The best bit in the movies is that bit where he isn't in it. He's the Kanye of middle earth, All he does is sing about himself and not care about anything else.
Friendly reminder that, during the Council of Elrond, people briefly consider giving the Ring to Tom Bombadil, but either Elrond or Gandalf says that it would be a terrible idea because " *_HE MIGHT LOSE IT_* ". Yeah, that's Tom Bombadil.
Jesse's expression when it comes to Tom Bombadil says it all. I genuinely thought at first it was a goof but nope... there are now genuinely people who think tom bombadil is a rings of power thing and that hurts my soul
One of the most memorable posts I ever saw on tumblr was someone wishing they could screenshot real life and someone replying, "The thing you're talking about is called a camera," and boy has that stuck with me all these years 😆
Always love a good ol' Yogscast crossover with Dodger and Jesse, but Boba is definitely a favorite. The excitement was real the second I saw the ep pop up! (Addendum) Aw, Jesse mentioned one of the big movies from my childhood - Wizards, by Ralph Bakshi. That was such a *bizarre* and interesting movie, from someone that was trying to prevent the 'disneyfication' of limiting animated movies to JUST children with his works by trying to appeal more to adult audiences. Also has probably one of my favorite anti-climax endings... but I'll avoid saying further incase anyone else wants to watch it.
Wild that they don't talk about their shared connection, how Dodger met Sam when Jesse and her visited Yogscast and of course how Boba grew up on Yogscast content and eventually joined the network because of that and even moved to England. Also, kinda funny to have 3 murican sounding people and all 3 of them are England, 2 of them living them long term.
Vampire survivor ... But with jiggle physics? Psst, dodger. You should get a little ultrasonic cleaner for your jewellery then you can get then cleaned whenever.
Rankin/ Bass did the Hobbit animated movie. THe song Jesse mentions is in their verision called The Return of the King. Where there's a whip, there's a way. The one with the roto scope elements was a different company.
Not knowing about Tom Bombadil is a shame. He's so great. He's ultimately not important, but he's great. LOL That tattoo idea is hilarious. "Easy come easy go" and "See You Space Cowboy" :P love it.
Man, hearing their stories about college is wild to me - I did a Masters in Chemistry (and I'm currently doing a PhD) and it was so. much. work. Like easily 30 hours a week contact time, then assessments lab reports and own work on top of that. Final year was basically a 9-5 job in a lab doing research, with lectures on top of that. Weirdly though the only person I've ever heard relate to this (that wasnt doing a similar course) was a friend who went to a ballet school.
Til i have no idea how college in the US works. I was given a plan. I had to pass all the courses in the plan to get a degree. Is this art vs engineering?
In germany you GET PAID to go to Uni. atleast when i was in it. no sholarship or nothing. Education is free, just need to get living costs. And for that we have BaFöG. Monthly money you get for rent and food. You need ot pay half of it back but it is not that much. And the Uni itself is free, I did History Major aswell. I think only PHDs cost money AFTER you already made the bachelor. so it is a thing you can do later.
i used a waymo in SF and its actually not bad! if at all it was pretty comfy and peaceful. not having to be awkward talking to my friend with a stranger and theyre programed to drive safely. BUT i was in SF and im pretty sure the driving and roads there arent as crazy as LA, so i can see how it doesnt work in LA. we asked an uber drive their thoughts on them and theyre like oh theyre chill they drive like how a real person would too. and me and my friend were thinking, oh if we have more automated cars like these maybe they will make streets safer?? again, IDK ABOUT LA i feel like LA drivers are built different
The most likely reason for Shadows being delayed is because Outlaws didn't do as well as they thought it would citing polish issues and they are 100% wanting to polish it up before launch.
Jesse, as a person who read both the Hobbit and LotR as a child, before the movies, Tom Bombadil may have been irrelevant to the plot but he was THE vibes of Middle Earth for me. He was the continuity between the books, he was the mystery of nature, he was part of the world that the Fellowship were trying to save. And I highly recommend Bear McCreary's version of Tom's ballad, takes me right back.
I am pursuing my master's in English/ ESOL. A lot of the "teach them for the testing" is no longer the goal, and this thought process is slowly being rethought. Instead, it is about universal design that all students can benefit from. Basically, teaching is for students to learn, not to do well on tests. We still have standardized state tests, but many still do not like them nor put much stock in them. Our government does, though. That's how schools get money. Common core standards are there to keep students and teachers on track for "career and college readiness." Even when reaching those standards, there are ways to diversify teaching so it meets student's learning styles. It may take a long time, but the transition from "tests are the best" to learning for the sake of learning is on its way. We just have to change the old guard or educate those taught with the old mentality.
YES Jesse, every a.i car needs a Johnny cab like it was in Total Recall. And it needs to be played by Robert Picardo, except it needs to have the personality of the Doctor from Voyager..this might get kinda expensive. But I'm willing to wait
Dammit, once again a podcast talking about smart home devices activates my device... after stepping out of the room come back to it playing "Stuck In The Middle With You"
I remember mom having some friends over for a movie night and I was asked if I wanted to join them, it was a little bit of a scary movie with like vampires or something according to mom. I was 13. The movie was Blade :D That was an awesome night!
Boba has a lot of AuDHD energy, I relate to the struggle with trying to learn something on your own and not being able to figure out how and where to even start so much.
I've never heard the term 'Bullet Heaven' before but I love it *edit: I also feel extreamly validated by Boba's thoughts on the dragon age series, origins is still one of the only games I've even intentionally gotten all the achievements for
oh my how did i miss the part about cool world? i remember watching that way too early than i should have. it was good but Definitely not meant for kids.
Telling people about games os a lot easier than you make it out to be, even if they dont understand it you just say you're not sure how to explain it and move on.
I just want to say that, much like AI, when you remove the capitalism everything changes, and college is no longer a means for comparison to off-load training costs on to a public service. Public education is meant to be a means to enrich the lives of the working class, (the ownership class have never been want of that,) but over the last 60 years, it's become so much more focused on getting the piece of paper, not that the paper inherently means anything--It's marketing, get the paper get a better life, and that was never the intention until the system became extremely profit-driven. Absolutely everyone should go to college, "should" being the keyword, because the issue of "can" comes into play, because the ownership class have turned college into another way for themselves to increase their revenues, (without doing anything, as definitional of their class.) Why should everyone go to college? because college in the United States is where you'll actually have a chance to take the courses you need to in order to become exposed to so many industries you're blocked from with just a high school diploma or GED. In college you can take any number of "Intro" courses that give you college credits and introduce you to different fields of study: Architecture, Psychology, etc. Those courses tend to be easier because they are a sales pitch for their fields. When you get your AA, you should have a richer takeaway than, "I did all my general education stuff, now on to the actual degree program." For me that was how I eventually discovered what I was good at and selected a major for my BA via that process. If I could make a suggestion/design the process: After high school everyone needs to take a year to work either as a [paid] volunteer doing public service or an [paid] intern, and then go to college where it should not feel like just more high school because you jammed all of you gen ed classes into your first year, (you have to take some electives (1) for fun (2) to see if you're actually interested in the field.) But as I touched upon at the start of this comment, we do need to remove the financial barrier to entry, (all education from pre-k to a master's degree should be entirely tuition free--"Scholarships" & grants ought to be going to help cover other, external costs like rent, food, and materials for class. We as a society can only benefit from that change, like canceling student debt, it really costs us nothing. Anyway, spoke my peace, lol. 🙏🏼😊 Godspeed y'all.
We have one restaurant here that only uses those robot waiters and they are cute and all, but sometimes, when it's someone's birthday they go "BREEEEEEEEEEHAW, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!" right next to the table and honestly...horror games have never frightened me like that XD
