p4horror Read Bob Mould's biography. Granted it's only from one point of view, but it's the first time I've heard or read a first hand account of what lead up to the breakup of Husker Du. Grant Hart's drug use seemed to be a major contributing factor which permanently dissolved their relationship. There was also a power struggle for control and where to take the band creatively on top of major personality clashes which made the situation untenable from Bob's perspective. The suicide of their manager just before their first major tour didn't help things either. I tend to think there was more there considering there is still strong animosity between them after all these years but they can't seem to move on from their past differences.

@@niks7643 David Savoy was their manager. Back in 1986, he answered my ride board ad and I gave him a lift from Madison, WI to Minneapolis. Imagine my surprise when I realized who my passenger was, the manager of my favorite band (even stranger, I had hung out with the band one night a couple of months earlier at a Black Flag show). That was surpassed by my even bigger surprise when I read the news of his suicide a few weeks later.
