No worries, as the adhesive tape needs to hold the cable in place during the assembly procedure only. After that, it has nothing to do, so if it dries out, nothing happens. We do these repairs with lifetime warranty, our experience is that once a repair was carried out properly, it will never fail again...

You put the speedo needles back incorrectly. They need to be aimed slightly under their low-end...

No worries, I will help! Just try to realign the LCD on the cable, as if the pads of the LCD do not match the pads of the cable, it will not work. Just let me know if it helped!

You need to grab te shaft with a long nose plyers from the back side of the panel. It is not easy as there is a little gap to go in there, but can be done with a long enough nose plyers. Before removeing it, mark the zero point of the gauge, so you will know where to put it back, this was there is no to recalibrate anything...

Yes it does. This silver ribbon cable replaces the faullty one. I removed the faulty cable from the unit before I started the video.

Good thought, but as you see there was no need to recalibrate the unit... Anyway, your method also works great. The needle removal is not too difficult, I'll upload a video later on with covers this topic.

how did you remove clocks needles and dials part if you don't mind as replacing ribbon is the easiest to do

orginal sticks together in a fringe. But changing your time has served the circuit board display. Tape does not guarantee a long time. Tapes become loose over time. Pixels contacts display deformations will appear.

Hello. Nice job. I am doing mine right now but can't get the pointer needles off and I do not want to drill into the speedo. Do the pointer needles need a bit of force to come off or what? Thank you.

Hi, please i would like to know if the Plastic is only fixed by screws. Since i remove the 4 screws, but the plastic does not come out. Can you possible help mee.

The KIT comes with a very detailed repair video + a printed color repair manual that shows you both procedures, such as: - repair with removed needles (no drilling required) - repair without removing the needles (drilling required) The manual shows precisely where to drill the holes. Balazs

Have you created the video to remove the needles from the cluster? Or what is the "simple process" to remove? it seems that when you attempt to remove or lift, it puts tension on the copper springs underneath...in addition, when you expose the pin holding the needle and grip with a long nose plier, the needle still dosent want to disengage. Please advise.

Nice vid, but I read in alot of tutorials that you're not allowed to remove the needles for the speedo, mileage and RPM because then you will have to have them calibrated. I drilled holes on the bottom of mine to be able to unscrew the unit, the holes are not visible when the cluster is assembled.

The KIT comes with a needle removal tool, so you can easily remove and put back the needle. This procedure is fully covered by the repair manual.

Hey... I opened up the speedo but the needles aren't coming off. They are tied to a thin coil. Which I don't know if I should remove. Additionally the mpg needle doesn't budge. It doesn't come out like the others I don't want to break it. Please help. Can I im you.

Hello, On M5 cluster, the oil temperature pointer, is the same procedure than the other clusters? I mean, can i simply pull it like the consume pointer?

Hi, well this cable replacement will solve the pixel probelms - definitley. This is an UNCUT video so can see it with your very eyes. You may also need to replace the bulbs if the display is DIM. Balazs

Unfortunately there is nothing for E46. E46 speedometer displays do not tend to go faulty, so we do not have a repair kit for it. If your display is completely dead, you may need to check the bulb behind the display...

Actually, the button to the right, that changes the time is intermittent and I thought maybe there would be a replacement part available. I don't mess with it, thinking that something worse might happen with it... so I just leave well enough alone!

I've replaced it on my E39. When I checked left side of LCD was working 100% great, but the right side was blurred. Disassembled, realigned ribbon cable again and checked again. Now it's all artifacts :((

Our mileage, KM, and outside temperature does not light up at ALL, but the fasten seat belts and key in ignition lights do but with a few pixels missing. Would replacing the ribbon with your kit work for this or would we need to replace bulbs as well? Needless to say we only want to disassemble this once. Any assistance you can offer would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, most likely you have faulty bulbs behind your display (that makes part of your display completely dark), and a faulty ribbon cable that makes the resto of the display pixelated. . I hope I helped, Balazs

Nothing else needs to be replaced. My E39 also had dead pixels, will need to replace that cable too.

This is a special silver cable that does not need any heat bonding, or glue. You can use it as seen on the video.
