I had a Vespa 250 that I installed a stebel nautilus compact air horn on. I was getting no respect with the standard horn. I sold the Vespa but I’ve still got the horn. You’ve encouraged me to fit it to one of my steeds.

Crimp connectors with built in adhesive heat shrink would be best for this application(both ends), especially if you plan on ever taking it off road and easier yet. Good ratchet crimpers will do a much more reliable connection than a solder joint, as they tend in vibration to cause a hard spot for the wire to anneal against and fracture. Great adhesive heat shrink crimp connectors are available at marine suppliers. That is why aerospace almost exclusively uses crimp connectors.

just a tip when using them unprotected connectors up front like that run the heat shrink over the spade end ..leaving the gap for the connection of coarse lol because no matter how well protected it might be the weather will find away....I love all the gadgets on the bike .one can never have to many toys well done mate

Yes a good upgrade on the bike, I have installed one too as you can never be loud enough with a horn. An alternative if you dont have a soldering iron is soldered crimps they are basically solder joints and heat shrink all in one and just need heating with a match to join cabling. Id also suggest similar installs are done with a sleeve over the cabling for additional protection from damage and ease of clipping in place either heat shrink, spiral wrap or Braided Expandable sleeving.

Hi TMF, I’ve just fitted a Sound Bomb to my R1250GS and I’m concerned about how it interferes with the front brake hose and ABS cable. The same interference can be seen on your video at 7.33. Have you had any issues with it or seen any sign of damage to the brake hose, etc?

Superb installation, TMF. I think my OCD alarm went off when you stripped the wires and didn’t chase down the bits! 😉 A good loud horn, some bright lights and a healthy exhaust note all add up to a bit more safety for us all. I’ve actually been thinking of adding a truck/lorry-style air horn to my HD Fatboy. 🏍👍🏍

What a great piece of kit that EZCan is, I wish they did it for the Honda NC750x. The soundbomb is good I have one fitted to my bike, and in most part it parted the ways so to speak through a long traffic queue at the dreaded Dartford Tunnel today. I purchased a Dinali power hub for my accessories, and fitted the bomb through that device. A word of warning though, even though the hub is supposed to handle 30amps I think the bomb at 25amps has blown the relay. On its way back to the suppliers as we speak. Brilliant, concise video, well filmed as usual my flyer.

I've been looking to get a louder horn since I heard the pathetic beep beep on my 2019 1250GS. Settled on the Denali cansmart setup and the Sound Bomb. I Watched quite a few videos on the sound bomb and you have one of the best videos on the installation and setup of this horn. I saw you cringe when you demoed the horn but the video (no video) couldn't depict how loud this horn really is. 𝙃𝙊𝙇𝙔 𝙈𝙊𝙇𝙔!! This thing is 𝗟𝗢𝗨𝗗!!! I was blown away, as soon as my ears quit ringing I finished the installation. Just what I was looking for, a horn that is so loud that people will react as soon as they hear it. The previous three bikes I had I installed "fiam" car horns and they were good but no where near as loud as the Sound Bomb. 𝙏𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙠𝙨!......now to work on the lights.

Thank you for the video. Is there enough clearance between the bottom of the Denali and the suspension wishbone? I'm concerned that during hard off road riding, the suspension can compress to the point where the horn is smashed by the suspension up travel. I do alot of off road riding with my 18 GS. Thanks

I noticed that you could turn the handlebars and the horn cleared the fork legs on either side, but what about if you bottom out the front end? It looked like the bottom of the horn might contact that cross-brace between the forks.

Nope - the bracket is specifically designed for the GS and there is no impact on fork travel (don't forget the telelever front end doesn't tend to dive like conventional forks).....

Another good video, it is one of the few things that I’m disappointed with on my GS, especially after having a K100 and K1100, which sounded like they may of come from BMWs car industry, this one sounds more like from my old moped. The stock horn sounds like it belongs on a 49cc moped from the 70's, it's rather embarrassing to even use it. I saw a friend in the next lane at a stoplight the other day and honked to get their attention forgetting how pathetic the horn sounded, any thoughts of how cool I looked an my GS Rallye immediately evaporated. The sound bomb seems a little OTT, is there not something that's a straight swap for the OEM unit?

The only downside of using Hex EZ Can for horn is that it robs one of the high current circuits which could be used for the Aux lights. if you use one high current circuit for each aux light (Right and Left), you can have a dimming of that light in favour of the indicator when you make a turn signal, making the flashing indicator easier to see with no aux light on that side of the bike. Swings and roundabouts really, a bit harder to fit and wire with the relay, but what a HORN toot-toot (or rather BLAST-BLAST). I also kept the stock horn wired and spliced the relay signal cable to have both operate on the horn button.

Denali's is a branded version from Hex. Looks like just the wiring harness is included too. Hex EZ can 2 includes components for both 2 and three wire connectors. Pre made Harness is sold separately.

I fit one of these on my bike the other month. Couple of things to mention, firstly; you can buy a wiring harness for it which makes it pretty much plug and play if you are noob like me. Secondly, the negative I have found with this horn is that it really gets people's back up when you use it. This video and all others on the internet do not do it ANY justice, you have to hear to believe in terms of just how loud it is. There isn't really a polite way to use it and people can get very agitated when they hear it.

Why did you not use a Delani CANsmart rather than the Hexcan? the CANsmart has plug & play so no need for wire cutting or soldering, also comes with cables long enough to reach the lights

Hex is plug n play too....

Most horns on bikes are the cheap version. Considering how much we pay for these bikes you would think they would upgrade the horn. One of the first things i do on a new bike is change the horn. My RT has the one you now have. Love the look i get from car drivers when its used.

Here's the problem. You might want to check your settings. Denali rates the horn at 20amps. The EZcan instructions say determine amps by Watts/12 = amps plus 30% over, so that would be at least 25 amps. You'd need to determine the total power of your lights and add that. My light are 20W total (1.6 amp) so I need to add that which I made 2 amps. You can see just these two device alone are getting mighty close to that 30 limit. Don't make the mistake of just adding things and selecting an icon for what it is. Hex recommends the total for all circuits not to exceed 30 amps. Do not use the default values per device, it's just a basic setting.Do the calculation watts divided by Volts to get Amps and set each channel 30% over to be safe.

There is no such thing as a horn that's to loud on a bike that's for sure. But I have to say, it looks like the horn is pulling almost as much current as the EZcan has to offer, with the extra aux lights (which I think would draw very little being LED) dimming every time you hit the horn would bug me, especially at night. Maybe with the engine running this might not happen, but for me, it gives a very heath robinson look to the install. I'd be looking at using the EZcan to feed a relay which in turn would take a feed directly off the battery.

I also had a Denali Soundbomb Mini horn installed on my 2015 R1200GS. I had it done at the 2017 BMW Rally in Salt Lake City, Utah. They had various horns on display that one could try. The Soundbomb Mini seemed plenty loud to me, and still does installed on my bike. A concern I had was that if a horn was extremely loud, I might be shy about using it.
