June 24, 2024 and still feeling it. I fell asleep to Desolation Row every night when I was thirteen years old. I knew at that age I was listening to a genius.
The big mistake our country made was painting the passports brown - how can you take a proper trip with a defiled passport? You need a proper passport, clean and bright, to travel the cosmos. This song explains our national dilemma. How did he know so much - such as the 'beauty parlor is filled with sailors; the circus is in town.'?
When I’m depressed, when nothin’ seems to be in the right place and I feel all wrong, when events pass me by tumultuously, I listen to Bob. He is one of the few lights of my life and even if I don’t know him, he speaks to me with his music words. May God bless him forever.
Time stops in the face of art like this. Just pulls the rug right out from under you. Doesn’t matter where you land, the bliss is in the falling. The guy is a fucking genius and I feel deeply blessed to have shared time on earth with him. This is what Shakespeare would have done had he been born in the 20th century.
@@janitare8829 You are right. And it is still inside of him. It's the spirit of knowledge, wisdom, and truth. Which is the spirit of G♾D🙏 Sended out of the Universe down to earth to learn and undestand...
It's been nearly 60 years since Bob Dylan released his debut album, and here in 2020, he just announced his 39th. My love for this man and his music will never die. Thanks Bob for all the great music over the decades.
Yes, and you'll just lay there by the juniper, while the moon is bright, (and) watch them jugs a-filling in the pale moonlight (oh, from the beloved "Copper Kettle" tune) . I trust neither of us is 'fixing to die' - to borrow from LP-1 in 1962.
He has helped light up some of the darkest moment’s of my life. I’m 67 so it’s been most of it. More importantly, he’s been there for all the good times too!
Just wonderfull ! I am a 74 frenchman and discover only now this superb masterpiece .Thank you mister Bob Dylan . I loved all my life what you did and keep doing so .Hervé Madelmont
Totally agree. Felt that very way when I first heard it. Still feel that way today. Most songs are, often subconsciously, tied to a time in our minds. This one just isn't.
People wonder what it would have been like to live at the same time as Michelangelo… or Da Vinci … or Van Gogh … or Picasso…? Well… it would have been just like growing up listening to Bob Dylan… during my lifetime… certain people come along… every few decades or centuries… to put their life’s work… out and change the world… so grateful I was here at the same time as Dylan… thank you Bob… for all the music 🎼 !!! 🌎🕊️ 🌜🌞🌛
Hello I really do appreciate you for being a big fan thank you for your wonderful comments on my post it really means a lot to me.I sincerely hope you never stop listening to my music…..❤️❤️❤️😊
I'll be turning 73 in a few weeks and other than the real Jesus I found . The one before the council of Nicene. Bob Dylan has been the biggest influence in my life. His philosophy , poetry and music are unmatched in modern times
i have to admit, I was never a big Dylan fan while I was growing up. However, my son reintroduced me to his music. I have so many fond memories of he and I driving by the beach, with the windows down, listening to Dylan's incredible music. Series of Dreams happens to be my favorite song of his.
Dylan is a genius. I had the honor of seeing him play at the Warehouse in New Orleans in the 60's and at several NO Jazz Festivals. I have every album, practically all of the books written about him and much more. I admire him as much as I admire his poetry.
I can only agree with you. Mr. Mercedes also sent me too this place and i love this amazing TV series and this song by Bob Dylan - I had never heard it before - caught me immediately.
Same here ,he change my life 35 years ago.Now I just heard he has won the Nobel Lituratur Price.Iv said it for many years that he should have gotten it ,now he has...Yea...!!!!!

I only recently discovered this song on a bootleg collection. I can't quit listening. I can only imagine his dreams or what he dreams up about dreams! It's a very beautiful almost mystical lyric.
I felt the exact same way when I discovered this song the same way you did. I kept replaying it. Thinking of his real life dreams. And these lyrics are just fascinating. Love it.
....at some point i realized just that.....'being Bob Dylan' at many moments had to be a real pain-in-the-ass, & i think We see & feel that in a number of songs; but like every great artist, he had No choice (the poet May Sarton once said, "why do i write?...because if i didn't write, i would die"........i have spent decades realizing the truth of that... (material) richness & fame (i think) are not very 'easy to bear'...... sure glad he Has for 6 decades of my life & Still Going !!!.... All Hail Robert Zimmerman, a Sacred Bard if ever there was one....
Incredible song, I’ve loved this since it was released back in 1992 with the Bootleg set. I’m amazed that Dylan chose to leave this track off the final cut of his 1989 studio album No Mercy. Many other performers would have this song as the centrepiece of an album.
Absolutely adore the fact that most of the video's footage was lifted from Bob's next-to-unknown cinema film, Renaldo and Clara. I loved it, but it's so esoteric and long that it truly does feel like a series of dreams, making it perfect for this
Another jewel. At the time when I was digging around trying to acquire all Bob Dylan. I bought the bootleg 1-3. From the very first track I knew I'd struck gold! Ramblin Gamblin Willie, Nobody cept you and then BOOM! A series of dreams wobbled my jaw like the greatest of doves. Yip. I also was kicked out many hoos pertys at the turn of the millennium for demanding I DJ. And demanding that everyone shoosh! Listen. But being intellectually deficient. They just did not get it. There comes a time in all our lives when we suddenly realised that these folks are imbociles and one must remove one's self in order to grow. Become introverted to open up the mind and surround the universe. 10 points to the winner.
let me follow you down....series of dreams, I used to travel with your wonderful songs in my sweet ears, listening a sweet heart like you...since years and years....falling like a rolling stone, loving you in thousand of dreams....

This video is great because of how they mixed in all the old footage and it works with the song so well. It captures the way we see Dylan from so many different times in his life. He has been on quite a fantastic journey yet there is a sincere part of him that seems so easy to relate to. He is not like a red carpet celebrity but someone you could just end up chatting with in a diner without pretension. Even in the world of artists there is something so unique about him.
Every recording artist will dream to have a song like this. But for Bob this is just an outtake. Blind Willie McTell, Foot of Pride, Abandoned Love, Red River Shore... Outtakes!
Pablo Picasso has been the most important & influent Artist of the First half of the twentieth century, such as Bob in the second half. None in any artistic or creative field Can Be matched to him. A Lord gift to America & the rest of the world. But I wonder does mankind deserve It? Throughout the years where human compassion, which latins called Pietas, has gone?when he left this world, than maybe we shall understood his lesson & we'll remain with the regret of an inconsolable loss.
I know it's incredible what gets left off of his output. I think that he us probably the worse judge of his music, that there is. Then I have to temper that with, well it is HIS music
Finalmente !!! Magnifico!!! . Genial. Bob Dylan!!! Congratulazioni!!! . Premio Nobel !! per la Letteratura!! Con grande mia gioia ! Felice!!!! Love you ❤️❤️❤️
He's got everything he needs, he's an artist, he don't look back. he can take the dark out of the nighttime and pain the day time black. he never stumbles, he's got no place to fall. he's nobody's child. the law can't touch him at all.
