On July 5th, 2008 an apparent "fledgling" crow kept squawking from the trees outside our house. Kent called to him with a name that he thought would sound like a crow... Bob! The crow immediately flew down out of the trees apparently begging for food. We fed "Bob" which started an immediate close relationship. The rest can be seen and felt in this video. This video of our trained wild crow is the complete version of a longer video segment. Other shorter segments are posted that are segments of this video. Produced, directed & edited by Kent Field - BE SURE TO WATCH ALL 3 VIDEOS - #3 WILL BREAK YOUR HEART!

When they are babies it'a a lot easier to gain their trust & affection. As adults it will take time and they will remain standoffish. I've been feeding the birds in my neighbourhood for almost a year now. The adults know me and recognise me and will call me sometimes and sit above me as if to observe and guard me while remaining aloof. The youngsters who fledged this year know me now from hatching, so now they visit me, sit in trees and on my roof and perform aerial acrobatic tricks for me and call me and talk to me sometimes so are more familiar with me because they've known me all their lives now technically. 👍😎

mostly he ate dog food. But crows can eat a lot of things, including bread and other trash out of your garbage. He lived with us 6 months before leaving with his family.

This is great. I'm gonna watch all the vids later. Do you guys think he'll come back? They are amazingly smart. I watched a few documentaries on Crows and their intelligence in certain areas (like using tools) parallels primates. They recognize faces and can impart information audibly.

Feed it a balanced diet. You can research what they eat in the wild and give him a variety of food. You now owe him that much. Better idea is to take it to a bird sanctuary who are experts. I see wild crows they eat thrown out restaurant snacks. Birds need water to drink too and to bath.

How cute is this littlea guy and very friendly but you guys have to make sure he doesn't start getting to attached to you and starts relying on you for food which sadly can be a birds downfall . Also he has to learn that not all humans are trust worthy like you two .😊

They like kibbles dog or cat food, unsalted peanuts and meal worms. Meal worms are EXPENSIVE. They soak their food in water, especially DRY bread.

haha who told you that? I give my chickens and ducks bread all the time, even my conure and lovebird enjoy a crumb every once in a while
@liliaaaaaaaa

It depends on the bird, corvids can eat bread but need more protein to form properly especially when they're young.

a great vid and experience for you. If it was a fledgling its mother would have been close. Never give wild birds bread though as they cant digest it and eventually they get sick.
@liliaaaaaaaa

Wholemeal bread in moderation is Ok, but best in combination with grit. White bread is the worst and can give swans what's called angel wing. In general corvids as carrion birds, need protein and can develop deficiencies due to inadequate amounts, so things like peanuts, cat or dog biscuits, chopped up sausage are fine. They love cheese too. Feeding them raw steak is obviously the best and ideal but depending on how many birds you want to feed and your budget. Doves / pigeons will be fine with brown bread since they love wheat but even racing pigeons are fed more protein rich pulses rather than wheat for their energy requirements.

I've heard of people rolling up ground meat with some sand in it(for digestive reasons)into little balls and giving it to them raw.
@liliaaaaaaaa
@liliaaaaaaaa 2 года назад
I literally grind up egg shells for them and sprinkle it as grit with the food I give them. Think about it, their primary food source, worms is exactly that, a package of earth wrapped in worm flavour meat.

I feed them dog food all year round stops them eating young birds
@liliaaaaaaaa

That's why I started feeding the corvids in my neighbourhood in the winter and spring precisely to give the smaller birds a chance. In the summer it was just hot and dry so I carried on lol. I even had curious buzzards and a kestrel visiting me now too, to check me out. I fed the buzzards road kill a few times but didn't make a habit of it lol.

Why don't you hold her close to you and small talk quietly and kiss her on the head, stick your nose into the feathers in the neck? Let her sit on your finger, or two fingers - keep her close?

pretty sure thats a raven. i think the beak length is the difference between crows and ravens. i can never remember which one is which tho. they are so close.
