The C-ABMBEN has just departed the Absaloka Mine (Hardin, MT) and now heads for the Forsyth Sub with a load of Montana Black Gold. These were the good ole days when MAC's were in charge of the Coal. Enjoy!
So the grades varies from 1.02% to 0.36% on the BNSF Sarpy Subdivsion.. So every train gets a standard 3-4 locomotives. Not much power is needed to move the empties. The coal loads come down the hill and the emptys up.
