hi I've got a dumb question, I'm relatively new to cars but got myself a damaged Z4 for £1K, I want to replace the brakes with performance parts but looking at OEM compatible parts, the rear disks are always solid, and smaller also i was going to get a biasing valve so I can undo some of the factory overbiasing, as such I would like larger disks in the rear is there any reason why I can't just buy 4 of the same rotor and use it all corners? or do I need to get different rotors for the rear? I can't find an answer elsewhere cheers
You would need a bracket/adapter to mount the rear caliper in a different location to accommodate a larger rotor in the rear. You would also need larger calipers in the rear, and possibly a more powerful master cylinder. 80 to 85% of the braking is done by the front brakes vs the rear. Messing with the brake biasing can also change the handling performance of the car while braking making it unstable. I would proceed with caution and suggest upgrading to something like I did in the video 1st. Then look into what racing kits can be applied to the car like Brembo or Wilwood. Good luck!
