This is his song to Sara before they were married. And you may remember this lyric from his song “Sara” you reacted to: “Staying up for days in the Chelsea Hotel writing ‘Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands’ for you”
"With your sheet-metal memory of Cannery Row" -- Dylan unveils his character with a reference to novelist John Steinbeck, who won the Nobel Prize in Literature 1962.
It was from listening to that lyric that I searched out the book. I did the same thing after hearing Bob mentioning F. Scott Fitzgerald in the song Ballad of a Thin Man.
If you want to hear Bob's voice most beautiful, the very rare "Pretty Saro" will bring a tear to your eyes. Hardly anyone that knows Bob has ever discovered this song. You be the first.
Super simple melody - first one I attempted on my guitar. Hypnotic rhythm. Note the playing card reference - one of the most consistent through lines within Dylan's lifetime of heterodox song writing.
This is for you, Cimdy, and for anyone who would like to know Bob Dylan a bit better. He has had a great affect not only on his listeners, and also upon the people involved in the recording of his songs. Below is a link to a twenty minutes video, that is filled with people who explain a lot about how Bob works, about his kindness, thoughtfulness and how appreciative they were to be working for him. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Mjoio_QP5qM.html
