@livey oone Needless to say coil springs were an option from the factory but unless requested all standard E53 X5's were supplied with rear airbag suspension
Were the replacement bags ebay parts also? That would probably explain the pop. At $130 US, Arnott's replacement bags are a bargain and have lasted me 5 years and counting.
Did you install a bypass tool to prevent false error codes ? And if not, how do you stop warning error / suspension codes on the dash after coil installation / thanks
Pentru Alex Pacuraru,am probleme cu suspensia spate, roata stanga e mai ridicata cu 5 cm fata de cea din dreapta,nu-i gaseste nimeni leacul.Vreau sa-i pun arcuri.Unde gasesc kit de conversie ?
So does it trigger a fault on the computer ?? I see the kit has scanner instructions !! So if u dont have one u need to take it to someone that can cancel the fault code ??
Had the same problem The air bags I bought on EBay were Chinese and the band around the top was not crimped enough I had 2 fail on me reported them to eBay but they are still selling them 🤷🏼♂️. Very dangerous if the blow at speed
These cars have some of the most simple air suspensions on them. They are easy to repair and if you buy quality parts, they don't break. In 215,000 miles and 17 years it has needed 1 accumulator and just finally needed the rear bags replaced. If you're the one doing the wrenching and you keep having issues, it's probably your wrenches that cause it.
Can you do this on an E39 touring? The setup looks virtually the same but for some reason the haynes manual says you have to drop the subframe to change the springs!?
GOOD MORNING I SAW YOUR VIDEO MY QUESTION IS CAN I REMOVE THE SHOWER HEADS IN MY 2004 BMW525 E61 XDRIVE TOURING WITH SPRINGS AS YOU DID? THANKS I WAIT FOR YOUR ANSWER. GOOD DAY. GREETING FROM AUGUSTINE
Well done 👍🏻 I would like try this on my wife's F11 the next time an airbag and the compressor go down! Effing BMW are tw*ts! Just as well we can do these jobs or it would cost thousands £££ Arnotts and AirSus airbags are far superior to BMW's (which a bmw tech told me are not too far removed from the Chinese knock-offs! (Only 10 times the cost)!
No need to touch the rear shocks it's a replacement kit off Ebay. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-E53-X5-Rear-Suspension-Air-Bag-to-Coil-Spring-Conversion-Kit-2000-2006-/132033095244?fits=Car+Make%3ABMW%7CModel%3AX5%7CPlat_Gen%3AE53&hash=item1ebdc9264c:g:C44AAOSwcLxYIH18
OEM cars yes, I am asking what do you do when you take out your air suspension and have no manual adjuster installed. i have air suspension and sensors are giving info to compressor and valves to adjust height when loaded unevenly. what to do with headlights when you take out air suspension which was responsible for headlight/car horisontal adjustment?
The front suspension on a e53 doesn't need converting as it already has springs on the front. The issue was the air suspension kept collapsing on the rear
I managed to change my front air suspension to coil strut tried the rear but when I remove the shock the wheel hub has no play to push down to get coil spring in any ideas ?
Ya have to undo the anti roll bar linkage.. just done one side today on mine and it took me 4hours to get everything undone and fitted back together.. I did it on the floor outside too
Hi guy if you buy scanner 1.40 software with cable you can block this message. I buy scanner with software on action for £1. 😏 message is gone and never come back.
You can see how much your car dropped down when loading to get a better estimate about your load distribution but thats about it. But if you leave your engine turned off and key in your pocket then the car won't automatically lift the rear when loading a trailer. So you can see the same thing as well. There is no difference in ride quality but IMO springs are a bit worse because they do not allow for any compensation while bags take a little bit more time before they can compress the air leaving you with a smoother ride. Springs are stiff and react always the same meaning the force that went into them has to come out again. On bags a lot of force gets lost when the force was too short due to the air compression delay letting you float over things rather then jump over things :)
