You only ever hear the bad things, but that's the case across every cost forum I've been on. People like to say the bad stuff but never the good. Definitely a great car, hope your wife enjoys it 👍
Mate I just picked up my 3rd 1 series since November 2021 . My first was a 2021 M135i , my second a 2023 M Sport with Tech Pack , Comfort Pack and Pro Pack both in Sapphire Metallic Black . On the 3rd of November 2023 I picked up my brand new M135i in Skyscraper Grey with Comfort Pack , Tech Pack and leather seats . It’s an improvement over my 2021 F40 in terms of handling and sound . 👍🏾
Woow working your way through them, great stuff. I've heard the newer ones are a lot better, with a few changes they made. Enjoy your new one when you get it 💪
I test drove one of these, as I owned a tuned M140i (455bhp/634nm) and wondered 'what if' ... as you do. I never liked the styling, with it's shower curtain grill, but I thought so long as I like the way it drives it wouldn't matter. The interior was the first thing I noticed, it is a step up in quality from the M140i. I wasn't a fan of the new dash layout though, as I am a bit oldskool and like proper dials. I had a drive and, errr, it just felt completely numb, boring, and sounds shyte compared to my M140i. Yes it would probably cover ground just as quickly in the real world, but man it felt so uninvolving and safe, I'd have fallen asleep at the wheel. I decided to go backwards in a way, and went for an even older OG M2. It is on another level, so raw, the steering, damping, cornering involvement, just fantastic. Oh, and it sounded even better than the M140i (and a LOT better than the wheezy 4 pot).
Thanks for watching! I bet the tuned m140i is rapid. For me I prefer the look of these to the older version, all I wished was it had the same 3.0litre engine as I feel everything else is better apart from the engine after test driving the m140i but that was just my opinion. As around the country roads, the 4wd system will just leave it behind. But yeah doesn't sound the best either tbf, but that is how modern cars are nowadays. I think with mine you have to tune it no matter what, getting 0-60 under 4sec is pretty impressive for a 4 pot. You can't beat a proper M car, so a M2 is a step up no matter the age, can't beat the driving experience from a proper M car. Enjoy it fella 💪
Maybe you drove the F40 M135i from before 2022? The model built in 2022 or newer has a much better chassis setup and better software for the automatic gearbox. They put the chassis setup in it from the 128Ti. The older F40 135i doesn't have that.
Great review with your added engine mod..I am getting a 2023 model at the end of the month in speed yellow!..and it has the 50th anniversary badges and full leather interior..had a test drive of one today and it felt plenty quick to me..once again great video 👍👍
Thanks for watching! Ah very nice, they look stunning in that colour. You will definitely enjoy it, once you get it. Definitely is a quick car as standard, so you can only imagine how it is with the added power. Thanks for the comment, I really appreciate it 👍
@@iam_anderdingus thanks for watching! Unfortunately I don't have it anymore, had to sell it due to needing a bigger car. You will enjoy it, once you find one 💪🙌
Awesome video … can you share details about the tuning kit … how easy to fit, cost and does it have any issues with BMW when you put the car in for servicing … eg any infringement of the warranty.
Thank you for watching! So the tuning kit is easy to fit, all instructions are easy to follow and the company can be contacted for help if needed. This box is around £300 and i left it on for servicing it's fine but if it was warranty work you could remove it easily so it is not on the vehicle 👍
Thanks for watching! So when I am driving, I have to turn the camera around to make it fit the angle in, so the picture will look the other way around on the video 👍
Yes it was very good on this car, had it on it for 18 months no issues. But I have sold this car now and I am selling the TDI tuning box currently on FB marketplace. It works best on setting 5, just made a difference to the drive in my opinion and obviously the times I was getting is because of the box 👍
@@kereyhaire6910 they aren't to bad, never going to be the best on fuel but you can get around 38 mpg if it on the motorway. But all comes down to the type of driving you do 👍
Thanks for watching! Ok that's your opinion but a lot of cars these days are under tuned and can take a lot more power than what the manufacturer gives the car. I've stage 1 tuned all my cars and all have been fine, it's stage 2 that you will need to do other works to the engine. I've worked and been around cars all my life and as long as it's serviced regularly and properly maintained, you will be fine. But thanks for commenting 👍
@@the_jnlt_channel As You probably know, BMW brings next month the all new X1 M135i with the B48 and only 400 Nm on the market. Seems, there were problems with the previous 450 Nm edition of the B48. It just makes no sense, to run a turbocharger at its limit. Let’s say everyone tunes his M135, you can hardly sell your used car anymore, and if yes, you get a lot less! Because nobody wants a tuned car! If you tune your motor, the car warranty has gone. If you want more power, buy an M2, M3 or just buy a Tesla, but don’t tune this car, because you never have enough power. And my opinion is not only my opinion, that’s the opinion of almost all!!!
I don’t see a problem with a correctly tuned car, it’ll be a different story if a car hasn’t been tuned properly making it unreliable. The B48, as you’ll know, shares the same design as the might B58 but with 2 less cylinders. Forged crank and connecting rods, but with cast pistons and is still fairly strong. I know you’re totally against tuned cars and your expressing your thoughts which I respect, but at the end of the day it’s just speculation from hearing other folks experience. On the internet, you’ll always hear people’s problems with their car but not much on how happy they are because they’ve reported the problem and needing help where as a perfectly healthy car no one really seems to post how great it is because they’ll just drive on without anything much to report. Regular oil servicing always plays the main part in keeping the turbo and engine life going. I know couple of guys blanked out their vac lines etc just so they can get flutter from the turbo, and we know how bad is from the air going back into the turbo thinking the turbo life wouldn’t last any longer than a year at the most. 5 years later, same car, same turbo, still going strong. My previous and my present car has a stage 1 remap. Last one 2008 n47 (famous timing snap era) bought with 80k miles and mapped straight away and went well into 170k miles before selling to upgrade to my present car. The turbo and engine was still going strong. An at present, with a stage 1 map, mapped from 60k miles and it’s sitting at 108k miles on the clock. All regular oil service no more than 8k miles
@@marcelhunziker7840 thanks for your comment again! There isn't a problem with the engine, the normal M135i still is coming out of the factory with the same touque figure. The X1 version is just a different car and there will be different reasons that are based on it being an SUV style vehicle. The turbocharger doesn't run at its limit with this map, it is actually well under and tested to be safe. Loads of people tune their cars, it doesn't change the market value at all, I've tuned all my cars sold them on and got the same money for it tuned or not. Also if you tune your car, it doesn't mean your warranty is gone, you might want to get your facts right with that, as I've had warranty work done on all my cars that are tuned, but this car is now out of warranty so that doesn't really matter now. Obviously if I could afford an M3, I would get one and also tuned that 😉 but because I could only afford an m135i at the time that's what I got. It's a bit of a silly comment saying buy a faster car, its not about that. I wanted the car I got and I tuned it because I wanted too. Also if you knew more about tuned cars, you would know it removes turbo lag, makes it run better and also improves fuel efficiency. So there's a lot more to it than just power gains and at the end of the day i would never not tune a car because my experience has been really good and it just makes the car so much better. Also a lot of people want to tune their cars, so each to their own and you don't need to say it stupid if you don't really know enough about a tune 👍
@@ShaksWD thanks for the comment, really interesting reading about your experience with a tuned car. Glad it was good like mine, as I know so many people with tuned cars and it made their car so much better. Thanks for the supportive comment 👍
Thanks for watching! I like this box as it is easy to use, plug in and go. I'm not sure how accurate the figures are and it probably may not be as high as they are saying. But I get good results from it and the times I'm getting are very good 👍
Enjoyed the video but a slight tip I’d give, you seemed very monotone in the video and didn’t much facial expression - think even cracking a smile during an explanation would help the quality of the video
Thanks for watching! Thanks for the tip as well. I am trying my best to do this but I have been doing RU-vid only for a year and this was the first time doing content like this. My normal content is detailing but doing a review on a car was something different that I wanted to try. It took me a lot of takes to get this right haha I hope to get better as time goes on, but thanks for the feedback 👍
@@the_jnlt_channel was it just the surround or the whole grill too? Just trying to figure out which part is required. Any chance you still have the eBay link ?
So I had to buy the whole grill but it wasn't the m135i as this one is cheaper and then just use the surround from it. Here a link.www.ebay.co.uk/itm/324641035809?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=tb5oGQMOTeC&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=nrzR30U0SSO&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Thank you mate. I definitely do, I've had one on my last two cars and it knocked nearly a 1 second off the 0 to 60 times each time. I know others that have got them, and it's work well for their cars as well. You definitely notice the difference for sure.
@@kipdrordy6858 nothing obviously is 100% safe but TDI tuning say it is safe and I've been using it for over a year on this car no issues and I had one on my 330i, no issues on that. I only cover about 5000 miles a year and always let the car warm up to temperature and don't drive it hard all the time.
@@330dfam yeah mate it's annoying, they mapped out the pops on my one. I think thats silly as you buy a M car for the sound 🤦🏻 but it isn't bad, but for it to better you have to buy aftermarket system but I don't think you should have too 🤔
I was looking at the TDI tuning box. What are you getting MPG wise, driving sensibly with it installed vs without it? p.s you are just like me, I had a f30 3 series, chopped it in for a 530e due to ULEZ but I can't get on with it, so I have got an M135i on order.
Thanks for watching! So if I'm going on a long run, in eco mode I could get close to 40mpg but it is hard in this car! I would say that if I put a full tank of fuel in, I would get around 25 to 30mpg of a mix of driving. But I don't really look at it too much, as I know this car will never be the best on fuel. Ah nice, you definitely will love the M135i, I really do enjoy owning mine and the new ones have had some improvements, so going to be even better 💪
@@the_jnlt_channel Thanks for the reply mate! I knew it wasn't going to be good on fuel, but I was trying to justify the purchase by telling myself if I drive sensibly I can get good economy 😂 (commute from Hampshire to Bromley for work which is 60 miles each way) but I am sure it will be more about smiles per gallon instead of MPG with this! The 530e is good for MPG (65-70mpg) but still uses 7-8L of fuel + electric which ends up bringing it closer to 40mpg without the smile factor 😂 plus its too bloody big!
@@marshmellow377 no worries at all! When you first get it, you may not drive sensible but after a few month you will like to just cruise along in, so you will definitely get better fuel than when you first get it 😂 but this car is definitely more smiles per gallon haha! You'll definitely enjoy your car, when it's ready 💪
Hey mate - fantastic video! It's so funny you mentioned 330i as this is one I was looking at first! I'm not sure if 330i is better, but your videos clearly says no. What do you also think of 128ti?
Hi there mate, thanks for the lovely feedback, I really appreciate it. So for me personally I didn't get on with the 330i, it was still a lovely car don't get me wrong. But it just wasn't for me, so I only had it for under a year and decided to go for the m135i. The m135i is much more driver focused and so much more fun but you still have a good amount of comfort. I think the 128ti is much the same tbh, just with slightly less power but still a great car. I would recommend test driving the 330i and the 128ti to have a better idea, as it is always down to someone's own personal preference 👍 thanks for watching
Thanks for watching. Yes I have the TDI tuning box on it. I talk about it in the video and it works really well on the vehicle. Setting 5 is the best, as I've found at setting 7 it over boasts too much, as I guess the turbo cant take the full power 👍
Not grumpy at all!, Just first time doing this type of video and out of my comfort zone. Trying to make sure I say what I need to say correctly. I look forward to your review of a car on RU-vid as I'm sure it's easy to make content 👍 thanks for watching 🙏
