In this part we going to continue with the installation of the connection rod bearings ( big end bearings ) + the installation of the cylinder head. As usual we going to include some tips about this jobs.

Im in process of assembling my own m57tu2 engine after failure of valve guides/seals. Did you check yours as they are known to wear on exhaust side. My engine done 130k and was fully serviced on time. Great videos by the way👍

The machine shop have checked them, they were all fine. Really rarely we encounter problems with the valve guides on this engines, but I guess is not impossible

nice one , do you know if its possible to replace valve stems seals on bmw 116i f20 ?witout taking the head off ,use valve tool instead / thanks rob

It should be possible. I don't see any reason for removing the cylinder head

Hi great content love watching Im rebuilding an m57 335d 2012 with Aliminium block would the torque setting be the same for the cylinder head and the con rods bolts as the videos you have done on theses engine’s?

Hi Crack I’m in need of help! I’m rebuilding a n57d30a I’ve the crack and con rods in with new TDC bearings but as I’m turning the crack with all 6 pistons in it’s spinning free but then get tight in certain places. Is this normal or not thanks

bonjour je reviens sur le forum pour solliciter votre aide j'ai constater une baisse excessive du liquide de refroidissement sur mon X5 E53 3.D 2002 sans huile dans la vase d'expansion sans eau dans le moteur pas de fumer blanche ni noir et pas de bruit anormale du moteur durite molle d’âpres vous d’où peut venir le problème je vous remercie d'avance de votre aide .

Its not ok to stop turning the torq wrench before it clicks when you stop and go again the force of the friction goes up and the torq wrench gets tricked its a lesson learned the hard way just sharing experience.😅

No Ista D doesn't have that. This is the reason that I rarely use it ( + it is much slower, to connect it to the car )

@@crank3646 ok man thanks for replying ,ive got a bmw x5 e53 20005, fog lights and reverse light fault .when i press fog light button or reverse it shows activated in scan tool , if i bi-directionaly activate they work . but when reverse is selected or fog light pressed in car i get nothing any ideas ?thanks for your help

Hi bro I dont understand one thing, The head gasket which was in the engine was 2 hole type and you have resurfaced the head and you still bought the same 2 holes type gasket, i dont understand this point

You only need to change the headgasket is you resurfaced the block, head does not made any diferecence.

@@stefanvalchev8066 Resurface the head makes no diference, i have assembled many m57 heads always with the same number of holes, bmw manual says that gasket is for piston protrusion nothing to do with head, just piston protrusion. So if nothing is changed on the block you will always use the same type of gasket.

Stop giving advices, you only change the head gasket if you take to much from the cilinder head, I did the same, because I take very very little from the head gasket I didn’t change the head gasket

Another awesome video. I have 2 melted pistons, is it ok to replace just the 2 pistons from 2nd hand engine? And is it ok to use my rods? Thanks.

Yes it is ok, to use second hand piston, AS LONG as they are the same as yours. M47 and M57 have different pistons from year to year, you need to be extra careful when purchasing them. Most of the time, people are selling the pistons with the rods, so if it was me, for several more euros I was going to replace them.

On a different website i founda that torque spec is 50nm +120”+120” which one is the right one?

On the ista+ engine M57T2 / TOP and the 635d is exactly like that, the degrees of turning are 2x120 degrees !!!

I just lost a rod bearing in my 335d, and I'm hoping the hardened surface of the crank survived so I can do a rebuild without having to replace it......Wishfull thinking maybe.

I have a m57n2 (30d) and the oil is mixed with coolant and coolant mixed with oil - any ideas what it can be? Car starts and runs fine with no smoke although I’ve not driven it since this discovery.

Yes it is possible that to be the case. Try with changing the oil more often few times. If this don't help just change them
