After we toured Boardwalk Cottage in the Spring it was highly requested that we show her off in full Summer glory. Be sure to leave a comment down below to tell us what you think we should add next to the Columnar Beech!

Lovely tour and and a stunningly beautiful home. I imagined coffee in the morning on that deck, sunning in the afternoon on that deck, and drinking a glass of wine in the evening on that deck and realized I could just live on that deck. Priceless memories I'm sure of time spent there growing up. I think you need a tree or bush with a different texture and darker foliage than the fronting hydrangeas. Maybe a black lace elderberry or a Japanese Lace maple? Cheers

A purple smoke bush would be a nice pop of color amongst all the green. I enjoy all the beautiful things you show us, but I'd love it if you show us maintenance (not always the most fun) as well. Inevitably, we all have to do it.

What an incredibly special heritage you have! Thank you for sharing! Found your videos a few days ago & just keep watching as it's such a special place to me. I grew up in Michigan, visiting Mackinac Island, & always admired your grandmother's home with the beautiful cedar shake siding (right next to library I think)! So special to get to see the front of this beautiful house! Years ago I also worked at Mission Point Resort in Convention Services. When I come home from Colorado in the summer we visit & stay on the island. Fun now to know who makes these beautiful gardens a reality! All the best in the 2021 season!

Wow! I'm so glad you returned to show us your grandmother's lake house in the summer when everything has filled in. It is stunning! I hope to walk by when Proven Winners renews its Grand Garden Show in 2021. Would love to meet your grandma in the next video. I think a limelight hydrangea or quick fire hydrangea would do well next to the house when you clean out that tree in the front. Either one would lighten up that area and the blooms would be a nice contrast against the house.

Grandmas' garden must be why you became a landscaper, growing up in that garden had to of been magical, it's just so incredible Wonderful. Hi Jack, I really love your videos. I learn so much. :-) I think my vote is for some type of water feature also. That would look so Charming tucked away in there under that beech tree. I have a question for you. I am looking for something different to plant on the east corner of my house. I have several hydrangeas and a Japanese maple on the east side and I'm looking for something different. The space I have would be up to 4 foot wide and could go as high as 4 foot tall maybe five. I have seen several different plants you have showcased and thought I would ask your advice. Thanks!

I would like to see some red leaf Japanese maples also, and maybe some ferns. I didn't see any Fern from the property, and there's a lot of different variety of change times which I think would be more than perfect. Also you mentioned your grandma is a senior, I really didn't see very many teak benches out in the garden, my garden is never complete until you've got seating to take him all the different views of the Horticulture and Mother Nature. Also in that area I think a large bird bath to be appropriate, something concreted into a base Foundation so it could withstand the storms.

Thank you, Jack for that beautiful summer tour. I've seen many of your tours with Laura from Garden Answer, that's how I came here. I remember your May tour and thinking that I can't wait to see the garden in its summer bloom. Thanks for showing the May photos alongside. Interesting that the water has so quickly come up to the edge of the garden. Your face lights up when you talk about your granny, and especially when you recount the story of her lining up to wait to enter her own home so that wedding couples can take photos outside the climbing hydrangea. Just magical. Would love to see a tour inside her house. Thanks again.

Wonderful to see a seasonal update on your granny's cottage! Seems like an absolute privilege to get to pass down the legacy of working on a loved one's private garden space. I agree with the idea that a red or purple foliage would pop there. I also think ferny textured leaves with dark stems would look good, or possibly an old fashioned climbing rose that could tolerate shade. Thanks for the peek into Granny's beautiful space!
