///M [R]S totally disagree. Auto blip shift that can't be disabled in normal modes. Engine that sounds like a diesel. The RS3 with its unique engine and sound are far more of a future classic
Blake Swan the rs3 this good but no manual and or rear wheel drive means it’s not a drivers car, yeah it’s very capable and would be faster than this but any day of the week this would be more fun, exhaust note abounds fine to me
I am 6'3 and fit with a hand space above, with the seat at its lowest setting. I will say though that I sit further from the steering wheel and the headroom increases as you move back. This car had more headroom than most cars I tried.
Great review. So glad that BMW and others are going back to purity saving the manuals as I always advocated for. Being a hardcore 911 guy, this may be the closest thing to a Carrera S in terms of fun... for half the price. PS: Not exactly a fan of the aging hipster beard mania, but you are the kind of dude who would definitely look better with one lol.
Another hot place Brian gets sent to! At least he's keeping cool this time. Great thorough review. Though I wish Brian was more able to play on the track rather than being watched by the BMW fun police.
Mileage: If I pay real attention to mileage, it's at around 10.5 liters, on average more like 11-12. Automatic: I am a manual driver myself, got an automatic though because the paddles are amazing Acoustic feedback: you shift up waaaaay to early :) Sun roof: With 410HP you won't be noticing the extra weight.
I have the M2 competition, you can lower the front seats more than he has in the video, trust me as i'm 5'10" and i have a lot more head room than he shows, they also tilt front to back. His seating position should be that his wrist touches the top of the steering wheel when relaxed back in the seat, this gives you full control all the time.
The seating position you describe is exactly what is taught at the BMW Performance Driving School in South Carolina. First item of instruction is proper seat and mirrror adjustments.
Hey. Keep this in mind. If you put both back seats in the horizontal position you will technically have a better centre of gravity as these weigh more than a sunroof.
Why would I want a DCT? Because the manual now has automatic throttle blip. The fun of driving a manual was the footwork, heel/toe downshifts. For new cars, with the state of the art sequentials, that's the way to go.
Yep of course I watched the whole video. You tested on a back road with no real street driving. Do you really need the upgraded brakes if you are not going to the track? Thank god you don't do all that drifting nonsense that permeates other sites!
Why would you put rear seats down?!?!?! Because some people may not have 3 different cars to choose from. Throw a bicycle in there or something large, perfect. Having an option to do something will always get you more buyers.
9:46 the seat it's not fully down for shure And he is in a driving position that's not normal at all To much close to the driving wheel Of course to much back it's not right, but he is soooooo much up front 😅
The DKG version is actually cheaper here in Norway, because the CO2 emissions are higher with the manual. The only option people should stay clear off is the "Comfort Access" or keyless go.. So easy to steal these cars if you have that.
Nice review! It's a very nice car! However, front cabin space seems too small if this will be your daily driver! I know it's a coupe and love the color lol
I can't believe you talking about how reverse gear works multiple times, is this first time you drive a manual BMW?? Not talking about any real driving experience, just keep saying it feels good worse than the BMW dealer sales down the street.
mmm... This is too much sales pitch. The N55 M2 and the S55 M2 (Competition) has barely any exterior change aside form the mirror and front grill. Interior barely changed. The only thing that has changed is the N55 to the S55 from the F80/F82. Aside from that, the M2's popularity isn't the interior, it's the driving aspect and how much it resembles the size of the beloved E46 M3 and of course the 6MT. You don't by a M2 for the "luxurious" interior. You buy it for the driving aspect of the car and the fact that it is one of the last few cars on the performance side to still retain a 6MT. There isn't much said in this video that BMW owners don't already know before hand. This isn't a review.
MemphisHelstron The motor has change the power has gone up a lot, new mirrors new LCI Head lights new tail lights new lip spoiler new rear bumper new exhaust new M4 and M3 seats also that’s not all as a option you can have 4 different sets of spoiler a regular carbon splitter , M4 GTS styles NON adjustable spoiler and a trunk fitted spoiler that’s weird. Carbon fiber roof is now a option as well. New Rim options there was only one option now there’s 4 different style rims and 2 new stunning colors. The suspension and brakes have been improved even more. Get the facts and learn more about a car BMW just doesn’t place a new car just to sell and make money they actually work hard to do it . It’s not like it’s a new generation. This is the standard car btw.
It’s not an LCI, that happened last year. The presenter in this video has only a base understanding, is not properly familiar at all. He can’t even make the seat go down. I’m 6’3”, and don’t even put the seat so far back
Lol yeah you're right the all new brakes and carbon fiber reinforcement on the front end as well as LSD, seats, steering wheel, exhaust, not much updated for $5 grand (joking)
I really like it, but the price is way too steep. A configuration I made on BMW's site resulted in 71000+ Euro for the dual-clutch version. If I remember correctly the A45 is 10K down from that.
Michael Audi is really dad for this only black or grey leather, other bmw have everything from black to blue and the usual reds, the M2 is is low volume car. As a result it’s to costly to produce so many versions and options.
Still enjoying your video presentation of this wonderful M car. So much attention to the details of the car features, design and usability, with explanation like talking to your friend. Instead of just dicing it on racing track with brutal speed torturing, I believe most viewers would like you way of introductory approach about a car. Driving position can be adjusted more comfortable for you as nobody is at the back seat. Just saying.
You did not mention the "auto blip" function...on the regular M2 the auto blip is on all the time unless you disable all the "nannies". Is this the case with this one as well or can you disable the auto blip and leave the traction control / ESC on? I do not like that they offer a manual that you cannot disable the auto blip on it.
....but what in the world does, "too aggressive" mean? Is there some kind of rule that cars have a limit to an aggressive look? The more aggressive the better! And again, "you shouldn't think about driving this kind of car around town"??? This guy is a nut! Of course we don't mind driving it around town. It's a good looking car. Even better with the 7 speed auto in traffic! Dude, think about what you're saying before you put it on a review. There are much better opinions who could have used the drive time you were awarded.
