I remember the actor who plays Cantor talking about doing this scene. He said it was a very hard scene to do because the Michael K. Williams and the other guy "are just the nicest guys in real life." They were trying so hard to be intimidating and he was trying so hard to look scared and inevitably, one of them would start laughing and it would set them all off!!
Are you know what to me when I first saw this I thought it was very funny as well only too funny and you have to know he's a Michael or the guy who was doing the host routine you know they was going to bust out and start laughing.. only when I did my own research about the guy who was doing the singing routine that's when I began to actually know how serious it was supposed to be supposed to
Lol right. My favorite part is when the guy starts explaining why he can't and Chalky cuts him off and asks if there's anywhere he'd like em to sit. Lol
Chalky was not Gyp Rosetti. In fact, Eddie could have been killed by Gyp for interrupting Gyp mid-sentence, but Gyp got distracted by something else so Eddie never learned how close he came to a brutal death.
Start with a dark navy colored, length just above the knees. I got one and it makes me feel I live in a different era. Also people call you "mister" A learned a lot for a men style from the channels: Real Men real style and Gentlemen's Gazette
Yea it was a nice wave that season they were working together. They went a little too hard on Dunn after he killed that talent manager..started treating him like a stooge. Then again, he was always mad jealous of Chalky..probably wasn’t meant to be.
A really great actor that needs to be getting more big Hollywood roles. He’s paid some righteous dues playing some really great roles. He deserves more than “Hap & Leonard” on Netflix, an admittedly good show. Although who knows. Netflix may be paying the biggest bucks in the business these days.
This is one of those brilliant scenes before the complications of telling a compelling story get in the way of two characters that work great as allies…Chalky and Dunn were great together, the way they circle around the prey like two sharks is terrifying and hilarious at the same time
+ISureDoLikeCats actually he's correct, whether the mafia or street gangs, research has shown rather consistently that such groups accomplish more through the threat of violence than the actual usage of violence...or as it is more commonly referred....INTIMIDATION TACTICS....
buddhafyre I think it's a fantastic scene with solid performances however I do not believe it can be called a "hidden message". In fact I am not entirely sure that it can even be called a *message* at all It is just "what is happening in the scene". I feel to point out something that is so patently obvious in the comment section of a RU-vid is, at the very best, redundant and is insulting to our intelligence at the worst. In conclusion I think the faux-analysis, with it's grandiose language and the "Beating around the bush" structure usually used by students who need to pad out a poorly planed essay, came across as pretentious. I think the well loved Shakespearean poet and playwright "William Shakespeare" said it best when he said that "Brevity is the soul of wit". It is because of this quotation, that Mr.W.Shakespeare said, I believe it is best to just make a point in as few choice words as possible as that demonstrates a true mastery of the English language especially because that is why I believe the comment was made. To sum up; I don't believe this comment was left in an attempt to share an astute observation about an otherwise esoteric extract of contemporary film art, I believe it was left in and attempt to show of. In short; The showing of is, in it's self, not much of a problem in-fact almost all of humanities greatest achievements where made in an attempt to show of: Tutankhamun built the Sphinx in order to make is dick look big as well as to make every forget about his gammy leg, Van Gogh cut his ear of to appear all nonchalant and cool for some girl or whatever and I kill squirrels with a hammer to assert my authority to dinner guests. So basically the showing of is not what i have a problem with...It is the cack-handedness of the attempt. The comment is rife with grammatical and spelling errors...But it's late and I've been typing this comment for hours so maybe i should sum this up. So essentially what I'm trying to say is; If you've got a point to make...Just hurry up and make it...It's not cool to ramble on and on, using fancy words in an attempt to impress strangers on the internet, Unless you're satirising the very concept of "rambling on and on" and "using fancy words in an attempt to impress strangers on the internet" in order to make a point like I am right now...Then it's funny and sexy and clever and you look really cool in front of everyone. So in conclusion...*Ure dumb.* Lot's of loves and hugs- ISureDoLikeCats xoxox
@@FOXSUSENKO He means in contrast to today. Grown men walking around in wife beaters with their pants hanging off their ass. Even the black gangsters here were respectable.
FOXO you ain’t smart buck, back then there was no such thing as just buying clothes off the rack, everyone was dressed dapper as fuck (even poor people) because you had to get all your clothes made to fit. Pretty much everything you owned was tailored, but you only had a few outfits if you were poor. So actually, yes, it was historically accurate from a “tv show made in 2012.”
No I don't think so, some people just have that habbit of putting their hands in front their mouth when they watch something, like a movie or paint. I do it all the time.
"Ain't a Cabby" This shows how fickle and spoiled Nucky is. Eddie Cantor had a contract to perform with another show. A man's word is his word and now he has to ruin his reputation because your skeezer is depressed about her current musical.
One of my favorite scenes. Making a white male who's social status as a white male was so assumed w/o a thought got corrected about where he stood in comparison to black gangsters.... The irony of the scene is he unassumingly thought they were cab drivers, but ended up having to shuck and jive for 2 black men... lol
Ummm if that was the intention of this scene... But I'm going for a stretch here and sayyyyyy you're a Marxist arent you? It's ok if you are... there's treatments for that amico 😎🔥
Boardwalk Empire is such a great series! Its not allot of action, but its scenes like this that makes this one of the best series today! In my opinion...this and The Sopranos are one of the BEST series around!
Solid acting at the end…the short breathes he takes in between the singing is because the airway is constricting due to the panic / adrenaline setting in… …but he’s also hilariously a performer; so he’s also making sure what he sings is still clear (and it actually is!). The defeated flop at the end when he can’t continue was solid gold. Behind the scenes, those pauses might actually have been the actor trying not to laugh…if so, that’s a nice way to twist the appearance.
