An interview with reggae musician Bob Marley about his latest album, Survival, supplemented by additional commentary from Roots Rock Reggae producer Pablo Innes.
When the interviewer is asking him a question you can see in Bob’s eyes and facial expression that he is listening intently to fully understand so he can answer intelligently. This type of focus is so rare nowadays.
You are correct. Of all communication skills: reading, writing, talking & listening. Most people are very weak in listening, which makes it the most difficult skills to cultivate of the four.
My parents saw Bob Marley perfom in London, I was in the womb. His music, voice, and teachings have been with me my entire life. Thank You for spirit...
I can't believe he was only 35 during this interview. But the wisdom coming out of His head was just out of this world. Prophetic legend indeed. HSRIP.
Wisdom was granted to this him, The Most High has blessed him with this and is blessing us by him sharing it. Legends never die as you see people still stand for him to this day. he is blessed.
His reach extends to every culture and demographic till this day. I’m a white man from Australia, and Bob Marley is my idol. My good friend is Russian and Bob is also his idol. Bob Marley spreads the message and love in every pocket of the world.
The revolution will be telepathic. Bob was a truth-teller and he never apologized for that. Where this interview has come from? I do not know because after all these years - new footage?!? Truly a blessing and I'm left with so much to contemplate after only my first listening. Give Thanks JAH...Ta-far-i 👑❤💚💛👑
@Michael Cuevas I am not here to convert you nor to convince you - but I can share some insight into Afrika and her beliefs (i.e., worldview). We Africans believe in the immortality of the soul; that means when the flesh becomes the culinary delight of worms the true being, the soul traverses the metaphysical world until it is ready for rebirth. This is the meaning of Selassie-i Lives. Please continue to seek spiritual knowledge but most of all: respect all people and their cultural and religious beliefs. #NoMoreWar
Michael Cuevas LOL!!! They said that about jesus too. When paul was preaching christ the people said he was preaching about a dead man. But just be cool, it will become very evident in the near future. Times dread.
Vice like! "They don't won't to see us (blacks) live together" you know the rest! Any unifying force they try to fuck up or kill. Bob was fighting for black people but had a great effect on establishments around the world, people fighting for freedom.
He wanted people to wake up and free themselves from the complacency and distraction that impede unification and revolution. The beautiful struggle continues ❤ #wakeupandlive
The one reason why his legacy lives on is because his focus and wealth don't come from money. But instead his focus and wealth came from love and his hunger to spread the truth, that's why even years after he died he still lives on. When you chase money and material things ,you will surely be 4goten shortly after your death🙏

He was just a human being. God is a lie. Religion is an oppressive lie. Bob was indeed a beautiful person and undoubtedly one of the greatest musicians of all time, but he was wrong about quite a lot of things. However, desperate people are trying to deify him which is a gross insult to the essence of humanity, because life and all living things are as sacred as they are fallible. Please, no more religion, no more bullshit
@@samueljean4201 it's a good thing to question everything. Religion is about accepting everything you are told by that religion, and that is because they have no credible evidence for any of it.
His voice was so calming. He was so honest and truthful. He didn't deserve to die, he was so innocent and kind. We all miss Bob and I hope he flys high.
I’m a really big fan of bob marley myself but I just can’t forgive him for when I found out he was actually a horrible wife beater. Cmon man why’d you have to make such soulful music and be a POS?😔
None of us know him. Yeah I agree guy didn't deserve to die? but I can't ever think of a time where I decided whomever deserves to die? smh You referred to him as "Bob" there at the end too. Of course you did. Forgot you were BBFs. People what is up I'm I responding to a bot? 57 likes on the post too.
I can't tell you the connection I felt when I stepped outside the airport in Nigeria, woke up that morning in my friends compound, stepped out into the morning sun on the balcony,....that was one of the greatest feelings I've ever felt in my life
You know it bro. Bob was revealed by Jah the real origins of human kind. That's why few days ago I watched the movie "Marley" for my first time and weeped at the end when he died. For the first time over 20 years my mum saw me weeping and was shocked. Indeed he was a PROPHET
I love listening to Jamaican people because my father is Jamaican. It just reminds me of him so much and my Jamaican family. One day I will go to Jamaica!🇯🇲
The loss of Bob Marley is tremendous. Thank God for his children, his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Thank God for us that his family is carrying on Bob's message, your struggles are in your head. Thank God for Bob Marley.
Only if every rasta musicians had continue on this path. I'm sure things would've been alot different. Blessed love bob i know you still alive one love.
4:06 is the part his grandson, Skip Marley, sampled this interview for his song, Higher Place. One of if not THE best interview I’ve seen of Bob. Live on forever legend, RASTAFARI! 💪🏽💙
In a corrupt world, Heaven is the only peace. He is safe 😊 this dimension is a version of Hell. Some come to shift it, and some try to fit into it. But it is a dark dark world. Anyone who is dedicated bringing light to it will face the Devil every step
It's the best interview I've seen done with Bob Marley. I wish I knew the brother who interviewed him. His questions and vibe were on point. It's cool to hear Prophet Marley speak to Pan African issues in an interview. Several of his songs spoke to that type of unity.
we were not in this world at the same time but I grew to know your music and until now November 2019 I'm here listening to u ....may your Saul continue to rest in peace
Yes sir this is how you interview. He brought out the real Bob Marley and allowed him to speak on what is real. Thank you to the interviewer and the person who posted this up. Jah bless you all.
How blessed to have met bob. I’m a hawaiian. Born and raised but bob marley and a plethora of other reggae artist are counted amongst the greats on the islands. Aloha, respect (when warranted) and love of the aina. Aloha aina. Love of the land. We are caretakers of the land....not owners. Respect Rasta One love
He's amazing! Such wisdom! Such a kind genuine person!!! Wanted unity, peace, love!!! The higher UPS were threatened by him!!! Wish everyone wanted, what he wanted!!! 😔😇🙏
@amro gibril Actually a movie was shot by a director called K. MacDonald, simply titled "MARLEY" and released in 2001 or is it 2011? Can't remember exactly but forgive me, time blurs a lot of memory. And believe it or not 3 really top class Hollywood directors and legends including the greats Martin Scorsese and Oliver Stone lined up to produce Marley's biopic but disagreements between them, Rita Marley and the family regarding specific movie content led to the whole project to be shelved. Later of course K. MacDonald was awarded the deal. However, I just can't remember that third Hollywood director!!!!
Lawrence Njawe yes my friend I did saw that but it was more like a documentary than a an actual biopic movie with a real budget in my opinion and to be honest I heard from different sources that some Marley family member female especially they are totally money hungry more than anything! Which is really sad ! And probably yes they might be the cause since they seems like they really do not care much about bob the human and figure as much as bob Marley the money maker !
@Ale Gee Indeed. Have to wonder how early he started feeling bad: tired, weak, sick, etc. He began looking skinny & tired in the late '70s but survived until '81. Hope his fans learn from his situation & don't ignore or be in denial about serious illnesses.
@@MsNooneinparticular The thing is this, we have a distrust for western medicine. Bob treated himself with herbal tonics and by having a plant-based diet. Not much was known about cancer at that time, especially the most aggressive one which is what he had, but it turns out that he was on the right track - that's why he lasted so long and was so functional ! Today, people all over the world are able to rid their bodies of cancer by adopting a plant-based diet and not going through chemotherapy.
Bob was on a completely different level to ‘normal’ artists. His beliefs were so strong and genuine. Not an educated man in a traditional sense but he was so wise and gifted. He really was a messenger and prophet. ❤️ him. Miss him.
@@gettingoutthedarknes you think Rastafarianism has any basis in fact ? It is a plagiarised version of Christianity which itself is an offshoot of Judaism which has zero basis on fact. Rastafarianism is bullshit based on bullshit. However I still love Bob as a human being and an artist and his message was a good one. Just not the reasons he gives for having his good message.
@@jupitermoongauge4055 ok maybe you're right but what is bullshit for you my friend I really would like to know. Are you an atheist? What do you dislike with Rastafarians? Help me to understand your thoughts.
@@gettingoutthedarknes I certainly don't dislike Rastafarians. On the contrary, I really like pretty much all the Rastas I know about or have ever met. However, I'm not a fan of religion in general , In fact I think most religion is totalitarian, oppressive, barbaric, discriminating, illogical, dishonest, superstitious, arrogant nonsense. However , I kind of like the way Rastafarians took the totally nasty bullshit of the Abrahamic religions and created something far far better. A much more egalitarian, earth loving, nature respecting religion than the hideous, blinkered, death cult doctrines of hate that are Judaism, Christianity and Islam. But Rastafarianism is based on bullshit just the same. Haile Sellasie was a messiah ? Come on ! And I could be wrong but I think Rastafarianism is quite misogynist. Yes I am an atheist. But please understand what the definition of that word is. It means I don't believe that any evidence presented for the existence of God is remotely convincing, therefore I don't believe in the concept of any god that has been proposed to me. The universe is indeed a mysterious place, but "god" is a complete failure in terms of understanding that mystery.
Wow i get the chills @10:52 😳....it's 2020 and this was in 1979....the earth is really mad...this man was never asleep and when we listen to his music the are all a wake up call. If we really unite, no force can stop us and they know this. That's why they keep us apart...we are more than them in everyway you think of.....man, the good one always gone to soon 😒
What an awesome guy! One of the greatest artists of all time who had some really powerful political insight. I understand what he's saying 95% of the time and I can only get the gist of it, but I think it would be really cool for someone who is familiar with the Jamaican accent to come through some of his most famous interviews and write out transcripts. If someone could do that I think a lot of people would be really grateful. I know I would be.
I could not feel music for about a year. Then one day God put in my heart, to listen to "Get Up Stand Up". An amazing feeling to feel music, as though I were feeling it for the first time. I was. God was removing the garbage of the American Music industry. The Lord lead me to this song for a reason, so I had to find out the reason. God wanted me to know where I am. East is the face of heaven. South is where God will descend. North is where Lucipher exalted himself above Gods stars aka Angels. West is where the Angels come, so is the deminished.
Bob Marley converted from Rastafarianism to Orthodoxy before he died. In particular, Ethiopian Orthodoxy, which was the same church that the “leader” of Rastafarianism came from. He was an Orthodox priest who when came to Jamaica, after speaking The Truth of Christ, began to be worshipped himself, and could not resist that temptation. That is why Rastafarianism has so much Logos (Truth) in it. Bob Marley *knew* what Truth was/is. See for yourself. Go and visit an Orthodox Church near you! (Russian, Greek, Ethiopian, etc.)
Idk how much longer I can continue playing his music and quietly speak the truth to those willing to listen as a American. It's so obvious that Babylon will crumble
One thing, out of many, about Bob Marley is, that you dont have to understand all hes saying. Its just a right feeling listening to him. Maby the most famous human ever lived on this earth.
He sang about the Bible and I thank Bob Marley for his contribution to waking up the masses. He's akin to Christ, he was ready to sacrifice everything to carry on the Word.
His accent/personality/reasoning .....was so amazing. And any time he says bloodclaat ,man! makes me wanna suffer from foreign accent syndrome just to speak patois
@@jupitermoongauge4055that's just ur perspective, the definition of prophet means someone who is sent by God to speak the truth, there are plenty of rasta man who believe bob is a prophet, ur understand doesn't necessarily mean ur right
@@leoedison3470 ok pal. some imaginary man in the sky sent Bob to say a bunch of things that only people who are smoking the same stuff Bob was smoking think could be a said by a prophet. Sounds so plausible
@@jupitermoongauge4055 no Christian actually thinks that God is a big man in the sky, I think maybe you should study it more as jesus saves souls I'm witness and many others are as well, god bless you 🙏❤️
@@leoedison3470 I was brought up a Christian, I have heard countless explainations for what god is supposed to be and as an atheist I have studied the origins of religion. Here's the thing, there are as many versions of what god is supposed to be as there are people who believe in such nonsense and in every case, not one of them is backed by any credible evidence. So you can bloviate all you like about Rastafarianusm, prophets, Christianity etc, but you may as well be talking about a man in the sky who rides on a unicorn made out of cheese for all its worth
I see that most people only listen to his music and use him to normalize smoking Herb. Also he says alotta good and wise and beautiful things that we take on and live by and share with people. but man, this guy is helping me see and have God, Jah, in my life. I'm a European-Māori who grew up athiest (but always had my own beliefs) and now I'm embracing Rastafari. Haile Selassie I, yknow? So much more than the music and herb man.
Never saw this one before... Its like discovering an amazing new book to me. Bob never minced words and dropped wisdom like it was his job and his job may have been exactly that.
