Can't believe this popped up on my feed! I started listening to talk radio in 1988 on WFLA in Tampa when Lassiter was their designated liberal attack dog. Later that year, Rush got me hooked. I had no idea they ever crossed paths, let alone on Crossfire!
Rush never lets his emotion control his narrative, he always intently looks at and listens to another person speaking as he did with Lassiter. Rush was certainly a Rampart of truth and his passing is an ominous sign of things to come. R.I.P. Rush!
And what "way" was that? Certainly not the rational way, the way of using reasoned argument and evidence free of insult. The ignorant asshole way was Limblow's way.
@@tannersanden4250 The early Rush was a compelling figure, he worked better as an oppositional contrarian. When he had to start making excusing for the missteps of the W era, he became rather uninteresting and controlled.
All these guys except Michael Kinsley have left us. And Kinsley is having some serious health issues. There are no debates like this anymore that I know of. Good debate.
Ugh...I used to listen to both Bob and Rush daily back then. I think I thought I was becoming informed, but the whole 'Shock Jock' AM radio thing of the 80's-90's really lowered public discourse. It was just intended to get people fired up and angry and keep them that way. Sad that it spread to TV. Nothing but short segments of people yelling at each other and ranting. I don't watch TV or listen to the radio at all anymore but I doubt things have improved. Sorry to hear both Bob and Rush died. I've never seen Bob Lassiter before now but he looked EXACTLY like I pictured him.
No they aren't. They are jews, and they are winning. Pay attention. Pay attention to who wants your guns and your healthcare. They are sick with your money, but they aren't "nuts". Or would you call rich people in charge and profiting off of you while eroding your freedoms...... nuts? The "nuts" are the idiots that don't realize it yet.
These 4 guys are way smarter, and vastly more precise in their arguments, than anything you get on moronic cable TV today---------they go through 5 or 6 or 7 sub points in 4 minutes, and debate em all, and not much filibustering.
During its height, the only two political shows on TV were Crossfire and PBS's The McLaughlin Group. If you wanted what was going on, you had to come to these two shows.
When I was a kid my brother and I were caught by a game warden picking golden poppy flowers the California State Flower we were scolded by the game warden as it is illegal to pick state flowers, Symbols like the American Flags 🇺🇸 should be protected from Vandalism Religious symbols should also be protected its all an issue of respect! Bob "Mad Dog" Lassiter was a hero of mine. He was one of a dying breed that spoke the truth over the airwaves. It breaks my heart that Rush is still spewing his hatred. May you rest in piece, Bob... You touched millions of us, we will never forget you...

looking back so many years later in retrospect I agree with lassiter that people are too sensitive. I personally wouldn't burn either a cross or flag at all much less in front of people but to criminalize it is a bad thing. I appreciate Novak's stance but there is a difference tween offending a person's religion and a person's patriotic ferver.
Truth. I used to drive to Brandon to hang out with Lassiter and Dick Norman, eating Skyline Chili. I'm right of Attila the Hun, but Bob was a good guy off the clock. What a time.
I miss Bob Lassiter. Limbaugh was talking about this the other day and couldn't remember who he was paired with. I was screaming at my radio: MAD DOG, MAD DOG!!!
Burning a flag is not against the constitution. Is it morally wrong? Yes. Should you be sent to prison for it? No. Burning a cross in front of a synagogue would not only be considered trespassing, but it's infringing on people's right to worship.
Those were some good times for talk radio in TB area. Lassiter, Lionel, Larsen, Dick Norman, David Fowler, Captain Mel, Tedd Webb had a good show., Neal Rogers ...most of those guys are gone now.
Say what you will about Rush. We could all be better if we had debate performed this well on TV. We just don't have the education and talent. It's funny to think that this was an example of the wackados
It's ok to burn a flag. It's ok to burn a cross. On your own property, or if you have made the appropriate arrangements for a demonstartion on public property. The only thing Lassiter says that makes any sense is this "you can burn a flag, but can't burn THE flag". likewise you can burn a cross, but you can't burn THE cross.
oi veh. this is what passed for political discussion 21 years ago. Burning flags and crosses and stars of David and Korans is rude, but it shouldn't be illegal
