I like taller bars. I run a BMX handlebar on my commuter bike, it's a 90s 26er chromoly frame that I adapted 650b/27.5 wheels on it. The BMX handlebars are great for a MTB frame, cause you have a more upright position and comfort and @ the same time you have a lot of control I also have a small ape hanger bar on my cruiser bicycle, it works really well for me

When i started racing my bars was 7.75" rise that come on my bike then i got some S&M slam bars in 8" rise then went to volume regal beagle bars in red then animal bikes Bob scerbo bars then Standard Bykes strip bars in 9" rise now i'm on Fiend Reynolds bars in 9.25 rise that are 774g / 1.71lbs and i'm 6 foot 4" tall aswell 👍

The push-up tip is a great way to explain it. If you fire out a few push-ups where do your hands naturally land on the ground. Make your bars that wide too.

Great video! I want to add that as you move the bars back, the upsweep flattens. My Cult bars when lined up with the fork actually go down a little. I tend to like more upsweep so when I pull the bars back they are close to flat. Something to think about. I might try moving them forward like you said to see if I like it. Thanks for all the info!

Only my opinion obviously. The oversized clamp is good on paper as it gives them a bigger area to clamp hence wont move on impact. On the other hand the typical set already holds fairly well an usually only moves if you have stripped something along the way or a big impact, so moving with impact atleast in my head seems better as it gives way instead bashing your teeth out, your bars would move instead.

Do something about crank styles, wheels calibration and the pros and cons of brakes or no brakes. I just got back into riding and I'm really enjoying the new yet familiar recreational and positive activity/lifestyle. I grew up riding bikes and doing a little street and dirt in the mid-late 90's and I also skateboarded then just skated for 20+ years until a couple of years ago when Dylan Rieder passed away and I went to jail and after I got out I have even done a tic-tac or anything. My big brother came by and asked if I wanted a bike and I sure did because I'm tired of sitting around the house (mostly working on guitars and effects) in my spare time. Hopefully I can get my legs back and get back to skating as well. The bike is a fit bike with an Eastern rim on the front with a vans tire and the crank wheel is (shit idk lol) with another none matching vans tire, Stock fit 4 piece crank and chain and stock fit pedals. Not sure of the bars but I'm used to the short style bars from the dark ages. I'm getting adjusted to them but I'm still in favor of slightly shorter grip lengths. Anyway, I don't have many people to discuss my passions and creative outlets so I chose to do so here. Thanks for the refresher course and updated information.

It's a marketing ploy. That or just shows how poor parts are now, too much heat treatment and too little material. The old parts never used to magically blow out, you'd almost always end up just bending them severely before any fractures took place. @@AllDayBikes Do tell why you dislike coasters :) I love my coasters personally, but they're terrible designs, always breaking/ needing attention with no spares available. I avoided them for a long time, people always telling me to get one, gave in and got one several years ago. While it opened up my riding, they cause havoc with 4 pegs, and brakes, always having to service my bike. But i have a spare bike for when i'm lazy :D Thankfully i stocked up on some midschool parts that i couldn't bare to be without. Lack of narrow tires (in UK) is also annoying as i don't have any more spare. I understand why manufacturers sell for the majority, and take the routes they do, but these days because most brands don't supply what i want i don't support them through clothes and dvd purchases either, not that these are really available here anyway. Just a sign of how times change i guess :)
