Great info , looking foward to this autum and seeing how you get on but .I went to Cork a good few times sea fishing when i was a lad loved the place will be back one day .
Thanks Richard, glad you got some useful info from the video. I’ve not done much searching fishing at all but I think I’ll definitely be giving it a go soon.
Just a tip lads , when dropping deadbaits with free offerings out into DEEP water, make sure your bail arm is open or the free offerings will fall straight down whilst yer deadbait will swing in an arc and land away from the freebies... spodders and feeder lads will already know this well... I LOVE me Actor !! 😎👍☘️🍺
Hi Peter, yeah as far as I know the deeper arm works with all of their various models. The arm itself comes with the Velcro pads and the lanyard for tethering.
Glad you enjoyed it. Yeah when i first got the arm and seen the velcro i wasn't impressed but it is actually very strong which surprised me. but there is no way she's going out without a line on it.
Hi Steve just watched your review and was very informative I’ve bought one at the start of pike season and used it every time I’ve went out fishing and it’s got me into spots I would normally not be able to cast to weather it’s distance of under trees it’s changed my game and now I’m looking to get the deeper now 😂 so I’m hoping Santa brings it for me 😉only 2 negative comments I have on the boat is the cap which has the power switch on it is not secure in my opinion I’m looking at ways to try and secure it more and the other thing is when I drop a bait out and bringing the boat back it pulls to side and have to counter steer it 😊 Thanks again for the review I’ve liked and shared 👍🏻
Yeah I have the issue with the cap and the switch being inside. There is a slightly more expensive boat that has the button external on it which I probably should have gone for.
@@FishingwithSteveIreland it’s not so much that the switch is inside more the cap is not to secure I’m gona try make an insulated seal that keeps the cap on if I have success I’ll let you know Do you think the deeper is worth buying and how muck did you pay for the deeper and it’s holder?
I paid €260 for the Deeper and €41 for the arm. I’ve the Pro+2 you can get a cheaper one but if it doesn’t have the + on it, it won’t have GPS. There’s also the chirp+2 which is more expensive. But I think it’s well worth the investment.
I think the reason for it pulling to the side on retrieving is that the wind catches the open door on the back hopper... and/or if its choppy, the waves can push against the door pushing it off course so there no real fix for that... I don't think the big cap is dodgey unless its actually a loose fit which mine isn't... if yours is actually loose you could try painting on some 2-part epoxy and letting it set, then sand it if necessary to get the fit you want. A BIG issue I had with my boat was the trebles sometimes catching on the lip at the bottom of the main hopper which made the deadbait hang up and not release... I solved that by blending the lip away with bondo car body filler, letting it set, sanding and then painting it with black nail varnish... (the girl in the chemists gave this 65y.o. lad a funny look 😳😂) I'm thinking of equipping mine with a Chirp too at some stage but that ends up being a lotta money floating around out there if you lose contact ... 😭 The latest Chirp is super-spendy so I'm watchin Fishdeal for a sale...😣🤞 What the baitboat DOES do is allow you to VERY lightly hook deadbaits so they drop away on striking a fish, this will up your runs/landed ratio dramatically... dropping a lightly hooked soft smelt out a 100yds is childs play now... A bigger version to put all the FNs in and send 'em back home (or sink half way) is what we really need now... 😂 All in all, the Actor has been a great addition to my angling arsenal, my nephew Jay bought it for me, thanks Jay !! 😎👍 Tight lines lads !! 😎👍☘️🍺
I have bought myself the same boat this summer and only used it a couple times. This being my first bait boat there was a bit of a learning curve to properly control it and all, but once I figured it out it was working very well. Just stay away from very weedy areas as I have almost got my boat stuck in the middle of the lake 😂 Looking forward to use it much more next year!
Great review Steve, definitely a good purchase, I think if I get big into deadbaiting I will get myself that set up for the likes of derg and ree. Iv seen some massive pike from shore while out shooting over the years.
Just after ordering 1 and i have the deeper wil be only using it for pike looking forward to pike season later on and bk to sum of my favourite lakes opens up so much more possibilities.
Yeah it help me land so many more fish, just by being able to get out to the deeper drop offs with the bait. On some pike sessions I wouldn’t even cast the rod. Just use the boat to drop it.
I Just unclipped it, pass the end that goes over your neck under the handle and then passed the clip end back through in itself, creating a loop then clipped it back onto the deeper.
It does a little but I haven’t really timed how long. I never really let them get that low that they need a full charge so I’m not sure what the charging time is from fully drained. But they are a great bit of kit for the money and if you’re going for a deeper make sure is a + version of which ever one you go for. The + means that there is gps on the mapping system so whether it’s the pro2 or chirp I’d recommend the + versions.
Hi david, I got it when i bought the boat in anglers world. They had these care packs i got with the boat that included the splitter, stickers and a boatman cloth to wipe the boat. If you contact the supplier they might be able to steer you in the right direction.
Don’t think this boat would have the power to be honest. Also there are metal catches on the hoppers that may be affected by salt water. I’ve only ever used it in fresh water lakes. I know boatman do have an orange boat specifically designed for sea called the surfer Pro and it’s priced around €1500.
I have used it on Whitewood which is an 80+acre lake. Had it out in good conditions and heavy wind. Only went out about 150m didn’t need to go further than that. Don’t think I’d push it more than that. But yeah if I was fishing massive loughs regular I’d be buying a bigger, more powerful boat.
