I agree as long as your engine is in neutral then there is no concern of it getting wrapped in the prop etc.

Agree always the engine before pulling make sure it's on neutral start pulling

Never pull anchor before starting your engine.

How do you set the anchor if the engine is off?. You should be backing down to lay the anchor rode on the bottom. Anchor rode should be taken to the far side of the cleat from the load, not the near side as you show. Engine should be running before you raise the anchor so the vessel is under control.

When I drop anchor, I back up on it to set it, then 5x the depth done and done

Out of curiosity why would you not start the engine before retrieving the anchor? Surely this way is safer rather than your boat floating around the place (e.g engine fails to start etc)

Thanks for asking and stopping by here... certainly good practice to test engine before pulling your anchor, although most current model motors are rather reliable, and may suggest driving boat toward anchor to make retrieval easier. However, when making very basic instruction videos we seek simple instructions to avoid folks running over and fouling propeller with anchor tackle😊

Can you please broadcast this to the fishermen floating in the middle of the breakwater gap blocking all traffic from safely using the north gap in Milwaukee. I hate throwing wake at fishermen, kayakers, paddle boats, etc. almost as much as I hate grounding my boat on the breakwater rocks. Please, for the love of god, get out of the gap. 🤨
