Bob Dylan regresaba a los escenarios en el concierto a beneficio de Bangladesh que había organizado George Harrison, en el Madison Square Garden. En esta canción fue acompañado por el mismo Harrison y por Leon Russel.
I was 14 when my Aunty Carol took me to see the film Concert for Bangladesh - I was blown away by the music and in particular Bob Dylan. Went out and bought the boxed record set and became a lifetime Dylan fan.
Believe it or not, Dylan was nervous as hell about this appearance to the point where he wasn't sure he was going to go on stage. This was the first song, and you can hear the nervousness, and you can hear him slowly get over it when the crowd just loved that he was there! So, there was a time when Bob Dylan wasn't sure if he still fit into this rock world. He needn't worry, he was still the leader.
Dylan for sure wasn’t nervous fgs! He was just trying to make Leon feel relaxed and George even more so! Dylan never felt nervous he felt Godlike! Being Dylan was Godlike!
@@dondamon4669 But he was according to Robert Sheldon, Bob's official biographer. It was only during the first verse or so of JUST LIKE A WOMAN that the crowd went wild and in the next verse you can hear Bob coming out. Sure he is the most important artist of the 20th century, but he had only done one lame concert in 4 years, at the ISLE of White. George wasn't sure he would show up.
Bob Dylan's voice was so crisp and clear. I ve read he quit smoking just before this concert. This was one of the best live performances of Mr Bob Dylan
Had my first baby and this was on the hospital radio. She aches just like a woman. He was my favorite singer during the 70's loved his poetry and charisma of a different sort. He just was who he was accept or reject, but ooh what a loss if you rejected.
Me too brother as time goes on and on how i come to appreciate the late 50s 60s and 70s it a different world now and it really is a selfish me ,mine kindve world we had the answers in the 60s it was simple peace love you brother asnd SISTER now its hate ,creed, and what i can do for myself i think it stinks To all my people out there peace and love always love and peace
Same with Eric Clapton...Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker, Jimi Hendrix, Duane Allman, Carl Radle, George and John, his son Connor and many more. And to think that two of the greatest, rocking love songs of all time...the sweet ballad written by Beatle George "Something", and Derek and the Dominoes, "Layla" ....about Patti Boyd Harrison---who first married George, and then Eric!
I love Bob Dylan. Love Leon. Love this great version of a Bob classic. Yet no one says one word about George's high baritone harmony? C'mon boys and girls! Talking about a Beatle with Leon and Bob!
@@jnagarya519 I never personally knew any of the above, nor claimed to. But as a Musician from LA since 1970, there are many other well known musicians of fame I have personally met and knew. No use even "dropping names" to satisfy you, but I have been active on the LA Music Scene from the late 60's to mid 90's. Sorry if I popped your bubble and stereotype of me. Live well, and be healthy and safe in this period of COVID-19, my friend. p.s. Outside of my love of the Beatles, I was one of the lucky ones who saw George's only limited tour of the USA, November, 1974 with Ravi Shankar opening, Tom Scott and the LA Horns, with Billy Preston.
J Nagarya or maybe he didn’t see the need to use last names because we all understand who he’s talking about in the context of the comment section, you pretentious prick.
this song reminds me of a weekend in Newhaven.Sussex a good matea van and female comany in the 1960 swe had lots of fun y Amazing what can be done on the front seats
Antonio, mi gran amigo de entonces, siempre cantandomela con su guitarra a cuestas a todos los lados,.ayyy que tiempo mas bonito!...decia que era yo clavada!.
One of our most beloved song-writer's, voice of many generations, an artist who loved in the word's gently sung in every beauriful style!! God Blessed you, with greatest respect!!!God ❤❤
One of my fav versions of this song. Love early Bob when he had great voice and sung with so much emotion in his voice. He always picked the top people for his harmony and back up band. Thank you Bob for being part of our lives for so many years!
Favorite band is White Stripes and Pink Floyd since I was 14, then I discovered Dylan, and this song in particular, and understand now why Jack White once said, "I have 3 fathers really, God, My Father, and Bob Dylan.
Men, when I saw the movie "Concert for Bangladesh", in the year's 70, was indindescribable moment for me. I get to way to the cinema like a dream, like as wonderful dream. I can say, it was the moment so happy for me that I never forget it. For never and ever on my life!
I love them all- they became one in the moment. The whole is greater than the parts. Just the way it’s meant to be - a shift in the universe that night and you can feel it still
Nobody feels any pain...I really love this version of Just Like A Woman. I just love Bob Dylan. I wish I could have been there. I was unfortunately too young. My mother Susan loved Bob Dylan as well. God bless her soul... she's in heaven now. This song makes me think of her. After my mother's death I learned from my father that my older sister Ramona Suzanne's name was given to her because of Dylan's song called To Ramona. What a trip..as they would say in the 1970's.
Nobody feels any pain Tonight as I stand inside the rain Ev’rybody knows That Baby’s got new clothes But lately I see her ribbons and her bows Have fallen from her curls She takes just like a woman, yes, she does She makes love just like a woman, yes, she does And she aches just like a woman But she breaks just like a little girl Queen Mary She’s my friend Yes, I believe I’ll go see her again Nobody has to guess That Baby can’t be blessed Till she sees finally that she’s like all the rest With her fog, her amphetamine and her pearls She takes just like a woman, yes She makes love just like a woman, yes, she does And she aches just like a woman But she breaks just like a little girl It was raining from the first And I was dying there of thirst So I came in here And your long-time curse hurts But what’s worse Is this pain in here I can’t stay in here Ain’t it clear that I just can’t fit Yes, I believe it’s time for us to quit But when we meet again Introduced as friends Please don’t let on that you knew me when I was hungry and it was your world Ah, you fake just like a woman, yes, you do You make love just like a woman, yes, you do Then you ache just like a woman But you break just like a little girl Songwriters: Bob Dylan
i don't care what the current bob dylan lovers say, sure, he's still got great lyrics and even better musicians, but so glad i got to see him when bobby had a real voice...
I was 19 years old in 1966 in first year university when I discovered the poet-songwriter Bob Dylan. The first album I purchased was Another Side of Bob Dylan. Immediately I collected all his earlier LPs and carried through the rest - Bringing It All Back Home, Highway 61 Revisited and the masterpiece Blonde on Blonde, with the gem that is Just Like A Woman. This performance of Just Like a Woman at George Harrison's Concert for Bangladesh is simply unparalleled. Never done better before or since.
Leon Russell was a session musician who had a few years in the limelight. No big talent. What turns me off to the music is the uncritical "If it's rock, then it's automagically genius, and anyone who happened to be in the room with [fill in the blank] is a genius and more talented than all the others who are greater talents than all the others who have no superior," blah-blah-blah. The "Boomer" generation created a disproportionate amount of terrific music. But it also produced a disproportionate amount of garbage -- see non-studio "Grateful Dead" for a mass producer of BORING.
I was just a year older. Cassidy's songs still are special but I was lucky too, one of the youngest in a large extended family I was exposed to Dylan, Leaon Russell, Joe Cocker etc. I loved the 'glam' scene because I was of that age but these guys, wow.
i found dylan by mistake, a mistake can always be a blessing, beautiful lyrics, could he write the same songs again probably not, thats why his unique.
"Just Like a Woman" What a great trio, right? I was fortunate to be at first show at the Garden Concert For Bangladesh, George and Friends. From Ravi Shankar till the last wonderful Full Group on stage, MUSIC. I've never been in the presence of so many talented people. So much love. "She Breaks Just Like a Little Girl" :)
Wow Dylan... the lyrics, your voice 😍😍 and the fact this was for the bangladesh concert was amazing - we became a nation just 4 months and 15 days after this concert
I was 19, living in the DC area and home from college for the summer. I heard the concert advertised on a local radio station and wrote away for tickets. My brother and I and some friends drove up to NYC for the evening concert. This song was hands down the highlight of the show, among many other highlights. Grateful I saw it.
this is one of the best versions of "just like a woman" for sure. i was 5, got into Dylan in the early 80's, was introduced to rock and roll when my sister and future brother in law snuck me into the drive in in the cubby of the vw beetle she drove, tells me i knew all the lyrics to ziggy stardust when i was 6. george is my favorite beatle, and leon, well , is leon, mad dogs and englishmen, the best live album of all time, thank god for leon russell.
As my classmates & I graduated from good 'ol Ross School, CA (class of 1971) -- this classic 3some charmed "The Big Apple"! Ahhh ....... those indeed were the days ....... filled with sunshine, the blossoming of youth, fun with friends, summer camps, our family was completely intact in perhaps the finest County in the U.S.A. ....... those of us who lived there at that time know to what I refer. George Harrison had just embarked upon his solo career with his eventual classic "All Things Must Pass"! Great times, lots of wonderful memories .......... LOVE IT (despite the troubles too numerous to describe here). Cheers from Cav on the anniversary of Mt. St. Helens, WA "blowin' in the wind"! 5/18/15.
Been reading the book Blood Telegram which mentions this concert. Dylan returned to stage after a motorcycle accident. Out of recluse he gave one of his best concerts. Harrison visits India befriends sitar maestro Ravishankar, a bengali. On his request to do something for the bangladeshis came up this concert.
So smooth! With George Harrison along for the ride ...... I LOVE THE '70s! Bob was in fine form! The message of the song: Women put on a public image -- but deep inside their just kids. Maybe the same can be said about men. Happy Holidays from Cav in OR! 12/16/14.
