Thanks so much for watching the first episode from my Rhapsody of the Seas series here on RU-vid! If you enjoyed this video, please give it a 'thumbs up' directly underneath the video, and come along for so many more adventures - click 'subscribe'!
Great video Fraser as I said elsewhere, loved that class of ship 15 years ago. Rather than hoping the mass market lines totally refurb these great older ships (they generally only partially refurb them) I wonder if they would commission new 2000 pax ships rather than the current 6000 pax mega beasts?? 😅
Thanks so much, Stephen! I do agree that the smaller ships will be very interesting to watch going from here - there must be a huge portion of loyal cruisers who just don’t enjoy the ‘mega beasts’ as you call them (fantastic name, by the way), haha!
Just stumbled across your channel, thanks for all your informative and helpful reviews. We are booked on our first cruise on the Marella Discovery 2 in May so it was great to see one of the sister ships and what we can expect.
I was on Splendour Of The Seas (which is now Marella Discovery) in Israel, Italy, Greece, Egypt, Oman and Dubai, UAE. Very small and old, but still beautiful and had its place.
Oh, what a great itinerary you got on there! I loved this class of ship - my cabin was never more than about 2 flights of stairs away from where I needed to go!
@@FraserAtSea Yes, It was a repositioning cruise from Venice to Dubai via Israel where I did an overnight Holy Lands tour (with travel expert Sandra Cottam McLemore) and via the Suez Canal. I think the ship you are on there is the same class as Splendour was, although I was lucky enough to have a Grand Suite and a Royal Family Suite which were both on the 9th deck so I mainly took the glass elevator’s instead of the stairs 😂
Have a blessed New Year 🎉 Thank you for sharing all your adventures. Looking forward to 2024. Ship and crew looked wonderful on ur’ voyage. But as of late I’m enamored with the large class ships. Specifically Princess Royal and Sun Class. Late March wife and I aboard the new Sun Princess, sailing around Europe 😀. I hope to up my videography on this one. ☀️
Hey Shawn, thanks so much - same back to you! That Sun Princess looks absolutely stunning - I’ll be keeping an eye to see your adventure on that one. In fact, I wish I could join, but do need SOME land time 😂
I sailed on Rhapsody in late July 2022...it definitely felt older and I could feel the waves more than in any other ship I've been on. But I also like how it's smaller and seemed to have more places to go on deck away from crowds.
Yeah, I completely agree with this - I was actually REALLY surprised at how many quiet deck areas there were on this ship - I felt as though nobody knew about the promenade deck, which made it an easy bet if you wanted fresh air without the crowds of the main pool! Thanks so much for watching!
Happy New Year’s 🎉 Fraser hope 2024 is a wonderful healthy and adventurous year for you and your family from me and mine 😄I look forward to all the new videos to come Sandra 🎉
Hi fraser you need to keep us up to date now you have completed your year of cruising... we were on rhapsody a few years ago, different itinerary though. We did haifa and ashdod on ncl jade last summer which was an amazing experience, looking fwd to part 2 😊
Kathryn, hi! Don’t worry - my episodes will absolutely be continuing to show off all my ships - episode 2 from this series will be going live TONIGHT (6pm U.K. time!). I really enjoyed Haifa - I really hope they rebuild their cruise industry again!
@@FraserAtSea I liked it, the Baha’i temple and gardens were amazing. Only spent 1 night there as I then travelled to tel aviv for 5 days and Jerusalem for 4 before flying home. It was always a dream to go to Israel, such a beautiful country and sad to see what’s happening now.
@@joanneyoung8571 yeah, I was only in Haifa for 1 night, and loved those gardens - just so impressive! I finished this cruise with a couple of nights in Tel Aviv and did fall in love with that city - the beaches were stunning!
All the cruise vloggers I've seen complain about shower curtains. I prefer them as it's much easier for the cabin steward to just change the curtain than spend ages cleaning a glass shower. I think they have enough to do. I've never had a shower curtain cling to me either. Anyway, I'm just happy to be on the ship.
Hey Joan, very good point - I often wonder how long it takes to properly clean a glass screen - they’re a nightmare for me in my own house, ha! I do find it annoying when the ship’s sailing if you’re on an older ship with a smaller space, but the newer ships are generally much better. I also agree about just being happy to be on the ship - always better than land, huh? Thanks so much for watching, and for taking the time to leave a comment!!
Wow! That embarkation was not fun! Wonder why they went about it that way? I would've been stressing out over it. 😮 Your sad little ice cream cone make me laugh.😂 Sometimes smaller ships are better. Thanks for this one and Happy New Year! 🥳
Honestly Tammy, that ice cream… 😂 Thanks so much for watching, and happy new year! I’m glad I had my calorie counter for all of that embarkation walking…!!
Hi there Fraser. You’re still going strong I see. Israel? I take it this was filmed some time ago? December 31st today, so does that mean an end to your year of cruising exploits and vlogs? PS - spent December cruising around the Canaries on the good old ship Azura. Plenty of shuffleboard to be had. Anyway, have a great New Year. 👍🏼
Ade, hello! Lovely to see your name pop up - hope you’re keeping well! I am indeed messaging you from dry land - I’ve got SO many vlogs to go though, so you’re not getting rid of me that easily, haha! Great to hear you were back on Azura - hope you had better competitors than my standard… Ha!
@@FraserAtSea Don’t put yourself down. You were a half decent player considering your lack of experience. I’ve managed 10 cruises this past year or so, but I’ve not been remotely in your league. Have enjoyed watching your vlogs, despite not commenting on all of them. Catch you one day for another shuffleboard comp. 👍🏼
Hi Fraser. I note you uploaded this 6 months ago. The war was raging then. We had our Red Sea cruise cancelled same time because of the troubles there. The Red Sea is significantly further away than Haifa.) How come you managed to go there? (Unless, of course, your cruise was well before and you had the cruise before the troubles then uploaded video months later? I'm puzzled?) Edit You just explained thx.
Hey John! Don’t worry - I wasn’t at risk at all! The cruise was May 2023, but my videos have been delayed as I was at sea for so long - therefore it was uploaded 6 months ago. A really fabulous part of the world to cruise from if you ever get the chance!
