God damn I've heard v12s that dont sound this good. What is it about bmw engines...wether its e30 m3 4 cylinder, this or mcalren f1 v12. They all sound just the best
@@boonamai8926 got both on my 540 and the super charger spools up my rather large turbo which kicks in at about four thousand RPM without it it wouldn’t start until nearly five thousand mine cuts off at eight and half thousand . I have built three major fast racing engine’s using bmw blocks they are truly better than Japan blocks
Project CARS has this...car, perfectly emulated the sound and all. Totally awesome testament to the power of humanity to do beautiful (rather than bad) things with technology! :)
From 4:52 you can see the reason why this car sounds so sweet - that equal length, 6 into 1 merged exhaust system with no silencer. M1s with standard 6 -2 systems sound more like regular road going BMWs, this sounds closer to a screaming V12 F1 car.
excluding the v10 F1 cars, i honestly think this is the best sounding car i've heard on youtube, i've watched this about 50 times! actually gives me goosebumps
Imagine the sound of 12 of these on track at once... In 1979 & 1980 top formula 1 drivers ran these in a support series for formula 1. The races were televised ( maybe abreviated I think ) but the sound was great. Most of the top F1 guy raced them. I remeber Piquet, Alam Jones, Prost I think and others. I wonder if this is one of the original race cars ?
@fred1671: That first car ist not looking like a Ford GT40, actually I believe it was a Porsche 904. The roof in relation to the body is much too tall for a GT40.
I had the luck to see and hear this beast live in action with Dieter Quester as pilot at an old timer meating in Austria some years ago. This car is design in prefection and the sound is amazing.
@khenry1991 very true... i was thinking about that the whole video.... good car to be able to rip even when that old... LOVE THE VIDEO..... raw bmw rpms... only they sound like this!!!!! duitch engineering did some thing special here.
Awesome video! I'm thinking of creating a nice compilation in topic of this video, would be nice and honored to include your video, full credited of course, what do you say? Thanks for sharing, have a great day!
Damn nice sound, glad it's clear audio for the vid :) What a sexy bodystyle on that car too. Lambourghini + BMW = this? nice, very nice. Think I just added the M1 to one of my favorite cars of all time. I'd drive this over most modern cars any day
Crazy how the wanabe's always have some comment about how their bog-standard BMW sounds better than a full-blown race car. Years ago I had a Dinan M6, 480hp, coil-overs, the works. When I went to sell it some guy calls who is interested and tells me that he used to own a stock M6 and could drive from Montreal to Toronto in 3 1/2 hours. That is an average speed of 100 mph. Sure...and pigs can fly. Relax guys and enjoy. You dont have to be the center of attention all the time, LOL!
@MisterGasMan Different sound, hard to chose. V12 and V8 Ferrari (F40, F355, F50) Audi Sport Quattro inline 5, Porsche flat 6, BMW inline 6, Corvette V8 (yeah already in another league ^^)
@kpxfosho Look more to the bottem , and you'll see who is comparing ... ;-) mrjost55 .... is the comparer lmao mine is a bmw e34 M5 3.6l , same engine as this m1 pro car
The driver missed the first few corners on the cold tyres. after the 2nd lap it looked like it settled down, turn-in on the M1 almost looked like understeer followed by sharp oversteer just for a split second. such aggresive tourqe on the straights !! Must be one hell of a car to drive ;)
Just to know, but are different drivers race the car? Bacause the driver wears different gloves (blue sparco and blue stand21) and different helmet (one with smoke shield and one with crystal shield)....
Pretty sure the average race driver isn't completely used to driving a race car over 28 yrs old. Many seem to be overlooking the vast differences between this and a modern car.
