Here's Bobby singing his apocalyptic epic, "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall." This was recorded at "The Bear," a folk club in Chicago, in late April, 1963. I also have the historical debut performance of "Hard Rain," which I will be uploading soon. Enjoy this gem while you can!

The greatest song ever written, in my opinion. I’m not saying it is the best song of all time, but to me, lyrically, there has never been a better song ever.

Awesome. Either before or after the Bear show Dylan sat with Studs Terkel in front of radio microphones for Studs' daily hour-long program called the "Wax Museum," Asked a question about his writing, Dylan says, "I don't really go into myself that deep." Studs introduced his Dylan by calling him "a young folk poet who you might say looks like Huckleberry Finn, if he lived in the 20th century." Dylan tells Studs that "A Hard Rain's a Gonna Fall" is not about atomic fallout, even though he wrote the song during the Cuban missile crisis: "No, it's not atomic rain. It's just a hard rain. It isn't the fallout rain. I mean some sort of end that's just gotta happen. ... In the last verse, when I say, 'the pellets of poison are flooding their waters,' that means all the lies that people get told on their radios and in their newspapers."

I support the vietnam war. we could have removed communism from all of Asia. It was a noble cause. know many still believe that and are willing to use our advances to try again. You wont be forgotten.

This song has a weariness to it....a sadness at the things that he has seen. A young man telling his young son about the travails of the world and how sad it makes him feel. .

who is telling who? each verse starts with "what did you see...my son, what did you see my darling young one?" He is then telling the father retroactively what he saw. It is a prophecy of the future.
@tabs9213
@tabs9213 8 месяцев назад
@@ramsaygray5421 The song is about the things Dylan has seen in the world and what he is going to do before a hard rain is going to fall. So the opening verse is that Dylans father is asking him what he has seen and what he is going to do. Or Dylan is asking his son about the innocent view of the world that a child would have before telling him about the the adult travails of the world.

Oh, where have you been, my blue-eyed son? Oh, where have you been, my darling young one? I’ve stumbled on the side of twelve misty mountains I’ve walked and I’ve crawled on six crooked highways I’ve stepped in the middle of seven sad forests I’ve been out in front of a dozen dead oceans I’ve been ten thousand miles in the mouth of a graveyard And it’s a hard, and it’s a hard, it’s a hard, and it’s a hard And it’s a hard rain’s a-gonna fall Oh, what did you see, my blue-eyed son? Oh, what did you see, my darling young one? I saw a newborn baby with wild wolves all around it I saw a highway of diamonds with nobody on it I saw a black branch with blood that kept drippin’ I saw a room full of men with their hammers a-bleedin’ I saw a white ladder all covered with water I saw ten thousand talkers whose tongues were all broken I saw guns and sharp swords in the hands of young children And it’s a hard, and it’s a hard, it’s a hard, it’s a hard And it’s a hard rain’s a-gonna fall And what did you hear, my blue-eyed son? And what did you hear, my darling young one? I heard the sound of a thunder, it roared out a warnin’ Heard the roar of a wave that could drown the whole world Heard one hundred drummers whose hands were a-blazin’ Heard ten thousand whisperin’ and nobody listenin’ Heard one person starve, I heard many people laughin’ Heard the song of a poet who died in the gutter Heard the sound of a clown who cried in the alley And it’s a hard, and it’s a hard, it’s a hard, it’s a hard And it’s a hard rain’s a-gonna fall Oh, who did you meet, my blue-eyed son? Who did you meet, my darling young one? I met a young child beside a dead pony I met a white man who walked a black dog I met a young woman whose body was burning I met a young girl, she gave me a rainbow I met one man who was wounded in love I met another man who was wounded with hatred And it’s a hard, it’s a hard, it’s a hard, it’s a hard It’s a hard rain’s a-gonna fall Oh, what’ll you do now, my blue-eyed son? Oh, what’ll you do now, my darling young one? I’m a-goin’ back out fore the rain starts a-fallin’ I’ll walk to the depths of the deepest black forest Where the people are many and their hands are all empty Where the pellets of poison are flooding their waters Where the home in the valley meets the damp dirty prison Where the executioner’s face is always well hidden Where hunger is ugly, where souls are forgotten Where black is the color, where none is the number And I’ll tell it and think it and speak it and breathe it And reflect it from the mountain so all souls can see it Then I’ll stand on the ocean until I start sinkin’ But I’ll know my song well before I start singin’ And it’s a hard, it’s a hard, it’s a hard, it’s a hard It’s a hard rain’s a-gonna fall Una dura lluvia va a caer Oh,¿dónde has estado,mi querido hijo de ojos azules? ¿dónde has estado, mi joven querido? He tropezado con la ladera de doce brumosas montañas, he andado y me he arrastrado en seis autopistas curvadas, he andado en medio de siete bosques sombríos, he estado delante de una docena de océanos muertos, me he adentrado diez mil millas en la boca de un cementerio, y es dura, es dura, es dura, es muy dura, es muy dura la lluvia que va a caer. ¿Y a quién encontraste, mi joven querido?

I don’t make any of my life stories up either. There are hustlers, huckster, robbers, killers, but the truth eludes many. I know what I talk about and what is happening. Very disgusting. If one really, really wants to solve real problems, stop with the finger pointing and accusing with baseless histories. It’s hard to be one with a fair and less biased teller of history. Broad field studies is getting close. History which isn’t just what’s official in books, getting closer. But, America isn’t just that. There is much more including our world views historically. Trying to assemble this in an intelligent format remains a challenge.

True, a real problem with truth is few really know nothing. Basing one’s life upon mortal humans isn’t much to nothing! I’m from a way different breed than you! So, unless, you are willing to admit that humans are no pathway, little will change. So, who is the real God? Perhaps, that’s Jesus. But not as you have portrayed him. It’s way better to teach people to provide for themselves than dole your generosity.

Well, for your fundraisers for a cleaner future. America has the highest levels of compliance of any combined. Sorry! What America needs to do first is stop listening and voting for stupidity. I’m an environmentally conscious person. However, the answer your party is chasing and enforcing isn’t possible without the support of present and future sources! Vote, Republican.

Yeah! Now, what’s right, wrong or that most precious in between.? That’s a hard , hard, hard correction;! But, just acknowledging, makes nothing better for America. In fact, inviting socialist/ communism into America! Yep! So, what are you proud of today?
