Raw Dashcam footage from our BMW 240i. Apparently McLaren dropped its oil and multiple cars crashed. Mercedes AMG GTR "Beast of the Ring" Porsche, McLaren, BMW all crashed.
And that's why I'm scared of driving the Nürburgring at the limits in my daily (and only) car during Touristenfahrten. Congrats for the save bro, the force was with you.
Same i wanna drive there and I don’t even want to push to it’s limits or anything. But things like this or someone accidentally crashing into me is what keeps me away.
@@Pie_minister_Sean it will. It helps with avoiding the spin + with preventing the "rhythmic skid" (don't know how to say it in English, when your car starts skidding in the opposite direction because you're too slow with your steering input).
Modern cars do have ESP. ESP can brake wheels independently, which a driver can't, it reacts orders of magnitude faster than the human driver, and its purpose is exactly to help in situations like these, by preventing rotation of the car around its axis at a degree it can't be saved anymore by human steering interaction. While we can't see the steering wheel in this video, it is obvious the driver counter-steered - but it is likely ESP helped with additional micro-corrections that helped stabilize the car.
I was In the M2 in front of you. That’s not the full story, there was a huge crash behind us. I pushed the throttle to escape from the GT3 Porsche that went sideways and approaching us at the front. Interesting to see the video from other dash cams.
If you notice reflections on the asphalt during a sunny day without rain, be careful - it's oil or other fluid! Do not brake or accelerate, do not make sudden movements with the steering wheel. Try to pull over to a clear lane and brake only there.
Squeaky-bum time!! Excellent save, and I know exactly how that rush hits you from concentrating to suddenly sliding out of nowhere, it gets you right in the stomach, then your arse & feet apply all the braking you can while your hands try to stay calm & not let/make the car spin. That feeling in your stomach only calms down once you’re back in control, then the come down from the sudden adrenaline is a big drop too! Excellent skills!👏👏
@@JustMeTalking that is not his corner. his accident occurred after Breidscheid and before Bergwerk. it is the left hand kink at about 180kmp for me. Then hard braking for Bergwerk, and up hill across the Zebra Strip into Kesselchen. Other than the bottom of Kesselchen, no name for the 3 lefts, a straight and the last FAST left, very early in. should have a name ?
Great save. Just watching it had the sphincometre reading through the roof! That feeling of a blocked track on a blind corner exit is something that you never get used to. Glad you kept it all in one piece
@@Alex_tee i think he mean, that he dont konw what touristenfahrten is. he drive like knife between the teeth, a lot of almost carsh becaus he never wait 1 sec to pass.
@@JaimieSigamoney stopping power doesn't matter at all when your tires can't develop maximum grip. He's probably lucky he didn't drive a 3 tonne SUV. That thing would've slid off for sure.
@tomlademann2521 let me guess you and @romansenger2322 were there on this day and saw what tires the m240i was running... good job guys 🤣 , why not share the specs and temperature of tires when he emergency stopped.
@@romansenger2322ja warum nur mit den Reifen brauchst du keine Bremse nur die Reifen sicher hat es auch mit dem Bremsen zu tun was für ein Quatsch Bullshit
I must say, apart from having a capable car, you have great tyres as well! I could see how stable and easily you kept the car at the threshold of traction. And the tyres won't completely let go when you did push them over. They just squealed, but the car remained pretty much stable and predictable! That's how a good car with proper tyres should behave! I enjoyed watching you push it! And obviously, it goes without saying you are an awesome driver as well! Good save! And brave to thr car's ESC and ABS system which kept it in control when half your wheels were on grass and half on the pavement! Great car, great tyres, great driver = thrill & fun!
I have an M240i too and was there in June and its very undulated. There could have been oil, I however listening to the driver lifting the throttle just before a bump and a drop think he had a dab of brake when the carnage came into veiw exasperating lift off oversteer. Those particular bends are flat out! Well caught though, the traction and dynamic stability control systems on these cars are epic, you do need to be pointing the wheels in the right direction though..
It's actually this video that made me realize that I play WAAAAY too many video games, because halfway through, I caught myself trying to look at the minimap to see what turns were coming up ahead.
What helped save you was your ability to see further through the corner by not being directly on the correct line through it as well. Very lucky escape. (Regular TF ring goer)
@@RM-vv9eh It is very possible he will be deemed responsible by the police. All the other cars will likely make a claim against him (should they have insurance that covers TF usage)
@NerdburgChannel I was just thinking at first glance, it's obvious the oil's come from his car. But if he was facing a large bill for other people, surely a solicitor would argue the damaged cars have been travelling too fast for the conditions, slipped on other oil from other vehicles etc.... I tend to find roundabouts by fuel stations are slippy, presumably from people overfilling... just seems like it would be hard to prove whose fuel you slipped on. Or in this guy's case, who's oil 🙂
Experienced this on a roundabout in my first rwd car... was certainly scary! Cant imagine what itll be like doing 5x the speed on a track. Nasty stuff!!
@@escariol at high speed slide everything happens slower and loss of traction is more gradual.. Plus you feel drift angle of the car much better. I mean normal traction loss scenario, not catching ice like oil or coolant while accelerating in the corner in rwd car.
Wow, you started to lose it WHILE TURNING AT SPEED and brakes successfully with two wheels on the grass. Mega save 👌🏻 that sucks all those cars went down :( I wonder who was driving the Beast GT4. I know Maro was in it at one point. Wonder if it crashed with a pro at the wheel 🤔
