@@FarmYardGaming Because the people who deny the fact of the TVR Cerbrera's engine sound its because they dont care or they dont like to investigate more about their "beloved game" because they dont want to find their possible "blind flaws" because "Nostalgiajerking reasons". I know that the Heat's M3 GTR's engine sound it comes from a M3 E92; But it has a justification, because the M3 E92's engine its actually an evolution (or successor) of the original engine used for the M3 E46 GTR; But with better perfomance adjustments to be more "profitable" for street use and for beign more mass production.

the engine roars, the gearbox whines. straight cut gears (mentioned at 0:47) just do that; it's the same noise your car makes when you reverse it, and in case you're wondering why; reverse gears are straight cut and not helical like the forward gears, it's because they're cheaper to produce. *[edit: spelling]*

@@LITTEULCEVENN straight cuts produce less friction than helicals, which means less engine power is lost to friction in the gearing, so they're great for getting maximum power to the road in racing. as for the reason they're not used for forward gears in road cars despite the fact they're cheaper to make? that's simple, you know that noise i mentioned when you reverse? it's loud isn't it? it only gets louder the faster you go, it is for this reason that straight cuts are not used in production cars. if you had straight cuts in a little family hatchback (for example), at 70 mph the gears would be louder than the engine, so loud in fact you'd probably need radio equipment built into a helmet or headset to communicate with the person sitting next to you.

Just got done watching a video comparing NFS Heat's sound to Most Wanted's. Heat's doesn't sound right with the engine or gear whine sound (comparing it to these sounds), especially the gear whine, but that's probably because it would've been a hassle to get another sample from the real thing. If you had me listen to Heat's M3 sound and asked me what car that sounded like, M3 wouldn't be the first thing that would come to mind.

I think the M3 GTR sound in heat is almost likely M3 E92 GT2 or normally M3 E92

It's a shame the sound isn't really that accurate in Nfs heat, I'm not sure if the straight cut gears are whining really quiet or if they are not whining at all

Yes for some reason the whining starts in the 5th gear. I also noticed that if you put the GTR engine on the normal M3 the whining will be louder for some reason.

The engine sound for the M3 GTR in Heat was recorded from the exterior, unlike Most Wanted and Carbon where the sound was recorded in interior of the car
