I've been listening to this show since I got a bootleg cassette tape of it 30 years ago, and I always suspected that it was an amazing crowd, I mean, Santa Cruz, come on. I think it might be one of the best Marley concerts I've ever heard out of many. From running away all the way through ride natty ride is absolutely superlative.

me too, it was a game changer. Carly Barret also broke his drum head (that had been on his famous snare drum for years) and I tried to help him put a new head on his drum because I was teaching drums at the Guitar Works in Santa Cruz at the time. For many technical reasons, he was completely unable (and indeed, everyone would be unable ) to reproduce the sound of his snare drum and it changed after words.

I was there too. It was an extraordinarily mystic moment. No doubt.

I was there also with my daughter she was 6 years old then. Oh how we danced together, she is still reggea lover. I remember how we put our children sometimes to rest up behind the benches. I saw Bob three or four times all together during that time.

I was there. The vibe was so thick you could almost touch it. I remember looking at everyone to see if they could feel it too. Bob is the only one that could do that. I'll never forget.

Santa Barbara show was even better.... It's a shame it's not free to view anymore.

I'd been introduced to Bob the year before at his concert at SDSU by a Jamaican friend, and was going to introduce my gf to him after the first show. We went backstage, and as the door opened and one of the I-Threes walked out, as the door closed I saw Bob, livid with rage, tearing Jr. Marvin a new one. Between the "bumboclaats' and 'bloodclaats' I decided that it wasn't the right time, and we went back into the auditorium for the second show. Afterwards we went back again, and this time Bob was exhausted but cordial and charmed the lady I was to marry. We're still together over 40 years later!
