I wrote to Bob many times when I was 12-13 years old, always responded by signing whatever it was I sent him. He was a special man, and great to his fans. I’m 39 now, Benny’s age, and I think I’ll stop counting just like he did. But I grew up watching all of these great talents on AMC and TCM. Alice Faye holds a special place in my heart for answering my Christmas letter in 1997, it was to be her last Christmas. I still cherish what she sent me to this day. We will never see the calibre and the quality of this talent again. The only down side to seeing and growing up watching all of these great stars is that you compare to the garbage that exists today, and you realize that people have either become delusional, too conforming, or just don’t care anymore about true talent. Corporations and cheap culture have taken over the entertainment world and we are all the worse off for it. But at least true talent lives on here on RU-vid. RIP Bob, you are missed.

It grieves me watching things like this. All the stars (and most of my relatives) from when I was growing up--and for years afterwards--are gone. Bob Hope was up there, along with Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, Steve Allen, Dinah Shore, Walt Disney and even Phyllis Diller. Thanks for the memories.

this is a great video. one of the few i've seen that documents the "Hollywood Royalty" that supported our Country and Military. Our Greatest Generation and the Golden Era.

This was America at its Best. Morale was our secret weapon that helped keep the US strong during those impossible years. Sadly, I don't believe that we will ever see this kind of talent, support or patriotism for our Military or nation, as we have seen as examples from these Great ones. No matter how corny, my family always enjoyed all of the Bob Hope TV Specials, and for all of the efforts that went into providing us with good clean entertainment. 🎶"Thanks for the Memories"🎶❤

I love these true stories. As much as the word "iconic" has taken the place of "awesome", I must say that Hope is an icon, and was a great American!

The Americans helped us so much in WW2 : I really think we would have lost if they hadn't come to Europe, etc. We must still thank them , and many other countries too, of course, for making a concerted effort ( at huge sacrifice for so many ) to stop that monster Nazi, by all pulling together . Loved this video with Bob and Dolores Hope. The story of the baby photo was so touching : did I see Bob still feeling emotional about it ? What a lovely, generous gesture. 🇬🇧💕🇺🇲💕🇬🇧💕🇺🇲💕🇬🇧💕🇺🇲

So was his daughter, Linda. She went to San Francisco College for Women(Lone Mountain College more popular name). It was called that cause it was the women’s college up on a lone hill a couple blocks from the University of San Francisco, an all boys college in 1964. Linda was a hero because ever two weeks she used to do the laundry for Brian my roommate. He was on scholarship from Chicago on the USF basketball team. 😅

When America was great. Men and women knew what their roles were and they gave their best for the Country and for the greater good of the people of the United States, especially those kids that were risking their young lives on the battlefields around the world. I doubt we will ever see America united as we were the day after the Japanese attack on the Pacific Fleet in Pearl Harbor. The Country went from being divided between the isolationists and pacifists willing to avoid war if at all possible on one hand and interventionists who felt it was up to America to come in and quite possibly save not only Democracy at home and around the world but possibly Western Civilization itself. The divide ended with the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941 and then we were in all the way when Hitler and Mussolini of Italy declared war on the United States 4 days later. The army, navy and marine recruiting offices couldnt handle the huge numbers of young men who rushed to volunteer before they were drafted so they could pick their service. The Air Force was called the Army Air Corps and was part of the U.S. Army until after the war. It was, like the Paratroopers of the soon to be formed 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions, an all volunteer force.

It comes out now after Bob Hope is dead for years that he was a womanizer. And it\s funny looking at his wife looking at Bob about these woman in the pictures but Bob kept a straight face like his wife didn't know about Bob rovering eye for the ladies. But Delores loved Bob so much she stuck by him right to the end. What a good woman and wife Delores Hope was.
