boarding school is like adulting (but without the sadness) 

Honestly, the more time you spend away from your family especially if you grow up with violence or toxic traditions/behaviour, is so good for teens and people in their early 20s. I totally regret not spending more time away from home or even going to school abroad. You just end up being more socially well adapt and happier. You learn to love and appreciate your family more as well whereas when you're sheltered it's the total opposite.

6:10 girl don’t even worry. As a fellow asian girl who’s behind in math too, I feel you 100%. I don’t even have a reason. I was always just slow and lost as a kid which made me repeat 7th grade math which in turn pushed me back an entire math grade. I currently am going into 11th grade and in order to catch up I am taking two math classes next year. (Wish me luck oh my gosh)

I really hope you are doing well as you said your mental heath hasn't been as good recently and I wanted to say that you are a really remarkable person and I'm really inspired by you and everything you've done so far! also, as someone who's also behind in math compared to the 'standard' level for my grade, I also feel insecure, especially when I see other people who are younger than me doing supper advanced stuff. just know that you are not alone and you've got this! make the most of the time you have now because it really matters and I know that so many people belive in you

I've been boarding since I was 8 at two different schools and let me say it's really not that bad. At first, you might feel homesick or sad but you get used to it reasonably quickly and the older you are the less rules and restrictions you get. For instance, you hand in your phones for the first three years of secondary school, and then for the last three you keep all devices (my current school's rules). Also, in my experience you get less roommates the older you are and eventually (at my school) you get your own dorm. You can form great friendships at boarding school with people who you probably wouldn't even be friends with otherwise and honestly I think it's a good life experience. So to anyone who's going into boarding, good luck and hopefully you'll have a good time! Obviously I know boarding isn't for everyone but this is just from my point of view

In my rural boarding school we are in jail: limited food - one tray per 7 person, no water - shower with 1 cup of water / cooking using rain water, disease trap - everyone has some kind of lice on their hair and body, no space - we sleep like a group of fishes in a can. The worst part was the brainwash and sexual assaults by the teachers. But after getting through all of that in 1 year, I can live anywhere with no complain.

honestly, if your parents are sending you to boarding school without you wanting to go, will just create distance between you and your parents, as said there is nothing in this world that doesn’t has disadvantages…your parents can be right at some point if they want you to go they just want you to be independent and strong but it’s not the strategy everyone has, and if you don’t want to go your parents should respect your decision as well! After all it was their choice to give you birth and you are not someone’s mistake

Does the food at your boarding school cost money, or can you just grab it? When you order mail, is it put into a mailbox thing like in apartments or does it actually go straight to your dorm room door? Do you have main subjects that are mandatory like science, math, ela etc? Do you even have gym class in boarding school? Do your parents visit you? How (what is the process) do your parents visit? Can you eat food at anytime? (like go to the area where food is served and there is always food there?) Do students regularly skip class? (in my school, public ( although it's summer break now) kids would all the time and it was basically normal) How often do fights happen? How are fights treated? How do students and teachers view fights? (In my school, especially in the 7th grade there was 3 fights a month ranging to three fights a week) How often do students vape/do drugs? (Kids vape at my school basically regularly but it wasn't really considered normalized, but rather no one really cared. There have been few incidents with actual drug use.)

I remember getting sent to boarding school in Korea back when I was 12/13. Hated it. Spent my whole life growing up in Canada, and was thrown into a whole new culture and society out of nowhere. Sure I can look back and appreciate that those times are the reason I'm very versed in my national culture and have pride in my country, but it really wasn't fun being 12 at a boarding school in a country where bullying was at its peak

i used to be scared of boarding schools since parents from childhood always plants this scary version of it at a young age but i do regret not convincing them to send me there since it could have helped me grow and see things more in a different since a change in an environment leads to a change in the person, it's debatable if its a good one or a bad one. going to boarding school would have helped me be more mature and independent which i struggle now with since my mother spoils me rotten (not in a good way).

Your school is so nice. My boarding school isn’t nearly as nice. We’re not allowed to have our phones and have only one device with lots of restrictions. We get pretty lousy food and it is overall pretty strict. So it all depends on the kind of school you are sent to.
