

These are very informative. I've purchase a K75T with 104,000km on it and I have difficulty downshifting. Your video is informative but WAY beyond my capabilities but in the video you do mention about a simpler quicker method....can you explain or give a link please and thanks?
