Best tutorial I've found for basics! Getting really tired of those many self-proclaimed sifus, spreading nonsense. This is down to earth, skilful, no bullshit, excellent technique, well explained and demonstrated. Thanks for sharing.
@@sibpalkim.a6382 I discovered the staff 2 weeks ago and started fooling around on my own. Actually, most of the moves you show, I discovered them on my own. It's all logic, the natural restrictions of what you can do with one hand are a good guide. Then I found this video, and it confirmed that I was not so stupid at all ;-) and now I use it to correct and hone my skills. I've been playing waterpolo in my youth. It's actually very similar because the ball it too big to just grab it in one hand, and you are not allowed to hold it in both. So you have to change hands on the ball all the time, and you can only do that by feeling and sticking to the ball while you move it around. That way the staff feels quite familiar, and I'm learning incredibly fast. Can do all the moves here already. Not as good as you, of course, but it's fun and I'm improving every day. Thanks so much for sharing this.
The speed is impressive, the control even more so: the way you 'freeze' the bo at certain crucial moments in each movement to fully demonstrate the proper hand position is fantastic. The quote at the end reinforced by the blooper, as painful as it looked, is also amazing work: no matter how proficient one believes oneself to be there is always room for improvement so never become complacent in your training. Well done good sir.
You should look into contact staff! I got into that, but I do enjoy a lot of the spinning aspect of staves so I was checking this out for any new ideas. Thanks for the compilation!
❤This is Such a great Video I Found. Just like Kata in Karate. No one Teach me this. In Bharat . Maharashtra State Bo Staff called Lathi Kathi. Here They Used 52 Techniques. Called Haath. Or Daav. You showing me 17 of them I think. Nobody teach us weapons. Thank You Very Much You Show us this techniques. ❤🙏 Keep uploading this type of Videos👍
Enfin autre chose que de la technique pieds poings.. Les arts martiaux ce sont aussi les armes.. Le katana, l 'épée, le sabre, le bô, nunchaku.... ect ect
Thank you, this is one of the best, clear visual explanations I have seen online. These made me pick up my bo staff again. Please show us basics. I am sure there is a lot we could relearn, finetune or even start from scratch.
I really like that you show yourself spinning from the back not the front, this way I have the same perspective as you and its less confusing thank you
I learned staff work when I did combat ju jitsu a long time ago along with other weapons. Strikes, blocks and parries etc. Never did any spinning though as it was frowned upon. After watching this video I've tried it and it really is helping old injuries. Thanks.
Very motivational clip at the end. I like that you've shown you're very skilled and still you mess up from time to time. I love working with the bo staff it's very fulfilling to come up with different ways each technique can lead into one another
I found your video at the point in my training, where I can understand what you're doing without being told, just shown. I think I can go next level now. You've got style in your movement. Thank you. Sorry you hit your fingers at the end.
Insanely well done. I can only hope to approach that level of control some day. I've trained several of these already, but I'm pleased to see there's still more to try. In regards to the final motto, I like a quote from blues guitarist Albert King (to Stevie Ray Vaughan): The better you gét, the harder you wórk. Don't ever say "ow, I've got it made, I've got enough."
I was practice martial arts for lot of year, Just basic things for long time With patience , those are realy clean moviment thank You for sharing, i play With Flow arts staff( firestaff- acro) and im Always inspirated from those things
I’ve loved bo training since I started in Okinawa in the 80s. Now I’m older, I carry a bo (and sometimes a quarter-staff) with me as a walking stick. It’s good Zen, and also good for the joints. Guess it’s good to keep a martial edge on, as well.
Yeah! You called it a bo and later referred to different weapon -- a quarter-staff. You did not call it a "bo-staff" which is basically saying "bo-bo" or "staff-staff".
