I don't know many 82year old rockers. It was a very poignant night, most songs focused on his own mortality. He sounds more like Tom Waits now but then, I never considered him to be a crooner. The lyrics are as always profound . I wish he had given the lead guitarist some solo rein and of course we wanted more of the old stuff. I imagine Bob says "tough" this is what I'm serving! It was a privilege to be there.
Yeah, it wasn't like only the most casual fan is clueless that Dylan released the incredible "Rough And Rowdy Ways" in 2020, announced The Rough And Rowdy Ways Tour 2021-2024 two years ago or that the setlists for the well over 100 concerts Dylan has performed since late Summer 2021 haven't been available through any number of sources during that time. So I would expect the setlist to continue to have a few surprises along the way and although Dylan never stays in the same place for too long probably through the rest of 2023 and through December 2024. Dylan May pepper in a few more surprises but he's going to keep the new record the centerpiece for the next year-and-a-half. It's a brilliant move about the same time he's ready to change if he wants to go out and do a year of mostly greatest hits with only a couple songs from the new record he has that option that gives him a lot of artistic freedom. However even before the surprise of Dylan's brilliant 2020 release hit Dylan setlist selection concentrated heavily on the six or seven records Dylan has released since and including Dylan's three-time Grammy award-winning time out of mind from 1997. One thing is Dylan's 5-disc headfirst dive into obscure songs from the American Songbook that were mostly associated with Sinatra turned out to be a great move as the music got quieter Dylan pushed his vocals upfront and instead of having to shout over loud gutbucket blues rock and roll with the quieter more spare accompaniment and Dylan's vocals in the front of the mix allowed him to sing with much more nuanced than just trying to shout over loud 12 Bar gut bucket Blues. I'm still enthralled and curious where Dylan's going to go after 20-24 musically. Like I said he could go back and do a greatest-hits tour although that has never been his style right if he wanted to he could he hasn't done anything close to that in quite a while.
I saw this heading and thought how is Dylan gonna pull this one off…..he always pulls it off to perfection. One of my favorite Van Morrison songs sung by my all time favorite rocker. Keep on keeping on beautiful Dylan. ❤️❤️🌹🌹

What could be more perfect than Dylan, in toreador threads, playing a bullfighter arena where so much blood has been shed, singing his late songs of fate and (no) mercy? When "That Old Black Magic" didn't materialize in its designated spot, being replaced by some strumming that turned into a moment even more magical - this, Bob inviting us "Into the Mystic" (so beautifully captured here @ moth) - well... that's where last night's show has taken me. Just a few hours from Oslo, but a million miles away.

Bob's stil has it, he can feel the music and he plays it from the heart. I feel blessed to have seem him in concert in 2008 in some pueblo I can't remember the name of North of Madrid. I still have the T-shirt.

Thanks to the US Navy, I was in port in Benidorm, SP in 1986...my pals and I took the train to Alicante...a wonderful town with an old style plaza...Bob has great taste. What a place to play...and what a song to choose...Dang...we're really fortunate to be around on the planet at the same time as him, Bowie, Sinead, Shane, etc...

Bob sings this Van Morrison cover so thoughtfully and and sincerely but still makkes it sound like one of his compositions full off emotion. Let it roll on Bobby Alan. See you in Barcelona!
@@kingoftheseamusic You must not know Van. Bob is his idol and both have performed together. Van did the best cover of Its all over now baby blue when he was still with Them. He will absolutely cherish it as he has with others that he's covered. Ďid you even listen to his great band? This is not about Dylans voice which Van knows, was going away by the late 70s. More about honor.
JEEZE ... I only wish I could, face to face, acknowledge the way in which Mr Dylan has brought forth his "INSPIRATIONs". Layers and layers endlessly manifesting, for the most part, actually RELIGIOUS Truths and metaphors and motifs as a true PROPHET should. I personally know these expressions do NOT come without COST !!! Zimmy has made his place in Valhalla/Nirvana/Heaven/ et al many times over. Thank You Mr Dylan .... denis !!!
