I’m super stoked and very much looking forward to seeing your upcoming episode on Crazy Love!!! Sean & Jamie seem like a very nice, down to earth couple, and their new boat is absolutely stunning!! But I’m definitely interested to hear y’all’s perspectives along with a professional Wynn boat tour!! 👍
HH is smart to let you guys to document this process. Even thought it is a bit stressful, it shows how the company is very willing to work with the customers to give them their dream boat. Nice job guys..
Very impressed with HH with this build so far and honestly I feel like it has come together rather quickly compared to some other boat manufacturers. I’m #TeamJason and Nikki you will be thankful for the dishwasher as well!! Can’t wait to see her finished and crossing oceans!! Enjoy 🍻
Yeah, Jason getting the dishwasher! I can’t wait to see what he does with all that extra time he gets back now that he won’t have to wash the dishes! The boat is looking good, and I can’t wait to see you guys living on it and sailing!
I will give you more than 5 cents for that dishwasher! 😊 Having custom built a home with 2 kids under 4 and living out of a monthly rental because our previous home had sold, I know at least part of your stress. It felt that it changed my personality (but not for the worse). Hang in there! Your in the final stretch! ❤❤
When is the dishwasher install video? Does HH get progressively faster at hull production between boats? Is your hull the benefit of any lessesons learned from 1 and 2? Where do i send my 5¢?
We have two of those same Vitrifrigo units on our cat, and they have been a nightmare! They don’t defrost properly, particularly in hot, humid climates, freezing up the fans eventually. They’ve ruined a lot of our frozen food over the past year, and Vitrifrigo doesn’t seem to care. We know of at least 8 other owners with the same problems. Our only solution is manually defrosting with a hair dryer every 3-4 days.
It's a shame that many manufacturers don't feel test their products enough and find quick solutions to inevitable problems that arise. Thank you for your input perhaps they can put in an adjustment order for a different brand.
Isn't it amazing to think back to your decision to get that first RV - to explore; to learn SO many new things - and boom you are in China getting a brand new catamaran built. Time is amazing in how it can be never-ending, or a whirlwind, or a blink. Thanks for sharing your journey and your experience. I appreciate it so much.
Decision fatigue is real. Rest and recovery is important to your overall health. Glad to know that you are taking it seriously and giving yourselves the gift of therapy and good health. Thanks for another good video. I'm learning so much from you!
50% for Team Jason and his dishwasher and 50% for the R-290 spec fridge/freezer! The world is a better place for innovations like that - and we should ALL look to making similar decisions on everything we buy
Love the 70's look of Nikki in this video! Just think, a few years ago, you guys were just starting your journey with sailing and knew nothing! Thanks for taking us along with you. You make us DFW residents proud!
Thanks! I really enjoy your content, you guys make a great team Here is a thank you for Team Jason and his dishwasher or anything else you want to spend it on. All the best for the last mile of your boat project.
We have the sunscreens on our boat, wouldn’t have it any other way. Easy to see through, even at night and cuts a lot of sun light. We don’t have the suction cups, but have snaps. The snaps have never been a problem, I would think the suction cups would not hold up to a hard blow. We keep ours up all the time.
Mad respect for you guys to be organized enough to live out of a suitcase. I have a small amount of experience doing this and it was exhausting. At least I got to go home for 8 or 9 days a month. Could not imagine not having that home base. Love you guys!!!!!
I hear you. How about bobby on doodles. It's insane. He switches entire boats regularly, Is settling between islands and different countries, organizing Flotillas. Oh and the best part, bringing on new crew.
Still undecided on the dishwasher? Here's my donation to #teamjason. The anticipation waiting for this build is nuts. I can't imagine how intense it is for you guys.
Jason needs the dishwasher! Thank you all for sharing your adventures. I've been watching since your RV days and that was my launching point to buy a Class A. I don't think I'll make the transition to sailing but really have learned a ton from solar, batteries and just enjoyed the adventure. Can't wait to see the HH finished and on the water!
Nikki, Jason, while I somewhat enjoy your on land sight seeing videos. However, I must be honest, RU-vid is full of travel videos. I really enjoy watching the boat being built and all the options being discussed etc. I still never miss an episode I tend to to hit like button more often for vids like this. Love the channel.
It’s a beautiful boat. We’re all looking forward to seeing C2 out on the water. I’d be afraid that the suction cups on the window shades wouldn't hold in any kind of wind.
Love my Sunday morning Wynn! Unfortunately it was Monday afternoon….but had to drive from Oklahoma back to Chicago so missed it. She LOOKS beautiful! Give the man a dishwasher - if there is space, do it. And if you already have the dishwasher covered, then hope this goes for some other cool gear you’ll tell us about. My wife, kids and I look forward to next week!
Donation to the “Save Jason’s delegate hands” fund. Love the videos, love seeing the boat being built. Love seeing the adventure you are going on. Keep up the great content!
I'm not a fan of the suction cups. They tend to fail you at the worst times. They can slide sideways if wet, and they'll be wet all the time on a boat. They leave behind an ugly mess too. I don't know if the magnets will work any better if the wind manages to get behind the screen.. I would look at white shade/covers too. They'll reflect more heat but might be harder to see through. Speaking of reflecting heat. I don't know if you're aware but they make window films for cars etc, that reflect almost all heat. If damaged you can easily replace.
Thanks for another great video! I love the behind the scenes look at your new boat being built. Can't wait to see you all out on the water in it soon! Here's a small donation for the dishwasher, too!
I was actually expecting built in magnets too. But sometime less is more…. If these suction cups can be easily swapped out or replaced when they get “tired” that might be the best long-term use for this application.
Suction cups - boo. What about something like Command hooks? Peel/stick, no holes, easy to replace, definitely a more reliable grip than suction cups that fail from weather, age, surface irregularities or just plain obstinance.
HUGE fans here love your work. But please pass this into the factory management (I’ve worked in aircraft and car manufacturing factories for 35 years) the lack of PPE is appalling and very worrying! No proper masks, hard hats, ear protection - anything - so worrying for the crew working there! Please please wear proper footwear too - no flip flops on a factory floor ever!! We don’t want you to get hurt!!
I am confident that you will find the money spent for the 'exterior' sun shades to be the BEST money you spent on this boat (except maybe for the dishwasher...Jason). These shades will reduce the heat transfer through the windows by approximately 40-60%. Your A/C system will work so much more efficiently during the daytime which will improve your battery/electric usage for the night-time. Everything is really looking good and I'm sure you are excited to get the boat wet.
The transparency in which HH operates and shares so much with you is impressive, inspiring and so helpful! Thank you so much for sharing a day in your life with us. Whewww... Sending you both lots of love, peace and strength as you get ever so much closer to finally having your new home! We are very excited for you, right along with you 🙂
It is very evident you both are on top of this build without interfering in the process. The meticulous work was gratifying to see. HH is getting good press and deserved. The dishwasher, yes. We men are with you Jason. Get it done. 👌👍😀⛵️🏝️
A couple of things first and second putting the transparency is great, especially the fact they block the heat from the sun before it ever gets into the cabin. I would have them sew into each cover a hook that would allow you to tie them off in case of sudden storm.
If you do shades with suction cups, get a lot of extras. They will fail, especially in the environments this boat will be in. I’d suggest something like Magneshades in an RV. Magnets get attach to the inside of window and shades attach on outside of window. Metal is sewn into shade to connect to magnets inside the window. They make a big difference on heat.
Yes, Ditto on the magnets for the sunscreen. A company here makes RV sunscreens, Magneshade… so earth magnets are placed inside the windows and hold very well but the screen will peel, off in 40 mph winds.
top entry corner dishwasher will be a pain for a right handed person and for cleaning. For shade get a light filtering solution you can static cling to the interior window or if you have the budget a dual pull down shade, one totals shade and the alternative light filtering type. I like the shades on a track you can adjust from the bottom or from the top,
I LOVE the black blind that goes around the windows. As a migraine & allergy sufferer, controlling my home environment is really important. I have a black pollen screen, very similar to the black blind your boat is getting, that I hang inside my windows to keep pollen out when I have them open. This screen reduces the heat coming into my home when in direct sunlight by 20ºF/10ºC. I think that if you get used to putting up the screen on hot days when at anchor, you'll find the inside stays much cooler. If so, would be great if you demonstrated that on video.
Sorry those suction will not hold up! Between salt and dirt they will not hold, plus UV will be a problem. I have used suction cups in the stained glass industry .... In a perfect world maybe! Love your videos
Looking at those suction cups on the shade I know they won’t last very long because they will dry and crack but you could look into getting some of those mechanical heavy duty suction cups that work with the lever or pump and they make so many different options of these some of these even come with hooks. I’m sure you could find something that would work better than those little suction cups they already are using. You could do this, even as an upgrade yourself on the shade after your suction cups start to fail.
Go with the dishwasher while it's still being built as well as the shade cover on the outside. I'd also cut the shade cover in sections in case you don't want to use all of it.(looks like one big cover, I might be wrong though.) Makes it easier to put on as well
It looks like the boat is coming along nicely. Even though it looks like chaos right now I'm sure it will be amazing when it's done. As for the wiring hopefully they will label those wires so you will know what is what when you have to deal with them while you own the boat. Keep the good stuff coming guys. Fair winds and following seas.
One advantage of being hull #3 is the factory has had a chance to work out all the production kinks on the first two hulls. It's a very impressive boat. It's like an ocean going space ship. There seems to be as much wiring and electronics as in it as the Space Shuttle. Hope she turns out to be everything you wanted for your next boat. The next couple of months are going to be a whirlwind. Good Luck!
Aww! Nomads for over a year. I’m sure you guys are more than ready to have a permanent toothbrush holder again😉. Super excited for the day we can start sailing with you again….With a dishwasher off cause😊
As a Realtor (and speaking from a real estate perspective), you are building your "dream home" a "$1M+ home" and you should be watching every detail. And that is how the factory is looking at it; just like a general contractor would look at it. Everyone's reputation is on show. The details are what make your new home a special one and I am happy that the factory is stressing them as much (or more than) you are. #3 is such a wonderful number!
R 290 is basically propane gas. So it's flammable. Fortunately there should not be more in the system than 0.5-1 kg. Actually there are more of refrigerant that is "environmentally friendly" to the same extent that propane is.
We have one of those shades on our motor home and we love them. Works great to filter out the sun and heat…and yes you can see through them. 😁 (of course we’re not dealing with salt water or wind so that’s a factor for you guys…)
I made sunseeker boats for 12 years , there’s a hell off a lot off work that goes into each boat, I don’t miss the backbreaking sanding that each part needs
In addition to going over what options you chose, it would be great to hear about the options you didn't choose and why. I'm working on the options list for my build now and its so hard. Most are not cheap, but will i regret not getting them. Thanks!
Really great to meet you guys in Cannes today! Love your channel and delighted you are every bit as nice in person as you are on the screen. Good luck with the new boat - we look forward to watching those videos! (Jeff & Tania the Aussie couple)
I don't think I could ever argue with Nikki, BUT, a dishwasher can free you up to enjoy other things and do boat-y stuff. AND, modern dishwashers can use less water per load of dishes compared to hand washing in many cases.
Great call on r-290 fridge. Way more efficient and easier to find refrigerant if needed (it’s just a non smelly version of propane- side side note: grill can propane can be used in a pinch without damage)
Nikki and Jason, Of course you're overwhelmed, this is a big, BIG deal! As we saw with the first couple of days onboard Ruby Rose 2, you will also have a lot to deal with once you take delivery of the boat. That will be another couple of months (at least) of chaos - but then things will be far easier and less stressful. As to the amount of work, Nick showed us the effort that goes into the stainless steel on RR2 - just one aspect of the build - and that was insane. And watching Matt & Jessica building their boat is eye opening, it's almost nauseating how much time it takes to finish the fairing - JUST the fairing. You guys will have one of the best designed and built boats available on the market, so it will all be worth it in the end!
R290 refrigerate is highly flammable and not what I would recommend on a boat. Make sure to install propane sensors on your boat. A leak may turn into a big problem.
I was surprised as well. The quantity is likely so small the risk is mostly mitigated, but still I'm surprised it's being pushed for marine applications. I suspect the may move to R-744, which is carbon dioxide in the future. It runs at higher pressure, but is non-flammable while also being environmentally friendly.
Hey guys for your shading solution how about electrochromic film ??? Instant shading at the press of a button while using a very minimal amount of power. What do you guys think???
Looks very stressful and overwhelming... Hold on! Yesterday we were on the HH 44 hull No 1 in The Cannes Yachting Festival - it looks beautiful! We were told that yours will be same color scheme and it's WOW! Wishing you patience and stay healthy 🤗🙏
