In the swirling white chaos of Winter’s storms,
When pale shadows ride the black winds,
Their moaning voices a token of longing and loneliness,
Into the maw of underbrush and withered bramble go!
For it is now the time to wrest with the white wights,
To subdue them to your will, to bend their minds,
To forge their energies into a matrix of the pathway.
The cauldron has been set:
“Valerian and fat of pig, Chamomile flowers fresh from twig.
Skullcap herb and lemon balm, Cinquefoil leaves, all wild and warm.
Everything with beeswax bound - In wildest frenzy - round and round!
From above to below - From left to right - I stand whole and contained!”
In the pandemonium of the nightly woods
Now do claim one of the harrowing souls!
Bend it! Bind it! Your will shall be upon it!
“Strange and longing powers, intoxicate me!
Hold thou I shall, and transformed thou shalt be!
I shall craft thy force into a bridge!”
A portal has appeared among the rowan trees.
It is across this bridge I now take flight.
Over Winter’s hedge, and into the darkest night!
