This is more like it! Too many RU-vid channels post drag race videos which are over 10 minutes long, mainly consisting of people waffling on to make themselves feel important when all we really clicked the link for was the actual race. Thank you so much for this! Please give us more of the same.

+Highlight4158: The Panamera Turbo s (The 550cv one, not the 570 one) does the 1000m da in 21.7s, 0.5s quicker than the M5, which represents a 30m difference......quite a huge gap!
Hen zo searching for a stock M6 vs an upgraded AMG is not fair... I'm comparing STOCK cars, and you can not judge a car company by how fast their cars are... lol
What a biased race. BMW, Mercedes and Jaguar all have their top-performance car and the Porsche is their mid-line Panamera. Me thinks the outcome would be very different if the "Turbo" or "Turbo S" was included in this mis-match!
Hmmmmm... 560hp (M5) vs. 525hp (E63) vs. 500hp (XFR) vs... 400hp (Panamera S)??? A 550hp Panamera Turbo S would have been a much more suitable contender, and we all know what the outcome would have been then...
panamera s? why not the gts or turbo. thats stupid. the panamera turbo would of destroyed the competition. they get the highest performance e class and 5 series but dont for the panamera and jag. makes since.
New 4matic AMGs are faster then the RS models and the new 4WD M BMW models will also be faster .. The only advantage Audi has is the quattro sistem and its only faster 0-100kmh ..
A few people complaining it's not fair on the Porsche...These models are all a very similar price, so it's a fair test in my mind. The M5 is £73k and the Panamera S is £78k. Turbo Pan is £103k. Might as well throw in a Mc 570s if we've forgotten what money is.
+danny355 yea you right but theres few thing after those prices. if you ride M series and if you ride Porsche theres difference as in luxury riding features. BMW ///m series is mainly in for race sports version which you are spending money just for the engine and name. while Porsche you gotta pay for engine and the interior and name tag which make the car more expensive. if you actually ride Porsche you can feel a lot different things as in ride feelings compare to ///M series. so I mean In price tag I would say it's fair game. however in engine power wise it's big disadvantage game for Porsche because they are not all about just racing. yet both car is called for luxury seden. but there's difference such as, range rover vs G AMG.
Very good EVO. Where's the Audi rs6? and still the same problem remains. Only European iron. IS -f, cts v, that new q45 with the Gtr chassis. But still a great video. Would have never thought a E63 AMG would be beat by an M5 in a drag race. But dual turbos always help.
Would be intereting if EVO magazine makes a deadly rival episode on the Mercedes AMG GTS and the Mercedes SLS AMG, Basically built in the same plant with very different approach!
C'mon guys. The top 5 Series model. The top E Class model. The 2nd top XF model.. and the mid-range Panamera ??? Yea that's fair ! They're all 4 door behemoth's but even it up some and get the XFR-S and the Panamera Turbo S. Even if the results dont change, we will still see the top end of all 4 makes. Not 2 out of 4 of the top.
listentocKy0893 Then they should've shown price tags instead of the results in performance data. The only numbers the video shows were performance numbers. So if that's all they're going to show.. go all out ! The title of the vid is Drag Race. I do see what you're saying though but we can always look up the prices anywhere. What we can't always see is the best go up against the best of each model in a drag race.
Why did you guys use a manual Porsche Panamera S. It's miles quicker with the PDK! Still though I have to say, Henry Catchpole is one hell of a shifter ;)
+QuadHawk8 After exactly 27 seconds you can see him turning off the traction control, and at that moment, in the top right corner, there is leather. There is not in a panamera unless it's a stick shift! Fact! LOL
+SIMcityplayer2002 the panamera turbo is an AWD car, that might be the reason why they've chosen the S model, to make it more fair cause they are all RWD here ;)
Agree... I have one, and it is somewhat difficult to set up. Should be way easier and instead it's a pain in the ass. Maybe they made it more difficult to preserve the dual clutch??
so true....some car mags make it a point to ignore the price point and others make it a factor in their ultimate decision. If you are comparing your flagship or halo car and ignore the price then they should have chosen the turbo s. But you do have to consider the other 3 competitors cars here and they are using their halo cars. It's all so subjective...
Although I would take the E63 over the M5 (that's just my preference for MB), I have to say that the M5 name is a legacy of super sedans and that is where the whole fast 4 door sedan business started. The M5 legacy is second to none and all other car makers were copying BMW's idea of the original M5 which produced cars like E63 and RS6. But the M5 is still the ultimate super sedan. I don't know if you are a Mercedes Fanboy or not but you are very ignorant about what the name "M5" really means.
I agree and there hasn’t been an AMG with AWD until now in 2014 on the E63. The point is, things are evolving quick and an AWD vs a RWD with both cars having similar HP (anything over 500HP) the AWD will always have the significant advantage from a dig. I bet in the next 10 years or less (maybe 5 years) the AWD will be in the M “recipe”.
Jorge Crespo Im a huge bimmer fan, but it looks like he (the bimmer) got a little jump and that AMG still was only 1 MPH slower. Gotta give props where they are due. AMG looked strong!
You are a bimmer fan and say the bmw got a little jump. You are absolutely NOT a bimmer fan since you would now he already activated Launch Control and if you were youd already know that and wouldnt make this comment. For fuck sake its in the video also check out at the speedo where it says Launch Control active.
Hollyweed oh sweetheart, I am not saying I didnt understand he used launch control and that is clearly the reason it seems that he got out of the hole better. I am saying that at 50 seconds (really 51) that literally the bimmer got a jump on the AMG right as the G was being sounded in go. If you look after that, the AMG was sleeping on the line and then launched. So literally, the bimmer got a jump on the AMG from the word go, no pun intended. By the time the AMG even pressed the gas the Bimmer was already at 5mph. Now, looking at the final times, the AMG was 3ish 10ths off the Bimmer and about 1 MPH down. That tells me that AMG was also pulling on that Bimmer. Now even if the Bimmer was at 3 MPH before the AMG hit the gas, the information still says the same thing...................that the AMG pulled on the Bimmer. However, I am not butt-hurt if the AMG is faster in any way, that is a heck of a car!!
I think Evo should repeat this with the new E63 vs M5, the new power distribution (60/40) on the Merc should really improve it, I want to know whether it's enough to beat the M5.
Now 11 years and the world has gone mad, with hot hatches now quicker, and a Plaid being 14 seconds quicker to 150😮 less than half the time. mind bending. I remember when an XR3i felt and actually looked quick lol
why not porsche panamera turbo s? It would have bet them all together! Every model from the video has max power nd only porsche has the worst! If it was turbo s bmw would loose so badly.
With these modern cars it's less about the driver and more about the software. Which manufacture has the best computer engineers to build their launch control system.
Straight line performances and acceleration mean nothing with SEDANS. Everyday usability and rewarding driving experiences are priceless. I've driven the Panamera Diesel and for a diesel, its pretty damn fun.

Codename73 So now you think it would be fair if you put the most upmarket, most powerful and fastest E63 against a normal M5? HA. Bring the M5 Jahre 30 edition. Also, can't you admire the amazing engineering done by BMW? The M5 is heavier, slower to 60mph, cheaper, RWD and has to be limited but still wins. That is the best engineering you get from Germany. I can say the same about the X6M vs GLE 63 AMG. Just imagine what would happen to it's class if it was given AWD and it went on a diet.
What are you talking about man. It's a 2016 M5 Vs a 2016 E63 S. What do you mean most upmarket... The m6 is comparable against an amg black series or AMG GT not an E class family sedan.
A Fan the E63 AMG S is the most powerful E63 AMG. It makes perfect sense to put it against the most powerful M5 (Jahre 30 edition or pure metal edition). 2016 E63 AMG S vs 2016 BMW M5 pure metal edition or BMW M5 Jahre 30 edition.
Haha yeah but this was only the Panamera S and there are a Panamera Turbo and a Panamera Turbo S and they would Destroy the 2014 E63. I do however not love how the panamera looks .
halldorarni22 I dunno about that, 2014 E63 has a huge power increase over the model in this video and does 0-60 in 3.5 seconds. The Panamera Turbo S might be able to hang with it
