Bob James catalog is amazing. Soundtrack to my childhood. Especially “Touchdown” and “One”. Can’t forget the “One on One” collab album as well. The work with Idris Muhammad and Grover Washington Jr also. Thank you to my dad for introducing me to so many great musicians 🙏🏼

Another reason this and other Bob James records got sampled is because they were so perfectly produced. They just sound great.

Bob James' relative indifference to "Nautilus" is proof of the old adage "One man's trash is another man's treasure". A song that he considered a "throwaway" later became a staple in Hip-Hop production. #Incredible

Man, so cool to see Bob James on the show. My parents were huge on Bob James and Earl Klugh, so I grew up with a lot of their records in the house. It was a rare instance where I knew the source beforehand when hearing it on the hip hop tracks I was vibing to in high school. ❤

Damn it was a throw away song!!!!!! I was a BeBop and Hard Bop snob when it came to Jazz. But thanks to Hip Hop, Bob James, Herbie Hancock, Grover Washington Jr., Donald Byrd, Lou Donaldson, Les McCann, Ronnie Foster, Lonnie Liston, Cymande are all in heavy rotation with me. If you're a real Hip Hop head check them out, you'll have that stupid grin on your face with every artist mentioned.

Donald Byrd - Wind Parade is the best sample ever!!!! Man what a top-notch musical creative genius, the 70's were the musically most sophisticated times, it will never come close again!!! Glad I saw Roy Ayers live a few years ago, man how I love that Hip Hop is intertwined with all those unique sounds, it just has enriched my life SO MUCH!! Grateful FOREVER!!!!

@@montbrink4700 Good. Bob James has remained a very active musician for many years and has worked with highly renowned musicians. He has adapted very well to the changes in music and his music is the most sampled. Other musicians have not made as much music as Bob James, including classical music. I have seen him with Sarah Vaughan and do fusions of Jazz with Chinese music, as well as performing with other musicians such as the late Dave Sandborn. Al Jerrau, Grover Washington, Kirk Whalum and I could name a lot. For me this musician has given a lot to the world from the USA.

The whole foundation of the hip of history of ice tea is very understood. But to know why he went so deep and hard in his career and how his music made the pop charts you have to go deep into his life on what made him start and why did he feel the way he felt in his lyrics such from his pain of feeling abandoned and why his father chose to not be there. So you can say he had a lot of the in his heart but surpressed it enought to go hard in the studio and also to know that hey if he did it himself with no father figour anyone can. He still a solder because evern after his father cam to go him and said what h could do he still turned it down and did it him self with knowing that his father was about to pass. I wld say the only thing he hates most is not being able to forgive or making himself understand why his father chose so it may seem but yet he still found his other siblings and connected with them and with help of there connects on where they came from that's what helped him to become better than what he was in his prime of his career. That's why he gets father of the year no matter what for his kids he went beyond and over board even set competitive competitions for his grandchildren of his five.
