Watch in High Definition! On August 8th, 2011, a very rare BNSF train arrived in San Diego (like a blast from the past). The BNSF M-BARSDG1-08 arrived in San Diego at 1:45 PM! The train normally arrives in San Diego around midnight or later, and although it occasionally arrives as early as 10 PM, it never arrives during daylight, let alone early afternoon. To top it off, the lead locomotive was a Dash 9! I was at my house and I thought I heard a K3LA. I turned on my scanner and sure enough, it was the Southbound DAYGO with BNSF 4562 leading. I went racing down to the Downtown San Diego BNSF yard and got there in time to see about 15 minutes of switching. BNSF C44-9W 4562 in Heritage III colors leads. BNSF ES44DCs 7516, 7709, 7768 and 7732 were trailing. Two additional ES44DCs (not shown) had been the DPU on the train. BNSF GP60Ms 113 and 152 sit in the foreground. 7516's air compressor was in serious need of some lubrication or repairs. Enjoy the sounds of the GE 7FDL-16 and GEVO-12 engines, as well as 4562's K3LA horn, bell, brakes, and compressor.
