Also the paper in a bowl game is called “Fish Bowl”. Whoever taught you might not have known the name. That or they had a “he who will not be named” thing going on😂
It is so funny when I am watching this back and see Jamie's love for Final Girl, and then having her work for VanRyder Games now. So happy for you guys and your success, and continued success.
There's a game that myself and a group of friends and family members have been playing for over 40 years. It is Avoln Hill Rail Baron. Now, we do have several house rules.
Castles of Burgundy, sooooo good. If you have ever seen Supernatural, then you would know that to kill vampires you cut off their heads and the way to kill ghosts is salt and burn their bones.
I splurged on the special edition of CoB...and I've never regretted it. Usually for a box that big, people go, whoa, that game must take like 12 hours to play. Nope, it's just a beautiful, elegant, design deluxified to the hilt. It's the only kickstarter I own my wife will actually play with me :). Wingspan, nuff said.
I'm gonna probably get dumped on, but Monopoly will never die. I will probably never play it again, but almost everyone has interacted with it. Catan is also very ubiquitous in the community.
I just recently bought and played my first game ever of Ticket to Ride. We got the OG version, and I honestly don't know how it took me this long to play it. Super fun. Now I just have to get my new deluxe Castles of Burgundy to the table and play that game for the first time. 😳
When it comes to pandemic, season 1 is like playing 12 games of normal pandemic with some add one. If you don’t like pandemic, don’t play season 1. Season 0 shakes things up big time and Star Wars is like a completely different game and is a lot of fun if you know the clone wars show and even if you don’t.
For me I cant see mythic mischief, or root ever going away. I don't think too many bones will but I'm curious if elder scrolls will take its place since they seem similar. Honestly almost anything from leder, iv, or chip theory has a good chance of always being something I'm eager to play at any given time.
Love Twilight Struggle, die Burgen and Monikers! I think the game of Go will be played millenia from now... For something closer to home I would say Race for the Galaxy. I can see Scotland Yard following the Monikers route of being reinvented every decade or so: Letters from Whitechapel in 2011--> Mind MGMT in 2021...
Funnily enough the games that no-one has mentioned and have stood the test of time are Chess, Monopoly and Cluedo. They still sell by the shedful even now.
My collection of games has some lesser talked about games that apparently will never die for me - I’ve had them for 10 to 20 years. and they’re still getting played: - Cleopatra and the Society of Architects - 2006 - Yspahan - 2006 - Helden in der Unterwelt - 2005 - Era of Inventions - 2010 - Last Will - 2011 among others
I agree with Jeff that castles might be perfect mechanically. It's a fantastic game and, honestly, the only downside is learning the yellow building powers/interpreting the iconography on the player aids. Outside of that, in my opinion, learning to play the game isn't that complex and it works soooooo well!! Also, I've just recently started playing the Wingspan app and it really is a fantastic game!! It didn't appeal to me, thematically, at all, but once I gave it a chance I realized the hype is legit. Excellent game!!
One that will never die for me and will probably live forever as a niche game is the 18XX series. It seems once you get into those you play them forever! It's just not everyone's cup of tea.
Haven't played Castles of Burgundy but very interested. I'm waffling daily on buying the special edition but it's a lot of money. Gotta have Azul on my never die list
I'd put Scythe on this list! Love that thing. Everdell doesn't click with my wife, but I have a certain appreciation for it. We do love Castles of Burgundy Deluxe and we'll be playing it forever. I have Root but it's a bit intimidating, although the app is helpful. My only problem with Undaunted is which set to buy?! Thanks for the great content! You guys are rockstars!
@@FostertheMeepleYou are totally right. It's always good to start at the beginning! (Remember the first video on your channel? Wasn't it Jamie and Isle of Cats? Classic!)
Good picks! And I love Castles of Burgundy ❤ A Stefan Feld classic. I bought Fuji Flush some time ago but for some reason I can't convince people to give it a try 🤦🏼♀️
I don't think Villainous or Dominion will ever die in my collection. Although, "never" is a strong word. I'm pretty sure that Silver Bullet once was on this list for you guys, and we all know how that turned out...
