2:50 That sound is probably the most iconic sound in racing games. The M3 from Most Wanted 2005 is basically the mascot car of the series and in that game, the sound here is the EXACT same thing. Absolutely LOVE it.
Despite that it was actually recorded from a TVR Cerbera with no tranny and then they added the straight cut gears post fx ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YNhF6Ow47IY.html
One cannot tell me that double clutch gearbox is faster than that manual gear change in 9:58, even if its true i refuse to belive, that "fuck you tranny and change my gear" style
This man casually went out on the ring in 2004, probably for the dozenth time with BMW’s M3 GTR, this time with a camera, having no idea that he was becoming immortalized as a legend to an entire world of nerds looking back with nostalgia they got from a game that came out a year after this, and that he basically became famous 15-20 years later for TOTAL OTHER REASONS from his gleaming racing career. Amazing. There was no youtube, no clout chasing. Just a man a car and a camera. I can only imagine what a beautiful clear day this was in Germany to go out and do this. The atmosphere. He had no idea!! It was just another run! And yet this is still the most legendary video ever. So beautiful and ironic.
That's why I was "WTF is going on I get pulled over by cross in the middle of a intersection and tells me to get out of my car to impound it I MEAN C'MON WERE IS MY CHARGE FOR THIS!!! ENTERING ROCKPORT probably if o wouldn't came here i would be fine racing other places." F$#% YOU CROSS
Honestly... I came for the need for speed 2005 m3 gtr sound. And I’m not disappointed. But something that really REALLY catches my eye and actually really is crazy to me is how fast he’s driving and how precise he is with turning and power and braking. It’s crazy! How does one keep calm approaching a corner THAT fast. Excellent excellent driver
That actually scared the f**k outta me I thought that the BMW M3 GTR E46 Spun out (Wrote the full name because the legend deserves more that just respect)
I'm agree, although NFS Most Wanted did more known this car, the sound is more similar to NFS Carbon, compare them. I just saw the sound of NFS Most Wanted's BMW M3 GTR is similar to real BMW M3 GTR 2001, the sound of NFS Carbon is similar to real BMW M3 GTR 2004, I guess they did some changes in the engine, I think. Most of what you’re hearing here is gearbox whine. You can link a gearbox to an electric motor, but it won’t bring any real advantages over having a single or two gears. Anyways, hydrogen is the future
Only NFS MW05, Carbon and GTR2 games got the sound right(its interior recording, outside/exhaust sound is generic racing V8 sound for most part). MW05/Carbon use interior sound imitation basaed of real recording, Carbon got louder transmission whine aswell, GTR2 has same sound when you drive in cockpit view tho its flat and quiet, mostly cuz of pretty meh quality of audio in the game, but it's still real sound recorded, just with bad equipment. No other game in history that feature M3 GTR even tried to get the real sound at all..... Just BB era nfs and GTR2. Gran Turismo was using generic terrrible sounds till 6th installment, Forza too. If car will ever appear in Gran Turismo Sport there is hope that we will get it done right this time, since they record real cars(tho sounds are still muted as fuck at times, they should be violently loud and earrapey with bass.....but its maybe to spare ears of casual gamers(?)
with a detune, it can be perfectly street legal the only issue will be topping up with fuel, as most M3 GTRs have racing sockets, although the one in this video has a standard street socket
had to be street legal, regulations for the le mans race or something. However, they only made limited amounts, you'd be able to pick one up for $200,000 AUD
"Let me let you in on a little secret. Street racing in Rockport is finished. I've got a beautiful little surprise that's going to tear you guys apart from the inside out. Now get out of the car."
The original-original BMW M3 GTR that will be living forever in our hearts. This video is the creation of a timeless machine. Actual nexus event right here.
Engine is heard in background or when tranny is silent(at slow downs), tough tranny dominates(it's lovely sound aswell, but engine is most unique thing on earth, it's V8 which doesnt sound like V8
don't mean to burst your bubble but that's not the sound of the engine. The car has a much deeper aggressive sounding V8 engine but the sound of the engine is drowned out by the loud whining noise. That loud whining noise that you hear and think is the sound of the engine is actually the sound of a straight cut gearbox.
+Jerry Gilbert if you hear closely the whining sound is not the engine but the transmission itself so basically the transmission is a straight cut dog clutch gearbox and yes with this tranny you can shift without using a clutch even though there is one
+Jerry Gilbert yes it is possible, you can do that with any car. if the engine is off (for example) you dont have to use the clutch to put it into any gear, meaning the rpm required for that particular speed is in sync (speed 0 and rpm is 0). let's say the car is on and you're going about 100, let's do the rpm breakdown for each gear (in theory) 1 - 10k 2 - 7k 3 - 5k 4 - 3.5k 5 - 2k 6 - 1.5k you can put the gear in without using the clutch at those rpms for that speed, let's say going from 3 to 4, so from 5k rpm to 3.5k rpm, you simply let go of the accelerator, pop the gear out, wait for the rpm to reach 3.5k rpm and pop the gear in (if it grinds, you're either too early or too late) Now let's say you want to downshift from 5 gear to 3. you start out at 2k rpm, let go of the accelerator, pop the gear out, rev the rpm to 5k rpm, pop gear in 3. But in case of these cars. it is a bit different, their gearboxes are designed for that kind of driving and shifting.
The BMW M3 GTR is just the most perfect car in the whole world, it's a legendary GT racing car thanks to the fact it won the 2001 American Le Mans Series' GT division, the 2004 and 2005 Nurburgring 24h and was famous because of NFS. And it sounds so nice with an aggressive V8 roar and transmission whine that is just pure music, a symphony of motorsport. Compared to the M3 GTR used in the 2001 American Le Mans Series, which had 444HP, this particular Nurburgring 24h version has 500HP.
+Xerro No Vatimo no I don't think it is. the m3 gtr was really powerful back in its time in the early 2000s and it still is powerful today. But, since we're living in the 2010's, the power isn't up to date with today's racecars. but yet again, I maybe wrong. like they say though, every dog has its day.
+Winter Solstice yeah that's true. I still like the m3 gtr more. it had a good run in races and I don't think a lot of cars is as legendary as the m3 gtr. I think it's one of the few kind that is legendary yet keeps it lowkey.
This man and his machine are a match made in Heaven. We don't hear a whole lot about Hans Stuck in the U.S.A., but I know he's a racing legend. I have to wonder; Has he ever been passed? Heh He's a racing God. GREAT onboard video! I'd say one of the best I have ever seen!
Nothing in this universe would make me more happy than drive this car, especially on it's top speed, like 9:21 - 9:58. This would be the best moment of my life for REAL
Oh, it could go WAY quicker if its gears weren’t set up as they were. (Im pretty sure the car achieved speeds around 300-320kph specifically in that clip)
Stuck's driving here is a bigger highlight than the car tbqh. He's on the limit through the whole lap, clutchless upshifts, downshifts that sound like it's a semi-auto transmission, even catching a drift near the end of the lap. Incredible this was preserved.
This gives me a theory in the NFS story. The player must've found the car abandoned in one of the race track stadiums in underground 2 and he took it and give it the iconic silver paint job with blue vinyls. I also like it when cross and razor talk about what might be inside the hood because the car has a prototype V8 with straight cut gears transmission. It's also probably the only car in NFS that has a gutted interior.
@@CertifiedWTRPerson i think he meant that the protagonist of nfs mw found and repainted the car after the events of nfs u and before the intro of nfs mw
@@CertifiedWTRPerson same so the player somehow found the gtr in (forgot the name of the city) and repainted won some street races then escaped to rockport before the police could catch him
I know it's been 3 years since you mentioned this comment hahaha. but the most similar part to the game is in the excerpt 1:47 Now tell me... Did you feel nostalgia? Hahahaha
moussa bayou yup i miss Black Box. And yeah ea could have given the Sound assets from Black Box's Filedatabases so the other Studios can use them to get authentic Motor sounds
10:15 when he started celebrating I felt that! He did a great job and also that Engine whine is too good :) absolute nostalgia is the perfect word for this video. And a quick phrase. “I want every single racer on this track... After the guy...” Everyone? “EVERYONEE!” Slightly edited so it fits the racers and the E46 M3 GTR
I think we can all agree this car doesnt sound like most V8 engines but goddamn it is such an eargasm to listen to. Thank you BMW for making such a beautiful yet historic car to grace our ears. Since Mazda with the 787b
You can barely hear the V8 in this video, what you are hearing is the straight cut transmission gears making the whining sound, the engine actually sounds really close to the Mclaren F1 which has a BMW engine in it
you could NOT daily drive this. yes, it's amazing, but you can NOT daily drive it. in fact, it would be a terrible race car if you COULD daily drive it. that's the whole point, the special occasion type driving experience.
I just walk home everyday listening to this. I love all sorts of cars, but there‘s just something about German Engineering that makes this GTR beautiful. The straight cut gears, flat line V8. Most wanted memories lol. Beautiful
@@pedinhuh16i could see that. For me it’s 8:35. Hans slows down IRL, but I’m either braking after the dip or pre drifting that corner. Hans’ achilles heel seems to be at 9:05, setting up for the last corner
Whine aside(Straight cut gears) Engine sound from interior is exacly the same as one we have in Most Wanted 2005. Except GTR2 game from that time Most Wanted 2005 and Carbon are only 2 true appearences of this car, sadly forgotten by car culture itself except handfull of BMW racing team fans, unlike it's grandpa E9 3.0/3.5 CSL batmobile one, and only 10 road going GTRs exist, and we have almost no info on where they are except one single yt video from one car meet. We must do something about it. We as only major group of people on this planet that know and care about this car.
xCynder Rest were immediatly used as race cars, only two were left as an actual road cars, one of which, as said, is at the museum, and the second one was last traced in Japan, that being about 10yr ago
The BMW M3 GTR's 6-speed sequential transmission uses an array of straight-cut gears (spur gears) instead of the traditional helical gears. The spur gears allow the massive BMW P60B40 4.0 L V8 engine to transfer power to the rear clutch-pack limited-slip rear differential, while making that loud spur whine which can be recognized by anyone.
