Bob White's 1960 BSA Gold Star 

Beautiful machine! I'm sure I'm in the minority but I love the procedure to start it .Only true motorcyclist can appreciate!

Growing up as a kid lived right behind a triump. BSA. Rickman. Motoguzzi. Laverrda. Dealer romeo's in west haven seen all these bikes on a daily basis. Great times.

The nickname for BSA's back in their day in England was, "Bloody sore arse." :-)

Cool bike. A true motorcycle experience

Nothing sounds like a Gold Star. The sound on the overrun is like a giant snoring. Great handling, good power, some vibration and can be a pig to start and needs regular fettling , but well worth the effort. This one's a beaut! Great video, thanks.

Beautiful bike. If you want to save wear and tear on the starter and transmission, push the kicker down until it reaches full compression, then gently release with the compression release, let the kicker return to full up, then stroke it, throttle closed. That gives almost two full engine revs before it fires, and is much easier on the rider as well.

The story and history lesson is just as cool as the bike.

That bike sounds awesome. Update i fixed the bog on the 83 480 and now its just the plastics and repaint, my next stop for my project is vmxracing

Very nice, but if it had the original carburettor the GP on it the racing carb it would do double the sped in the acceleration period. Me and my father are purists we have 5 in our collection from the start of them to the finish in 63. Along by side with the same model 650 rocket goldstar. They are the best period in time, well that’s my opinion. As well in the collection by side we have a couple rod rockets as well as super rockets but they can’t bet the Goldie. 👍

Sounds and looks like a big, British, racing single should. For a look at the 1950's - 1960's bike scene that produced it, along with Royal Enfields, Harleys, and Pentons - try reading "Rough Scrambles" by Roy Ald, classic pulp fiction.

Back brake pedal, on the left hand foot , gear shifter on the right foot , opposite of what your used to , thats riding a bsa

It has the wrong carb and wrong gear box. It should have a GP carb and a RRT2 gear box. I had one in 1976. Geoff from UK.
