Tyres may be worth a mention! I've got 19 inch BMW alloys and I believe they are factory dunlops at 250 a piece, every time I put my foot down be it at 30 or 60 mph I lose a piece of tyre, not sure if it's this crappy British weather but really struggling for traction, back end constantly going in another direction 💥
@@Dino-qq2jp bro, if you can’t afford a car. Do not buy it. Financing is probably the top 5 reason people stay poor. You are financing which means you pay interest for however many years you made your plan for. Then when ur finance is over you’ve lost over 5-10 grand. Because of depreciation and interest. if you’re going to buy a car, make sure you can buy the car twice before buying it. otherwise. Do not buy it
When I purchased my M240i back in August it was down to two identical spec'd 2018 models, one in Alpine White and one in Sapphire Black. I got the price down by about £1500 on both cars because I honestly had no preference between the two, was just going to go for the better price (which really worked in my favour when haggling with the different dealerships). The decision was made for me when I found out the road tax was £150 on the Alpine White and £475 on the Black Sapphire. Alpine white was the free colour option when the car was new which bought the list price down to just under the £40K marker. Just a tip for anyone looking to purchase and not wanting the hefty road tax bill, Alpine White colour option can be found with decent spec.
I averaged 28mpg with mixed driving styles over 2.5yrs and 30k miles in my M240i ownership, but could get 44/45mpg on cruising long journeys. Sometimes I’d get 220-240 miles out of hard driving and 300-350 (and often around 400 with long journeys) with a lighter right foot! Seemed a good compromise on fuel consumption based on the power output compared to some similarly powered cars. I think the M340i I have incoming will be a little worse due to the extra weight and xDrive system 😬
Hi mate, cheers for some more entertainment.Don't let any of those issues get you down.Like I've said before,it's all a learning process mate. Its all worth it as long as you are happy.Have a good Christmas 🎄 Waiting for your next zed video.👍
Yes, my car doesn’t have those, well spotted! There seems to be different spec options for every year they make these. For example, you can spec adaptive cruise on the 2020 model, but you couldn’t on my 2017/18
Hi Joel my M140i which is the same really I get 36 mpg so I reckon that is o.k. have you had a service on your car since you purchased it? Surely should have had a least 1 service by now but don't know the mileage you are currently doing.
@@itsjoel 500 pound seems very good i was expecting alot more tbh! I am thinking of getting one next or maybe a m235i but it would have to be on finance also depending on the monthly payments 🤔
There could be something up with the fuel economy or perhaps driving habits to really hone it's fuel eco. I've been able to return between 33-36mpg on long cruises in eco mode. I sort had to adjust to BMW's "driving style" analysis in order to get those numbers. I can normally get at least 4 stars in both categories of that lol
£65-£70?! Where on earth are you fueling up?! 😂 suprised the MPG is so low tbh, i’ve got 43.2mpg on a long motorway run and average anywhere from 27-32mpg with mixed driving (sport+ and eco pro), aside from that, great video, keep up the good content, stay safe and have a good christmas
Are you shocked because that’s cheap, or expensive? Haha. I think if I really tried I could get 40+ but I guess I just have an excite-able right foot...
@@itsjoel quite expensive tbh! It’s only £1.13 per litre where I am for Super Unleaded (99 RON). Yeah true but then again, smiles per gallon beats miles per gallon!
have you used a fuel additive like "redX you can get them at Halfords for less than 10 pounds. fifth gear did a vid on it years back on an old VW and gained 15hp back. just cleans all the fual lines and the injectors etc.....?
Question. In America, you can purchase this same car with a hardtop convertible. Does that sound correct? Damn, 12 gal per tank? My 2003 Z4 carries a 16 gal tank. Seems odd. I'm thinking you're filling up your car every other day.
On my 440 I was getting about 34mpg and it’s my daily, I have the mppsk fitted now and let’s just say it’s dropped to 26/27mpg😂 I do 40 miles a day roughly and it’s some harsh miles, but love it so much😂 and datum I’m 22 and my insurance is £1000
I have done 46mpg (peaked at 50mpg!) on a long journey in my M140i but have also seen 15.5mpg lol I do a lot of long journeys but I would guess my average is around 33mpg
I’m 23 with 10k milage on my insurance paying £550 annually, I tried this on several addresses and a London postcode went up to £4000+ and uninsurable.. crazy difference. I’m a 66 plate f23 240 so missed out On the LCT and the PPF, saying that BMW have just quoted £700 for major service 😂
I had the M235i for four years, great six cylinder car with a great sound track when worked. I found running costs reasonable and reliability first class. Three months ago I exchanged it for a ten month old MINI JCW with all the toys, this MINI was 38k new where the M235I cost me 30k new, I was surprised just how expensive MINIs are but I got a good price for the BMW in P/X. Yes I'm now driving a car with 100 less bhp but it's hardly noticeable when worked but the excitement in the MINI makes up for that and it's more comfortable, colourful inside and more up to date, but yes the M235i or M240i is a great car and I would recommend it if you need something bigger than a MINI JCW, if you want economy and low running costs then look elsewhere.
Your mpg stacks up with mine- i get about 32mpg from my weekly driving, usually 50% motorway (in eco), and 30% town (in comfort), 20% B Road blasts (in sport). However if I go on a longer motorway drive in eco, I still can't get over this 32mpg, which seems odd to me!
You expected 50mpg? One of my car's is a 2.0 Diesel and even that you have to drive it not too hard to get 50mpg. Your mpg doesn't seem bad tho I once had a 330ci 231bhp 3.0 i6 and I never really saw over 22mpg and could easily get it to like 15-17 lol
I thought I might see that sort of returns on average, but truth is as soon as you put your foot down it comes down drastically. In my Z4 for example you can average 30 with a lot more spirited driving. Definitely not complaining though when you look at the performance!!
Mate, lovely car but you are seriously paying through your nose with the tax and insurance on this! Madness, hope all works out. Keep making the content, enjoy your videos pal :)
I was considering getting one of these in the new year, love them so much but from watching this they aint cheap to run. I feel like your struggling to afford running this car
You are in a tough spot. Since you've made changes to your BMW I believe that you have voided your current warranty. I think the next question you should ask yourself is, "How long do I want to keep the M240i?" There is no right or wrong answer here, only the amount of money you want to commit to your M240i. Once you reach that threshold then you might start looking for a replacement. In any case, I'd keep your Zed 4 until the wheels come off.
Yeah, definitely got no warranty, which doesn’t really concern me too much to be honest. My plan will be to revert it back to stock - ish before selling
