the ones you marked as demo where variations for the website at the time. the site that had the islands you could fly to and listen to the loops. or the site that has the morphing kaleidoscope stuff, in this video.
It's crazy how obsessive it seems, to be so enthusiastic about this music, and it's mysteries. I know a lot but I also don't know as much as a lot of people. I just just fucking wish we could hear all the music!
Am I the only one who's really loving that version of Amo Bishop Roden at 4:55? I love the more lively, wobbly beat. Makes me want to shimmy. But seriously, it's 4 different kinds of amazing in a way that only Boards of Canada could make it so.
I remember back in the day visiting the site when it just came out. It was to be viewed in the oldskool Shockwave player and for the time it was really something! It made use of kaleidoscopic imagery (as seen in this vid) which could be changed by moving the mouse, simple 3D landscapes which u could float through using the arrow keys and other spacy animations. Unfortunately i can't seem to find or view it anymore though.
They used to use one of these Board of Canada tracks as bumper music leading into commercials on Coast to Coast AM, but I don't know which one it was, because they never mentioned the title of the track. It was around 2003-2005 time period.
I know a fair few oft these are sort of remixes of known boc tracks, but for the other sounds - imagine it is a glimpse into their unreleased catalogue. Gives me hope for more music ONE DAY! One can only hope (sigh)
All sounds are loops from past websites in order of when they were live. Going back to their first website. I wouldn’t say remixes, so much as looped samples. Some from released stuff, some not.
Wo wo wow! Where did you get the first two loops before the "circle" track starts? After those goes one from live show...and clear...omg! The next one looks reversed...don't know from where Then goes loop from Memory House track - right? The other samples till the end seemed to be familiar ) The last thing you may add - is the track samples, and then you could have full BoC web collection ) Nice video btw )
@TRaddcliff he wrote "Second loop at 00:10 sampled by Air - Alone in Kioto". His question was: "Have Air sampled the second loop at 00:10 for their song Alone in Kioto". You responded as if he claimed that 00:10 was AIR, not BoC.
So these loops aren't taken from actual songs? If they have any names could you maybe list them? Or maybe I'll just do it myself. I never get tired researching on Boards of Canada and discovering their older work :)
Trying to find that 2004 era site when there were different speakers on glaciers and you could listen to different instruments from Geogaddi. I believe it was a flash site so maybe gone forever but worth a try.
I hope in the distant future when other forms of life land on our dead planet that this is the only salvageable record of the music we made and the aliens trip fucking balls over it.
If you still never found them you can get them all at Archive.Org. Search "Archive.org Hexamerous" in Google, it should be the 1st result that comes up.
Haha Actually I'm Hexamerous! I finally found them, some on web.archive and some on soulseek (took months to find a guy with the old flash files!). I'm still looking for the very old realaudio files of Circle, Duffy and Wouldnt you like to be free
Haha its a small small world! Crazy that you're the same guy. What happened, did you make the site/page way back in the day and ended up forgetting you even made it? Good to hear you got those tracks anyway. Yea I'd LOVE to hear some of the tracks from the "elusive" albums like Catalogue 3, Closes 1-2, Hooper Bay and the likes. A lot of my fave BOC tunes are on the unoficially released stuff like Old Tunes Vol1-2, Random 35 Track Tape and BoC Maxima (the 1st thing I heard from them). I hope they're working on something new! Or maybe a release of those unreleased tracks, assuming its possibe (hopefully the DAT tapes weren't lost!)
so interesting...i did not okay advertisements for my video. RU-vid has taken it on themselves to do that. i thought it was a choice to have ads run or not.
+TRaddcliff It's because their automatic copyright detection system recognized this as containing Kid For Today. Some companies will opt to have videos with their material deleted, others will just put ads on your video and profit from it since you're using their copyrighted material. So either Warp or Music70 put the ad on there.
+TRaddcliff +TRaddcliff Yes, but if you look at the info section for your vid, under music they list Kid For Today. The music is the same as the intro to that track, which warp or music70 must have added to youtube's copyright catalog, which is why they were able to match it. That's why you've got the ads. Just FYI!
i understand....interesting the audio identification software picked that one out when there are clearer versions of tracks from other albums present in the vid.
