Thanks! Great review👌👌👌 Have just ordered my Boardman from Halfords, being a shorty have had to go for it in small. Halfords staff told me that there are no more small frame Boardman's in the entire universe. Got home and ordered it on line no problem! Don't believe what the so called experts say!
Thanks for the review, I've just purchased this from Tredz I think for the spec and money it's a good med range Hybrid. I won't be using it everyday nor for long rides but looking at perhaps an upgraded saddle.
I had this bike and I absolutely loved it! With the studded pedals (which looks like it comes with the stock after 2022), you can easily lift the tail to do bunny hops, making it so versatile at getting over bumps while maintaining control and not losing speed. It's a very well balanced bike in my opinion, it's so stable that I've learned how to cycle without hands while standing up on this bike (I can still steer with my hips and make it take pretty sharp turns); some of my friends said the saddle is too narrow and thin for their taste but I've grown used to it and feel very comfortable, and never had any issues with it. I fell in love with this bike as it allowed me to explore a lot of places on the road and off-road, and it's a very comfortable bike to ride (for me). I changed the front tyre to a knobbly mountain bike tyre, and changed the old stock pedals (I think mine was a 2018 model) to a pair of studded pedals, which made the riding experience so much better, as I can then mount large curbs and never lose traction on the front wheel.
Hi, I did buy the Boardman 8.6 Hyb and am more than pleased with it. Having ridden other flat bar bikes, I was apprehensive. This bike however, really wants to move. I live in a hilly area, Mendips, Bristol, Bath. This bike is so good on the hills, that even a mid 70 year old who has not been cycling seriously very long can take on the challenges with more confidence. Thank you so much.
I own an 8.8. If you had gone for the 8.8 it's a massive improvement. Better brakes, a single chainset and carbon forks.. the carbon forks make it lighter and more responsive.
Oh, out of genuine interest, in what ways did you find the brakes of the 8.8 to be better than the 8.6? I've only had an 8.6, and I had no complaints about the brakes (except for the front which occasionally displaces itself when I use the axle too roughly). And how do the gears compare? Is the 8.8 range of gears better? I'm looking to buy an 8.8, so I've done a lot of research on this, but would love to hear your opinion on this.
@@oceannuclear I've not rode a 8.6. The gear ratio is fine and the brakes are fine on the 8m8, if your buying secondhand go for the 8.9 if it's the right price otherwise go for 8.8 . Carbon forks make a big difference !!!
I'm 5ft 9 and decided to go for medium (although was a close call). Are you still finding the medium comfortable? Also, do you know if you can raise the handlebar at all?
@@stuartsneddon8919 Yes the saddle can be moved forward and backwards, but here's a limitation of how far back it can go. I'm not so sure about the handlebars, you might have to take it into Halfords to see if it's possible. I know some bikes have stems that can be raised but I don't know how to spot them.
Third this. My cousin came off his bike a few months ago. No helmet, cracked his skull. Now has to be careful due to the brain injury. Always wear a helmet.
Hi, great vid, what tyre pressure should I use, I have the ladies version, can’t seem to find the recommended tyre pressure on the shwalbe active tyaago [K-Guard 3] thanks
