Hi Dan - just picked up a 2003 1150 GSA and I’m going to change the battery so I know it’s fresh and hopefully will last the next few years trouble free. Just wanted to say thank you once again for your “ how to “ videos - you’ve helped me with the DR650 suspension and here again with the tank removal on the 1150. Next video I’ll be watching is how to remove the tank components so I can check/change the fuel filter and find out why the fuel gauge is intermittently working. Very much appreciate the time and effort it takes to do these uploads for us mate. Cheers

Thanks for watching Neville. That will be a great bike I hope you enjoy it. I think the gsa is slightly different for tank removal it should have a few quick disconnects for the fuel lines down where I had hose clamps other than that I think it is very similar

Thanks Dan - I removed the side cover and they do have the quick release disconnects so that’s a bonus. One was leaking slightly when I put it back together so a little gentle squeeze with some side cutters fixed it for now. What a beautiful old bike to ride and with only 35000 kilometres it’s still quite tight overall. I’ll upgrade the suspension at some point soon - it’s about the only thing that needs attention after the battery replacement. Cheers mate.

Very useful videos, thanks for that! I recently purchased a 2001 GS1150 and have been presented with my first repare which is replacing the fuel distributor. Thanks to your videos I at least know how to get to it...

I have the same bike, in the same yellow! My best modification was/is adding quick disconnects for the fuel lines. Not the garbage BMW options, rather nice big and fat stainless steel.

Yes I have looked at them, one day I will do the upgrade.

Hey up Dan , Thank you so much for the video, I have lifted the tank up ,but never risked removing it from the bike ,your video gave me confidence to give it a go and allowed me to fit a new battery, all went well, I hope you don't mind me saying ,when I put the tank down the bike ran really rough , I had dislodged the throttle cable from its socket,! just pushed it back and all was well. Thanks again

Hey Eddie, glad I could help. I have heard of that happening before but have never done it myself. Glad it was an easy fix. I need to replace the battery on mine, that is my next job!

Hi Daniel, hope you are well. Always liked the big bm, but the height's a bit scary imo. Super video, good instruction. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe and keep up the good work.

Hi! Is it a problem if the engine is still hot? Or better remove the tank with a cold engine? Thanks man!
@MOTODANS
@MOTODANS 2 месяца назад
Hey, no problem doing when hot just be careful about spilling the fuel when you take the lines off
