I was once in a Camden Town Irish pub with a friend. About 1975. A guy came up to us: "Are you Luke Kelly?" (My memory has him in a cowboy hat, speaking with a drawl...) And my friend said yes. "Bobbie says hi to you!" and your man walked back to his friends. Luke was SO thrilled. They'd been together as almost kids, unknowns on the folk circuit in the States. And Dylan the icon remembered .. taking the trouble to send greetings. Icon to icon.
Hello gorgeous fan, accept my vehement protestations of gratitude. I just wanted to write to let you know how much I appreciate the positive support and love through the years, you’ll inspire me to do more and here are my wishes for you; May this year keep you healthy, May you achieve all of your daily targets; and may you remain happy and whole!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
First heard Bob Dylan from tapes played by American Peace Corp personal who were living in the same house as me in Kuala Lumpur in 1968. Bob inspired many of us studying in University of Malaya. We were really fired up during the Vietnam war. Since then Bob has always remained one of my top singers. Love you Bob and may you live forever.
As an englishman who frequently professes his love of Ireland (and Dylan) it shames me to say I only stumbled upon this by happenstance and was unaware of it. It shames us all that it only has 180,000 views
Dear people of Ireland, we are watching a few months late. Thank you for this gorgeous program celebrating Bob Dylan. Bob is a life long inspiration to us, with his remarkable poetry and music! Hearing some of these precious poems and songs brought grateful tears. Thank you for your inspirations, Bob and Happy 80th Birthday!
From 14 to 74 and counting, Bob Dylan has been at my side and at my back. He has been the sound track of my life, and that of many others. My friends and I spoke "Dylanese" to each other - using his songs as shorthand when we reached out. Thank you so much for this.
From Calgary Alberta, Canada. Because of Bob D (and Leonard C) I quit Law school to be a poet/clown/actor/producer. The first number they played the Girl from the North Country sent a wave of emotion through me and I have tears streaming down my face. I really had forgotten how much Bob has helped me become an artist. Happy B Day.
The generations through his lifetime! So fortunate are we to be here, now. The tunes/songs/words may be here for several centuries! I adore the way these artists have carried the message of Bob "Shakespeare" Dylan. Thank you to these Young Folks. What a wonderful gift from you musicians! Thank you.
I have a good friend who quit being a corporate lawyer to become a clown and full-time father, one of the happiest people, best father and husband, that I have ever met. Sounds like he has good company in you :)
Hi Kirk - I've lived my entire life in Calgary. So, cheers my fellow Calgarian! I agree that Dylan and Cohen have been a big part of what I am today. I could have gone to the University of Calgary, but Dylan sent me in the direction of being a lifelong artist.
Glad I stumbled upon this. On November 8, 1964 I didn't have the $2 needed to see Bob live at the University of Maine but I made up for it eleven years later at the world-famous Bangor Auditorium as he, Joanie and Scarlet rocked the old house with their Rolling Thunder review. My Back Pages
How have I not seen this before? Bob you were the voice of our generation. Thank you for for living a life of poetry, music and public service. The world has been a better place with you having graced us with your presence!!!!!
@@janetbrown3385 He did not want to represent anyone but himself, as you say; but his fame and his brilliance overshadowed his desire and did indeed make him the voice of his generation and generations that have followed--think Eddie Vedder. Dylan's words will inspire others for multiple generations to come.
Hi its johny from Australia. I love you guys for giving me such a beautiful performance of talented Irish artists my hart melted as I listened thank you all

What a great tribute to Bob D. 80ties. With such great musicians -- no hype, no glitz, no 'popular nonsense. Performed with true heart. Yeah..Bob the troubadour, the poet; "I hope you know it, don't blow it."! greetings from Crestone, Colorado USA.
I would be at Bob Dylans performing in the village back in the 60s, Cafe Wha, The White Horse, Washington Square fountain. It was a difficult time, for most of us, breaking out of our shells, in the big City. Happy birthday Robert Zimmerman. Spike Sousa, local artist, Old Naples fl.
Oops my mistake, after all these years I've only just got it: 'I'm younger than that now.' It finally makes sense because I was thinking it should have been 'I'm younger then than now; it's all a bit cracked really isn't it? Never mind. I always get confused over the song title: I wish I'd known what I know now when I was younger.' I was at the Isle of Wight festival in '69 when Bob was headlining, we could hardly hear him stuck at the back of this huge crowd of long hairs in a big field. Then we had to make our way back to the mainland in the dark to start with. Those were the days; I think Bob left in a helicopter, we could hear it overhead as well as him laughing.
It was so wonderful to see and hear this very special tribute to a man that everyone in the tribute loves so deeply. Like them, Dob Dylan has touched me deeply too, and I thank everyone responsible for this touching birthday tribute. Cheers from Baltimore Maryland, USA!!!

If only these beautiful renditions of Bob's music were available - I'd purchase at least six copies to give them to my Dylan appreciating friends. Magnificent!
This is a delightful treat, Bob has been my favourite singer,/songwriter from I was a teenager over 56 years ago. Wonderful performsnces, all. Carol, from Kingston, Jamaica
happy 80th Birthday Bob , Thanks for Irish people for giving us the oportunity to celebrate the birthday of ower admirable teacher and also thanks for the tow ladies for the beautiful song
From Cedar Park, Texas..I have always loved the song Girl from the North Country. I am from Virginia, MN and Bob Dylan grew up in Hibbing, MN. I am also 80.
When one is needy the BARD shows up....rambled into this just now, an East Village NYC Sunday afternoon...and here this is right on time. Hearing these offerings is a walk thru of my 71 years mostly with Dylan's relentless generous phases and phrases.
What an absolute treat to stumble across this. Whatever people think of Dylan, and I know there is a wide range of views out there, one thing is for sure, musicians love covering Dylan songs!
Dylan songs are simply the best material out there. I love Bob’s abilities as a performer, but I understand they can be an acquired taste. Other artists can’t wait to get their hands on these songs, and I’m glad!
This is wonderful concert Bob Dylan deserve all the best things in life. Happy birthday to Bob Dylan he is still remarkable person. Keep up the great work you are doing Bob Dylan. Love from a fan of yours Adam.
Bob was always playing in the house I grew up in, outside Pittsburgh. I new every lyric to every song but did not no the names of the songs. As the years crept by I learned the names. The 1st time I saw BD live was all summer long in 1987 when he graced the stage with one of his greatest heroes and friend, Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead. Wow, what a summer man. Since the summer of 87 I made sure I got to see BD at least a few 10 shows a year. I'm still seeing Bob yearly, now with my three boys that absolutely love this troubadours stage presence with his band that sharpens the guitar work year after year for Bob. I sense the affection of Bob's loyalty to travel and play a different show every night. That's the magic of Dylan, just like Jerry G and the boy's. If you have never have seen BD, do your heart and ears a favor and buy a ticket and take the ride for an evening before it's gone. Your heart and ears and soul will thank you. Very nice show this was in Ireland. Thank you folks, much love and respect to all whom learn and play BD. It's the cosmic dance and a sure ticket to enter the pearly gates. ❤🎸
I happened upon this You Tube video on 10/12/'21. It's quite wonderful. I first saw Bob Dylan in concert at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in 1965: My parents took me. To see him perform 'Desolation Row' with just a guitar and harmonica is an eerie memory.
Here it is post Bob's birthday, and I just now found and listened to your utterly fabulous and touching tribute. The first two songs blew me away, and I thought there's no way the musicians and artists are going to continue to ace this.I say this because I just rarely hear Bob Dylan covers that come close to touching that place inside that Bob touches or create the sound that delivers.Well, y'all proved me wrong. The entire celebration was just awesome. Thank you! Happy Birthday, Bob! Debra from North Alabama
I am so grateful to each of the artists, musicians, organizers ànd Deerfield for inviting us to the best birthday party for Bob Dylan.♡ This most treasured musical present'ation was a stunning tribute to Bob Dylan. How fitting in your finalè that sealed it with his anthem song Forever Young. Bob's poetic wordsmithing legacy has created a place where time stands still and together we are truly...with Bob forever young. Thank you.
This is so wonderful. Bob Dylan at times infuriates, the ultimate chameleon, but geez, he is brilliant and this is a beautiful tribute. I love it when others sing Dylan's songs and put their own stamp on them.
What a find !!! Well done to all the musicians and presenter, Loah. For me, Bob’s stand out album was the wonderful Slow Train Coming featuring my favourite song, When He Returns. Happy Birthday Bob from Belfast, Northern Ireland 🎸
Love this!!! I did my first book report on Bob Dylan! Absolutely Main Street. I played harmonica and got am A!!! It was in 6th grade! Love to Bob Dylan and thanks for all the inspiration ❤️
Many thanks for this tribute that has restituted Bob's spirit for a while in an out of time so beautiful place located in a so important country for his music ! Happy birthday Bob (with some months delay...) !
I found this ten moths after it happend, Bob Dylan has been in myheart all my most of my life from about the age Im 65 in a few days. Thanks Bob you bought me through many hard times. Sorry but I still don't drink coffee. Hope you still have some good poems left.
All the songs performed: Girl N.Country 8:36 Oh Sister 15:34 One more cup of coffee 24:29 Feel My Love 37:45 Arthur Mcbride 47:20 Its Alright Ma 57:35 Restless Farewell 1:04:45 Forever Young
The first cover , so beautiful . Their voices compliment so that it stayed with me for a few days later … was hearing it in my noggin but couldn’t remember who or where . Viewing history is my friend .
This is one of the best 80 Dylan celebration. Splendid, serious, almost perfect. Sorry for to find you a month later. Lot of thanks from Madrid (Spain)
Bob Dylan is the essence of poetry and song, which is beautifully illustrated in the fantastic renditions of "Dignity", "It's Alright Ma", and "Forever Young". On a personal level, "Oh Sister", followed by "One More Cup Of Coffee", are some of Dylan's best, yet rarely sung or covered by other artists. When I was a teenager in 1977 in the small town of BelKsiri, Morocco. My dad had an iconic 70's Sharp Boombox, which I used to sneak out of the house in the evening/night and haul to my favorite music listening spot, on the outer side of the wall of Lycee Moulay Rachid highschool (facing the woods leading to river Sebou). I would sit there for hours listening in the dark to Hurricane, or Sara, barely making out some lyrics here and there -English is not my native language-, trying to decipher what Dylan wanted to say through that intense, sincere voice, and sob to the painful words like "Couldn't help but make me feel ashamed to live in a land where justice is a game" or "Now the beach is deserted except for some kelp, and a piece of an old ship that lies on the shore" Thank you Mr. Dylan for the hundreds of thousands of hours you occupied my ears, mind, heart, and soul. A thousand years from now, Bob Dylan's canon of work will stay forever young and pertinent.
Just read all the comments of this celebration…..I guess no one of the haters/dislikers understood, that this tribute is an mostly „Irish“tribute to Bob‘s songs…..just listen to the „Irish“version of „One More Cup of Coffee“…….really special! I do like this tribute, being a Sothern German musician & songwriter
The Irish connection to Country & Western Music in the USA is huge the Musicians that emigrated to the new World brought with them a mix of music that blended in all across the east coast to the South & and wild West . Love from Dublin.
Dear Mr Bob Dylan Happy 80th year on this blue spinning planet.... If you ever see this, I am so sorry that the acoustics of our fairly new concert hall in Sydney sucked badly, where I felt so privledged to hear you there a few years ago, 2018. It was difficult, I think you may have been getting feedback from the speakers and through the mics. Who builds such a place so badly...? I thoroughly enjoyed it, but felt your pain. Not your fault, but maybe your production, could have checked the sound reviews? Wish I had of seen you at our local Enmore. That would have gone off! In kindred spirit Eliza, Dulwich Hill, Sydney Australia PS We had bets that you would or wouldn't speak. I won in that you didn't address the crowd..... My favourite song of yours is, "One more cup of coffee". PPS To the musicians from this collective, You have really do some great renditions, a great tribute. Fantastic project, in Ireland. I'm sure he is going to love it!
Not to change your mind, but i like this Eels cover version a lot. Maybe you'll like it too. :) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hqYjnj1vfZg.html
Lisa Hannigan and Loah. Check out the "Other Voices" version of Lisa's "Undertow" if you enjoyed their performance. You'll be blown away. They are incredible, especially together.
A respectful, subdued and heartfelt homage, albeit lacking a touch of energy, for our favorite old geezer and Academy Award winner, Maestro Bob Dylan.May you stay forever youngish, Bob.
fantastic! tangled in you bob, thanks for the inspiration the elation and all you creation and lots of love from all of us who you have become part of the fabric or our lives! god bless!
Muchas gracias por compartir Larry Dineen. Fantástica velada "a la manera irlandesa": unpluged, voces, músicos, ambiente, poesía, la música de Bob Dylan tan bien elegida, Tom Brady... Fantástico.
@Indrani B. ~ Me too from TX where so much problems exist. Watching over and over again to get away from human ugliness. Loved his music and poetry back in 1965 and now even more. Long live Bob, I am right behind you❣️ By the way, these artists are fantastic or what❗️Thank you.
Yes, I like his interpretation - it takes inspiration from the original but conveys it in a different context and so breathes new life to it. The artistic liberties he takes with it work admirably well while showing proper deference to the original.
I think this mick Flannery guy butchered It's alright ma. I don't care for his version at all but I respect the fact that he is a Bob Dylan fan trying to pay him a tribute but I think his version of the song is terrible. Call it "artistic liberties" or whatever but it is a terrible arrangement.
If I'd been invited to play one of Bob's tune, it would have been : Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts. Greetings from Hawaii. I've been playing Dylan tunes since the mid-1960's.
